Okay--time for the annual challenge to our prognosticators. How many games do you think this new team will win in this delayed and shortened season. We are looking for the single number that includes regular season, Patriot League Playoffs, and any additional post-season play
Note: Please indicate your prediction for total wins even if you do not agree with the copy used for each selection

Question: The likelihood of cancelled games is almost a sure thing.
So, should we be predicting, wins, losses and cancellations? Joking only a little.

I'm the 1-3 vote. I think they'll hold their own in the first four to six games, and then everything will shutdown.

I can't imagine predicting 13+ wins and then not submitting a post to affirm ownership of that prediction and explain the reasoning behind it. So, obviously it comes from a not serious poster who believes, incorrectly, that it is a clever contribution.

Since 10 of our 16 games are against the top two teams in the preseason PL poll, I think this could be a tough year. I think three wins sounds about right.

Better poll might be how many games will HC actually play.

Hopefully we'll be like the NFL and miss zero games this year (given protocols, postponements are a given).
I'm going 3 PL wins which would be a substantial (percentage wise) improvement over last year's 2 PL wins.

I went with 4-6 not because I am comfortable it will happen, but I would like Austin and Matt to have experienced some level of improvement during their time at Holy Cross.Would think 7 or 8 are possible if we have a full season, including the PL Tourney. Many variables this year, the two I believe that are key-# of games played, and Adjustments by Nelson, both in game and between games against our three/four opponents.

I went 4-6. We don't have to face UMass-Boston this year.

Since so many of our players are new, the team improvement curve should be steeper than average. So it is a fair expectation that we will have a reduced losing margin or increased winning margin between the first and fourth or first and sixth game against the teams we play four and six times. If it works the other way, all things such as injuries considered, it won't be a good sign.
Similarly, this season will be a rare opportunity to judge coaches against each other as minus significant injuries or other issues, the team that steadily improves head to head against the other team can be considered better coached in a way that's more clear than in a one or two game season series.

I picked 4-6. Better but still not where we want HC to be. This could lay the groundwork for next season, or put another nail in the coffin lid with fewer than 4 wins or if we don't see HC develop as a team.

4-6 wins, assuming all games are played.

Last year was the biggest cluster f#@$ I have ever witnessed in a basketball team, maybe any team. Only one lightly played senior going into season. Two very good frosh disgruntled and leave, along with an exodus of upper classmen. New coach plays O & D with square pegs going into round holes. Some games so bad, I couldn’t watch. They do have two veteran seniors back who played a lot in three years. You want Butler in your foxhole, whether it’s hoops, or whatever he chooses in life. He’ll even play the point, if needed. Faw is now a senior, and it seems big guys always get better their senior year in the PL. Wade developed pretty well as the season went on, and I don’t think the two transfers will play like freshmen. If we get contributions from the frosh, I don’t think this will be a tenth place team. I expect the head coach has developed too. It was his first year, and he is too good a competitor not to examine his role in last year’s debacle. I’ll go with 8-8, 1-1 post season. The season won’t be cancelled - I already bought my plane tix for Vegas March Madness.

I can't imagine predicting 13+ wins and then not submitting a post to affirm ownership of that prediction and explain the reasoning behind it. So, obviously it comes from a not serious poster who believes, incorrectly, that it is a clever contribution. Once upon a time someone asked a coach (Willard, I think) how many games he thought the team would win in an upcoming season. His response was all of them. He went on to say that he expects and the team expects going into every game that they will win

I went with 7-9, being an eternal optimist. I rationalize it with the hope/belief that the athlicism of this team will be improved vs recent editions. My hope is that the transfers will contribute significantly, immediately. I am also hopeful that there are 2-3 legit D-1 players among the frosh who will thrive in the PL. I hope for 8-8. From my iPad to gods ears.

I am not expecting many wins. Maybe 2-3. As a long time fan of the program, I can't tell you how weird it sounds to say we really have our work cut out with the majority of our games against BU and Colgate, teams we probably beat 95% of the time before 1990. Time has a way of changing things. I'd like to see the team become a cohesive unit, particularly on defense, and no transfers after the season other than our two seniors going the grad transfer route.

Put me down for 6-10, 1-1. I have no confidence we’ll actually play even half of our anticipated schedule but making believe we will for purposes of this exercise.

Keep the faith. 7-9 wins and on an upward trajectory. You need the "horses" to win the race.Signing players who can successfully compete in the weak PL should be not too difficult for HC. Of course our new young coach still has to show that he can coach. Better days are ahead this year, next & beyond. Fingers crossed. - The Eternal Optimist. your faith has convinced me
