Tonight . . . Loyola at Detroit Mercy, Binghamton at Colgate. Raiders are off to 3-1 start, and getting exceptional play from Rapolas Ivanauskas, the 6-10 transfer from Northwestern, who is averaging 16 and 11. The center in what may be the most physically imposing front-court in the conference, alongside favorite villain, Dana Batt (6-9), and Will Rayman (6-8).

Lehigh looked pretty good beatingSiena tonight. Lehigh shot lights out in the first half (68%) including 8 of 12 threes. Their offense is very 3 orientated with guards penetrating and kicking out for open 3s. Siena looked flat with very little productive offensive motion. Also their new coach promised a mayhem offense there certainly wasn’t any of that tonight.
Based on having seen both HC games this week and tonight’s game, there is no reason why we shouldn’t beat Lehigh. Siena cut its deficit to 64-61 when Evan Fisher scored on a jump hook off the glass with 6:39 to play. But then the Saints went scoreless for the next 5:15. Lance Tejada, Lehigh’s preseason all-Patriot League guard, scored his first points on a contested jumper from the left side to put Lehigh up 66-6

Christian ran a "mayhem" defense at The Mount, but didn't inherit enough of the kind of players he needs to do that when he took the Siena job. He's got a serious, multi-year rebuilding job ahead of him.
Speaking of The Mount, old friend Dan Engelstad took over for Christian, and hopefully will do us a solid when his club squares off against Loyola, Lehigh, and AU in December.

Yes, he didn't really inherit any players with the skill set to run his style of play.. If he made any promises, they were long-term ones. Having said that, three of the five years when he was at MSM, they played a very slow methodical sort of offense - among the slowest tempos in the country. He has always matched his team's style to the personnel he has on the court. He certainly did not anticipate playing a fast pace this year with the players he has at Siena. In fact at the moment they are playing the slowest pace in the nation - which is not a big surprise. As for MSM, they had four tough games to open the season and predictably lost all four by large margins. Tonight, however, they faced a very weak winless North Carolina A&T team at home - a game they were expected to win. Unfortunately they ended up losing it by 14. Looks like a tough year.

Lehigh has the potential to be very good. Right now, I’d expect the PL final to be Lehigh vs. HC or Colgate if the seeds are right. Bucknell could certainly be there. Loyola, Lafayette, the academies and American are outclassed this year.

Loyola, Lafayette, the academies and American are outclassed this year. It is a long season and while the usual suspects should be there, it just might be too early to predict the leaders in this league— get ready for an old fashioned rock fight with the possibility of an AU or another stepping up and making this a seven team race for the top spots

We're still the godawful 6-24 squad with no roster changes/improvements or maturation from any of our returning players from last year's team. We're a 3-1 fluke, lucking into winning tight games at George Mason and today at UMBC, coming back from a 10-point second-half deficit to win on Sam Iorio's three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left, breaking a 69-all tie. It's a total mistake by KenPom to have us up to 180. Just keep overlooking us. We play better that way.

That is why they play the games! It will be a fun year with some surprises. AWP and Navy do seem to be underpowered, Laf just meanders along with no direction or desire or care, and Loyola has not been good since joining the league. Maybe the academic requirements hurt their recruiting. BU should fit right in the middle. KenPom does not mean a lot right now, but go AU!

Surprised they hung in as long as they did with Tejada going scoreless and Leufroy scoring only 2. Guess those things can happen when you're going up against superior athletes.
