Our turnout at Belfast was more than respectable, and I'd bet a couple pints that our student showing was significantly better than any of the other three schools. We may or may not have more JYAs than other schools, and there were A LOT in attendance. If Nate and the school provided tix, I'd say "Brilliant!" Interesting that you should mention the students who bussed up from Dublin. Totally out of control after two hours of drinking on the bus, required several security people to get them in their seats and to stay there. A huge embarrassment for the school, while our administrators sat there and did nothing I was sitting near to them in Belfast. They were enjoying themselves. There was no problem and I did not see the need for anything to be done. I can't imagine what you mean by "out of control." You may not be aware of this, but people in Ireland have been known to enjoy a pint or two before (during) athletic events. If you thought the HC students were "out of control" then I assume you have never attended a football game in Ireland with the "soccer hooligans" present.

Were some of the kids "enjoying themselves"? Yup. But I saw no evidence of any inappropriate behavior, nor were any of us "grown ups" the least bit embarrassed by the students.

The head of security, a former cop in N Ireland, said to me he wasn't sure what to do with these students because it was his first basketball game, so maybe it was normal, but he was very surprised by their behavior. We can just leave it at that

The Bonnies are really defending right now. Coming on strong .12 straight points and up 7 with under 4. I always bet against an Alford coached team.

HC just shown as an NCAA record-holder on the post-game show following the Bonnies game. Longest gap between NCAA wins (63 years from 1953-2016). Bonnies in 5th (48 years from 1970-2018). Baylor, Stanford and St. Mary’s were 2-4.

Schmidt's roommate at BC was Flutie - he's a class act that the school has been barely holding on to in recent years when others came calling. So happy for the school which has been struggling to survive. Along with Davidson, two of the smallest enrollments in D.1 - Bonas approx 1800 students
Grear story already and will get even better if they can knock off the Gators.

So happy for the school which has been struggling to survive. I wouldn't say "barely", but yes, others have expressed interest and he might have returned to BC had they offered. Schmidt's total comp, not all paid by the school, was roughly $900,000 last year which is astronomical under the circumstances you note. He has said in the past that he wanted to get all of his sons through high school. His youngest will be a senior next year. Then we'll see. He's already in his mid-50s so if he's going to move, he's probably going to do it soon, but I wouldn't rule out Schmidt taking the "McKillop" route. EDIT: Unless you know something I don't, in which case, don't tell me.

Sixteens 15-19 Texas Southern besting NCCentral by 20 with a minute to go Texas Southern has some talent on their team: Donte Clark - UMass transfer Trayvon Reed - Signed with Maryland then was dismissed, played a year at Auburn then transferred Derrick Bruce - Oregon State transfer Trae Jefferson - Some P5 offers Marquis Salmon - Utah Valley and Wagner transfer Players sitting out for RS seasons: Devocio Butler: Colorado State transfer Justin Hopkins: Samford transfer I think they might be on top of the SWAC for awhile.

Is it true, we are playing Rhode Island at DCU next year? Yes. It is the end of a 2-1 series with Rhode Island. First two games were played in Kingston and the last game is to be played at the DCU Center. It is the same series arrangement that the Cross had with UMass.

Rhode Island beats Oklahoma and Trae Young. Young got 28 points--but he had 6 turnovers--and 7 assists.

Iona losing to Duke The announcer said that Tim Cluess, Iona coach, coached Billy Donovan in HS. Wrong only on two counts. He did not coach him. Donovan played at St. Agnes. Much later Cluess coached at St. Mary’s after St. Agnes had closed. Well at least they are both from Long Island

Losing 11 out of their last 15 was exhibit number 8,609,321 that the NCAA cares more about money and viewership (Trae Young) than choosing the best teams.

Ralph Willard sitting behind Seton Hall bench, gets a shout out from Lavin, who lists the schools he has coached at. Also that he gets nervous watching Kevin and sometimes walks away from his seat
