The firing of Steve Addazio as BC football coach is not surprising. He was 44-44 over 7 seasons. This firing will most assuredly adversely affect BC’s recruiting. I would not be surprised if several verbal commits reopen their recruiting. In fact, I suspect other schools have already reached out to BC’s recruits to gauge their interest in decommitting. With the early signing day on December 18, I have to think that the BC athletic director has a couple of candidates already lined up. Otherwise, they could conceivably lose a number of their 2020 recruiting class.
Also, I saw this online about the BC football job:
“The move opens up one of the trickier jobs in college football, as BC’s location and academic standards provide challenges. Boston College’s staff salary pool is among the lowest in major college football, and BC trails ACC peers like Wake Forest in support staff infrastructure.
For athletic director Martin Jarmond, part of the pitch to prospective coaches is the school’s new $53 million indoor football facility, which they debuted in 2018. BC had long lagged in physical facilities, often busing to local schools like Bryant College to practice in bad weather.”

I bet we would charge them less to use the Luth.

I hope they aren't targeting Chesney

They may have Chesney on their potential list, but I don't think he wants to leave the setup he has created at HC for the multiple challenges of BC.
...and yes, I believe we might see a player or two who had verballed to BC to look at coming to HC. HC is certainly worth a look.

I hope they aren't targeting Chesney I think BC’s athletic director needs to hire a more solidified D1 FBS coach at this point. Chesney is clearly an up and comer and his day will come but I think he needs to establish a more impressive D1 FCS resume of success before he will get his FBS shot. That being said, I saw that Addazio made $2.6 million this season, which is an astronomical amount when compared to FCS coaches. I read that the head coach at James Madison is reportedly among the highest paid FCS head coach and he makes about $450K. The FBS money that is available is very enticing and also impossible to decline.

Difficult, yes...but not impossible. Others have done it. With that money comes a host of headaches. and a ton of pressure.

Chesney is not a top of their list, first I’ve even seen his name mentioned. I’ve been following n most talked about rumor is Al Washington(Ohio St lb’er coach) HC, Don Brown (Michigan DC),, coming in as DC and associate head coach

The list that hcnation linked to is pretty comprehensive, and does not include Chesney. Really a shame to see BC football continuing to tread water like this.

My money would be on Don Brown. Got to open up the pocket book though. Don Brown would be a weird hire, IMO. 64 year old guy who’s “biggest” head coaching experience is at UMass. BC needs a guy who can recruit, and then needs to be willing to pay some good money for coordinators who can coach. Al Washington is a name that would make sense.

Selfishly, I wouldn't mind at all if they hired an incompetent who staffed the place with a bunch of dolts for assistants so that when we play them next, we beat them like a drum. Just one person's opinion.

Don Brown recruited Sean McKeon (Shepherd Hill) and Eamonn Dennis (St. John's) right in BC's backyard. He can recruit.

It will be Chesney and HC against a new BC coach in our opener next season on sep 5th - the debut of their new coach will add to the buzz and likely a very big crowd

Harbaugh spends a fair amount of time in MA. He and the allure of the Maize & Blue closes deals, not Brown.

Yes Harbaugh does but Brown is the lead here in New England. His roots are deep in the state.

Taking as many kids from MA as Addazzio did leaves you 22-34 in a mediocre ACC and gets you fired.
