Nice of you to ask, but no - I was with my wife who was ill and needed me there with her. Did you make it to Annapolis? Were you at Sacred Heart, FDU or the two games in Belfast? We were both there for all of those games! Have a good day.

Attended 8 games this year. Did not travel to the tourney across the pond because the venue was not attractive to me. We can’t get fans to attend home games. Why would anyone think we travel well? Also I attended shu which is in our kitchen and I would bet about ta dozen attendees exclusive of player families.

My six, you, rgs and Mrs, rgs. DiMarz, Tom, lou, hchoops, HCFC45. Can’t specifically recall but I can’t imagine Sader81 missed it. And there were plenty of others I don’t know. Maybe 40-50 plus families. I would be surprised if another visiting team traveled as well to SHU.

I did not count the 92s because they were late. Add ant and Robert largest turnout of year but still pathetic by D1 standards.

lou-ise was also there. Watched part of that video the other day, first game of the season, we made a lot of progress over the year. Also recall KC in the lobby with giant ice pack on his knee before boarding the bus

Not sure what you think D1 standards are for road trips these days but I don’t think we’re materially behind the curve, certainly not among our mid-low major peers. If anything we’re probably ahead of it. As I said above, I’d be surprised if another visiting team had as many fans at SHU this year as we did.

Normally I would have attended the game at SHU, as I have since the series began.
Unfortunately it was a 6:00 PM start on a Friday evening, there are other alumni who would have been in attendance if the start had been at 7:00 PM. Sometime work interferes with fun.😖
I’m sure the BU fans at the game on the roof, in Boston, certainly appreciated our band of vocal recalcitrants at the game last month. You should have seen the stink eye that was received by our group, especially directed towards NAD. We were almost behind the BU bench. They did not appreciate how vocal we were. But that is why we are fans. There is now a picture in the BU box office, with our group on the non admit list for the game next year. 😎

Lou and two guests were 50% of the Navy “crowd.” how many times are you going to harp on this one game? and must you always distort reality to suit your agenda du jour? we usually far more fans than your (scientifically sampled, of course) headcount of 6 at navy games. but as you are conveniently omitting, the game came right on the heels of one of the most devastating wind storms on the east coast in recent memory. many people throughout the east coast stayed home that evening and the federal government, all local school systems, and many other institutions in the baltimore/dc area were closed the next morning because of the winds that began that night. the navy crowd was also smaller than would be expected as a result, which you are conveniently omitting. the reality is that holy cross travels at least as well as most other schools our size, and likely quite a bit better. this is one of the great parts about being a holy cross fan and your attempt to skew the reality does not change the reality.

Totally nitpicking, but are there any other schools our size? We have to be darn close to the smallest D-I school

Davidson, Wofford, VMI, & Lafayette are smaller. Colgate essentially the same size.
Think that’s about it.

Any way you looked at it the attendance at the Navy game was sparse, lucky for us. There were hardly any students to speak of, so no advantage there. It rained, but the strong winds came later as I recall. Anyway it didn't keep the crowds away from the casino, which backed up the traffic a couple of exits before Annapolis.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. I underestimated the throng we visited upon SHU. But, to say we "travel well," is a huge distortion as well. My only chance for vindication is if we sign 2-3 2018 b-ball players.

Since we have low home turnout, but travel reasonably well and we appear to have strong alumni pockets of participation, I believe it would make sense to schedule 5-7 away games against the top teams in the better power conferences, get a decent payday, and find 2-5 local rivalries and call that a schedule. This should help recruiting, improve our preparation for conference play, and over time might increase home attendance. At that point, and given realistic options for the future, our conference affiliation won’t really matter We travel well? Where to exactly? Our turnout at Belfast was more than respectable, and I'd bet a couple pints that our student showing was significantly better than any of the other three schools. We may or may not have more JYAs than other schools, and there were A LOT in attendance. If Nate and the school provided tix, I'd say "Brilliant!"

Interesting that you should mention the students who bussed up from Dublin. Totally out of control after two hours of drinking on the bus, required several security people to get them in their seats and to stay there. A huge embarrassment for the school, while our administrators sat there and did nothing

I've got to say, this is the most unusual NCAA Tournament thread I've read today. Radford's up early on LIU in other news.
