Dave, I’ll trust your take since you’re sitting there at the Hart today, but from watching on by 8x11 iPad screen, it seems to me no one wants to be playing today. I have to agree.
The team looks like they want this season to be OVER.
I hope they don’t get stuck playing Bucknell in the opening round of the tourney. Finishing the season with 12 hours on a bus to and from the middle of nowhere would be the cherry on the sundae for this debacle.

i know these announcers are just doing their job - never easy in holy cross basketball these days - but "what's the biggest improvement" is one of the biggest jokes of a comment i've ever heard!
we have gotten worse as the season has gone along. this is rare for any team, but especially for a team whose ooc sos is higher than its league sos. in other words, we have played worse against worse teams. i have seen little evidence of offensive or defensive improvement in this team and this is deeply concerning.

Big time free throws by Niego to ensure we didn’t get doubled up. Building blocks.

Let's see Hart and Sandy now Unless they are hurt kind of embarrassing to not play some walk ons when you’re 45 points behind

Let's see Hart and Sandy now Unless they are hurt kind of embarrassing to not play some walk ons when you’re 45 points behind /\ It has been kind of odd how little we play the deep bench in extreme blowouts. This has been the first time I have closely watched Reilly. Is there any chance he is a couple of inches shorter than his listed 6'0"? He just seems undersized out there and that might account for a few things (getting off his shot like in HS, playing strong 'D', etc.). Might seem an insignificant point since we know 6'3" guys listed at 6'5", but 5'10" is a real disadvantage (even up top on offense/defense) and anybody under 6-foot has to absolutely be greased lightning to contribute (IMHO) much at our level.

I think Milton Friedman once said “TINSTAAFL”, But I think Teflon Brett might’ve got one this year.

36-8. I refuse to believe we are 28 points worse than a middle of the road Patriot League team after 15 minutes of game play. We are either 1) not playing really hard as everyone here says we are, or 2) Nelson has us totally unprepared. Or (3) you’re wrong, and we have 1 player playing in a position where he would be getting playing time at any PL school this year. Doesn’t matter what you believe or refuse to believe, this is potentially the worst roster in the history of Holy Cross basketball.

I'm sure the coach wants this season over. He's already looking toward next season. Adolf Rupp couldn't win with this group.

Nelson shoulders some blame here. How can HC go from being pretty competitive on the road against Army to what we just saw today? There are clunkers and then there’s not showing up.

Yeah, I saw Butler up close to him on the screen and he looked like he was at least 6 inches taller than Reilly.

We’re very slow on defense, also generally smaller, weaker, less athletic, less creative, less fundamentally sound, did a bad job closing out, boxing out, moving the ball, driving and finding the open man, and moving the ball around the perimeter, and of course we were just horrible shooting, including free throws. I can’t figure out what the offense is trying to do.
My impression is that we make no effort to get players into places where they can be successful. Most of Coach’s in game comments during plays are “Go!” and “Go to work!” while the assistants are chattering nearly non-stop. My impression is that Coach is going to have a very hard time making the transition from high D1 to low D1. We don’t have the roster with guys who can “go to work” yet, not even a foundation of any kind. Pridgen is the only player with a D1 physique but it seems he is more of a big fish in a small pond. My assumption is that Coach is going to keep coaching like he has a full stable of jocks until he has a full stable of jocks. We won’t be outsmarting teams a la Willard at HC or Carmody/Carril at Princeton in the meantime so if this plan works it won’t be for years. I think we’re in for long, uphill road. Success is going to hinge on not just good recruiting, but literally high major caliber recruiting. By that I mean bringing in studs, not guys with one or two offers. If you had asked me for a prediction as to how the post Milan Brown years would play out, I would not have dreamed of this. His players looked like D1 players. How we did not capitalize after 2106 is beyond comprehension. Can’t phone it in at this level.
Yes the guys are good kids and play hard but so does my youth travel team. You don’t get cookies for that at this level. This is my brutally honest take. I love HC basketball and I hope these guys turn it around.

This was always going to be a throw away year and even more so when Grandison transfered. Put it in the history books and move on.

Maybe Coach Wade should have implored the team to show up today rather than the fans. Part of playing hard is having your head in the game and playing smart neither of which was on display today. This year we have lost at home by 60, 40 and to a D-3 team, it's a miracle anyone Is still going to these games. American had us well scouted today and completely shut down Pridgen, every time he made one of his spin moves there was another defender waiting for him. On our end they ran a pick and roll with Nelson and a big that consistently resulted in our guard on their big man and normally ended up in a layup. We never adjusted our defense to slide under the pick and avoid the switch and dare Nelson to shoot from the perimeter.

Was today the day of the pre-game reception for season ticket holders with the coach and AD? If so, any observations from attendees?
