This whole season is a crap shoot. Hopefully we will see improvement as the season goes on. True on a couple of levels. A crap shoot in terms of whether or how much of a season will be played. Also a crap shoot in terms of only 4 returning players (one of which had marginally more minutes than a walk on) and a whole bunch of new faces. In terms of the former, the fact that the hockey team has played 8 games is cause for some optimism things will move forward

3-13 PLT: Miss it
Having 14 of our 16 games against schools who figure to be in the top half of the league is going to be quite the challenge for this team.

That would be 10 of 16 Four vs Army picked 7th 2 vs Lehigh chosen 9th I'm considering an upper half team based on what they've shown in the non-conference. 3-1 against D1 competition with nice wins over Buffalo and La Salle and a very competitive game against Florida. They currently have the fourth best ranking in the PL per Pomeroy.

Hard to use Pomeroy when only two teams in the league have played.

Hard to use Pomeroy when only two teams in the league have played. Every team has a rank whether they've played a game or not.

call me an optimist, but i see 7 wins.
playing a core schedule of the same teams (albeit much better teams) is strange and would seem to lend itself to some "upsets".
we'll see if nelson has improved his roster management (i certainly hope so) and in-game coaching/adjustments this year after an unimpressive debut. i have a feeling that he will improve and that we'll be pleasantly surprised in this respect.

7 to 9....I've always been an optimist, and I believe this group will surprise many,,,I think the 2 key players are Austin and G.Gates...If Austin can have a healthy season and shoot the ball as we all hoped he would, he will change the look of opponents D...G.Gates is the wild card, if he is as good as I think he is, he can be a game changer in the PL..... A real tough schedule, but it is better than NO schedule!!

Many variables this season, including the total number of games played. While in-game awareness and adjustments should improve--mostly because we all hope the reason for the shortcomings last year were dictated by the roster. Perhaps the projected deeper roster will give Nelson more options during the game. Given the schedule of back to back games against the same opponent, the key to success this year might very well come down to the changes/adjustments Nelson and the players make overnight.

I always hope for the best for H.C., but coming off a dismal season, the ongoing(accelerating?) pandemic, and so many freshman, I have no idea what our record will be so I won’t be venturing a prediction this year.

Don't know how many W's we will get given the number of new players, the schedule, etc.,etc., But I do know one thing! We have as good a chance as any to have more W's than the Fairfield (1 - 9) Stags!!!

Looking at the schedule, though an eternal optimist, if I'm being realistic I think we'll see
Boston 1 - 5 Army 2 - 2 Colgate 1 - 3 Lehigh 1 - 1
Not sure how they will be determining the 2 teams who will not play in the PL the tourney, but if we make it, I have a hard time seeing us playing anyone but the first or second seed, so, if we play in the PLT
PLT 0 - 1
Think we might be able to steal one more win somewhere along the line, so I'll go with a total of 6 wins on the season and a much better feeling about where the team is heading.

I do hope that HC can once again have something of a "home court advantage." It has been years since that was the case...far too long.

The only home court advantage we will have this season are familiar and, hopefully, friendly rims. The other home court advantage that HC and every other team will have is that the visitors will be playing shortly after a long bus ride, as opposed to the norm of having arrived the night before and stayed in a hotel.

PLT seeding: - Three mini-conference winners are top three seeds, in order of records - Three mini-conference runners-up are seeds 4-6, in order of records - Two remaining teams with the best records are seeds 7-8. First two tiebreakers are H2H and then record vs common opponents.

Can we turn the heat and hot water off in the visitors locker room?

HC actually gave heat and hot water to visitors? That will make them soft.
The overall surroundings (not just the rims) give the home team an advantage in many locations. including one NJ college where there is a large open area behind one of the baskets that throws off shots for half the game, teams that have not played there before need time to ad just their shots.

Since we know little about this group of Crusaders, does anybody have thoughts about BU/BU without Mahoney? They had multiple pieces last year, but I thought Mahoney gave them energy and was so important to the way they played. McCoy and Whyte will be tough but wondering how much improvement we will see in Mathon and Hemphill?
