Massey makes American a 10 point favorite over HC (78-68) with an 83% chance for the win.
To end this "regular" season with a win at home would be sweet, but I believe we all know that is not how things have gone this year.

Looking at Basketball-ref ratings obviously all our players have bad defensive ratings but I was surprised to see that Wade was our lowest rated player. Don't know how these ratings are calculated but to my untrained eye it doesn't seem that he is our worst defensive player.

Agreed. DRtgs work better for teams than individual players, where they seem suspect in many cases and don't sync with what we can see on the court. Jehyve's got a little worse each of his last two seasons, for example - in his senior season, his DRtg was 8th best in the PL. Not the most reliable metric.

With the low incidence of free throw attempts, this year's offense was Attack and Swerve. Praise for the loyal fans.

this year's offense was Attack and Swerve. Nicely played . . .
Our free-throw rate had declined steadily since 2015-16 - ticked up just slightly this year to 23.8% (from 23.1% last season), but still ranked a lowly 342nd.
Pridgen is the only player with an above-average rate (43.4%), and everybody else is well below average. If the team was getting to the line at Pridgen's rate, it would rank 6th in the country.

and we would have won several more games

Our best fan(outside of NAD, of course) (there will be obvious comments about the photo) Other than the game against Bucknell when the football team arrived early in the first half, student attendance hasn't been anything to write home about this year or for many years. Hopefully, that changes next winter. I know, but hope springs eternal.

Heading out to the game shortly. Better late than never. Before the season ends I want that perspective you just can’t get from what they show on TV.

I was thinking this morning when the last time I was “pumped and jacked” to attend to attend a Holy Cross basketball game. I think it was 2007 vs Bucknell in the PL championship game.

What a shame this was allowed to happen to a once proad program. If the powers that be don't realize that this affects the reputation of the college as a whole, they are more clueless than they already appear.

Does anybody really care? (Crossporters and the Athletic Dept excluded.)

TPTB are funding the going rate for a mid major AD, a mid major head coach salary and any national searches needed to find either one. Facilities can't be blamed as Merrimack won their league in their first D-1 season out of a 1200 seat gym. There have been six head coaches hired since Blaney, all selected by ADs. Only one has succeeded. Perhaps TPTB need to have a quicker hook with the AD and head coach until they get it right.

As bad as things are, TPTB were going to bring back Carmody for Year 5, and most likely extend Pine’s contract. That should tell you everything you need to know.

"The best predictor of future results is past performance." - some Sage.
I like the Chesney model for hiring head coaches at a low mid major D-1 school like HC. Enough hires like that in enough sports and we could end up a high mid-major.

The way it worked out, intentional or not, HC in effect waited out Carmody and saved a year's pay over letting him go.
