Bucknell gets Michigan State as a 14 seed. In Detroit. One of the matchups I was hoping to avoid.

Brutal...about as tough an opponent as they could have gotten.

I thought they had a decent shot at a 13. Brutal draw for Bucknell.

Since we have low home turnout, but travel reasonably well and we appear to have strong alumni pockets of participation, I believe it would make sense to schedule 5-7 away games against the top teams in the better power conferences, get a decent payday, and find 2-5 local rivalries and call that a schedule.
This should help recruiting, improve our preparation for conference play, and over time might increase home attendance. At that point, and given realistic options for the future, our conference affiliation won’t really matter

Weakness of the Patriot League didn't help Bucknell.
Plus no great wins on their schedule.
Wonder if UVM's loss hurt them since it was probably their signature win.
Looks like they have the toughest game of the 3-14 seeds

Patriot League no respect. Bucknell should have received a better match, not a possible Final Four team.

Oklahoma and Syracuse joke. ST Mary's went 28-5 and could not make an automatic bit. Somebody said A PL team could make an automatic bid, BALONEY.
Oklahoma lost 11 of the last 15 games.
Syracuse went 8-10 in Conference
THE NCAA IS A BIG 12, ACC TOURNAMNET

Bucknell got a tough draw with MSU but a 14 seed is pretty much where they were going to be slotted. Use Ken Pomeroy, RPI, or any ratings method you choose and compare them to the other teams in the tourney.
Here's the bottom auto qualifiers ranked by RPI. Start at the bottom with six (4 go to Dayton for the Play-in) as 16 seeds. Next 4 up the list get a 15 seed and so on.
Doing that shows Bucknell as the "best" 14 seed, so they had an outside chance of getting a 13 with all the seeding rules and comparison to the resumes of other schools in that range. Tough OOC schedule but with no signature wins gave the committee no reason to bump them up a line.
So, go Bucknell. Beat the Spartans!
56 College of Charleston 58 Davidson 60 San Diego St. 64 UNC Greensboro 79 Montana 80 Bucknell 87 Marshall 99 Wright St. 101 Lipscomb 105 Stephen F. Austin 108 Iona 112 UMBC 119 Penn 126 Cal St. Fullerton 129 Radford 133 Georgia St 222 Texas Southern 232 LIU Brooklyn 275 North Carolina Central

Looks like they have the toughest game of the 3-14 seeds Yes, the toughest game of the 14 seeds - even though they were viewed by the committee as the best of the 14 seeds. Did them the "favor" of having the shortest travel time instead of going to San Diego or Wichita. According to their S curve, the final two 12 seeds were Marshall and Charleston, while the 14 seeds (from best to worst) were Bucknell, Montana, Wright State, and SFA.

Patriot League no respect. Bucknell should have received a better match, not a possible Final Four team. Why should winning a poor overall year in a bottom-feeder conference gotten them better than a 14? This isn't the PL of the previous decade.

The A-10, in a particularly down year for the league, still got its usual three NCAA bids - Rhode Island, Davidson, and St Bonaventure

Great reaction video of Danny Hurley reacting to his brother getting into the tournament. Both Hurleys have done a great job, Danny in particular turning a sputtering URI program into a top 25 team.

Much of his reaction had to be relief once he realized his not winning earlier in the day did not cost Bobby a trip to the tournament.
