alum -- When I put the cursor over it, it says "lower left fountain pen." I can see that. I suppose you use a nice pen for a big moment like this. Of course, if we wanted a real commitment, we would make them sign it in blood

Of course, if we wanted a real commitment, we would make them sign it in blood One year Chuck Connors was offered what he thought was too low a contract by the Dodgers or Cubs or maybe his minor league team--he sent it back signed in red ink and wrote "You want my blood, you can have it"

9:30 am and 7 LOI already in. Is this a mistake? I thought we had lost every recruit from some of the hand wringing we saw here as recently as last week Keep it up guys. You are joining the team that will turn around Holy Cross football while you are still here! Only you and Ky thought that

Wow! Thrilled about Tommy! His Dad and namesake '76 is a great guy, as are Uncle Duke '73 (Pat's Dad), Uncle Chris '80 and the late, great James, Sr. '37, his Grandfather,

Getting ANY kid out of a powerhouse like St.Peters in NJ is a good sign.

Now the question is -- will there be any more today? I am also curious.
I thought that maybe they'd be a bit of jockeying (not necessarily at Holy Cross) during this initial country-wide signing wave and a surprise kid might want to sign December 21 or 22 as a result of this jockeying. Of course this early signing period is uncharted territory.

I saw Walter Reynolds play this past season for UD Jesuit against Birmingham Brother Rice. He's a solid recruit, IMO.

Please show me the post where I suggested we'd lose our recruits and I'll make a donation to the HC team of your choice.

I thought we had lost every recruit from some of the hand wringing we saw here as recently as last week I wouldn't overreact to earlier reports that a couple of verbal commits decided to go elsewhere. Hopefully nobody overreacts like that. Not good but it happens all the time. Doesn't meant we were going to lose every verbally committed recruit. Who would think that?

I posted during the interregnum that NP ought to be fired if he wasted time and then hired someone who was always available to him. My concern was that failing to have a coach in place for the official visit weekend was going to be deadly as to the early recruiting period. It looks like we lost a couple, but I expect that would happen no matter what.
I will admit that I was hasty. It appears now that the Sam Houston State guy was the monkey wrench. So be it. I have moved on and am all in on Chesney. I think that as fans we also owe a debt of gratitude to the assistants who kept in touch with these recruits and helped shepherd them to today all the while knowing that they could be out the door. Chesney thanked them yesterday and they do really deserve a shout out.

10 Signees
Cedeno - DL - no other offers reported Smith - DB - Fordham, Army, IL Honohan - LB - FAU, Davidson Wood - LB - Stetson, Jacksonville Smith - OL - Colgate, Bucknell Kennedy - WR - Valporaiso Reynolds - DB - no other offers reported Gilliam - WR - no other offers reported Doherty - DB - no other offers reported Copley - DL - Youngstown, State, Ivies, App. State, Buffalo - pretty impressive list of offers
So right now 26 Seniors are graduating. Doesn't mean all 26 spots are going to be taken, but my guess is what you will find is more "Walk Ons" in the group. So my guess is you will probably find a few more without offers depending on the size of the class you are trying to fill.
3 on offense so far an 7 on defense. My guess is you'll see at least 3-4 more OL, 1-2 QB, 2 RB's, 1 TE, another WR, hopefully a few more DL/DE's and a linebacker or two.
3 offers reported so far under Chesney. Hope we get into a few more battles with more players with multiple scholarship offers.
Confesor is a nice get on the coaching front.

Of the 26 kids they are losing the breakdown is:
4 WR 4 OL 2 RB 4 DL 2 LB 2 P/PK 5 DB 2 QB 1 TE
So in terms of restocking depth, RB, OL and QB are priorities with the remaining spots as you've signed 2 DL and 3 DBs already

Do you really believe you know what "everyone" else thought? Probably not. Try to avoid universals.

dharry13 --
Good summary; only correction I would offer is that Gilliam claimed to have had an offer from Brown.
Agree that RB and OL need to be priorities with respect to the remaining slots; would like to have one good QB for depth as well.
