As far as Sophomores on the 2-deep, I expect the following (anyone not listed would be a surprise barring unknown injuries to others or themselves) Almost guaranteed on Offense: QB Sluka (starter) and Siderman WR Corker and Shipman OT Newman (possible starter) Probable on Offense: OG Eric Schon Almost guaranteed on Defense: LB Bolden CB Spence Probable on Defense: S Joe Rivers 2nd string DE - TBD 2nd string DT - TBD It’s virtually impossible to prognosticate on any Frosh cracking the 2-deep heading into Week 1 without watching multiple practices and knowing the status of every injury. Good analysis. I can see Schon and Newman anchoring the right side of the OL for a couple of years to come. Both are big and move well. I think it will be difficult for a sophomore to crack the 2-deep at DE. I know Dyer has good size as does Vaganek. Springer and Allard are also in the mix. HC2020, the reason I think a Soph is going to have to be our 4th DE in the rotation (behind Whitley, Kuz and Reichwein and on the 2-deep) is that I don’t think Thomas Kiessling has fully recovered from his injury. I haven’t seen him anywhere this fall. In that case, odds are on Dyer or Springer as they appeared to be further up the depth chart coming out of the Spring as Freshman. The bigger question is who is the 4th DT behind Modak, Johnson and Cedeno? Pat Blowe is the only Soph DT on the roster and we brought in 4 Freshman Defensive Tackles with good size. Regardless, it’s likely to be someone that did not see the field in the Spring so a huge leap forward to crack the 2-deep and likely get snaps early this season. As for Luke Newman, I believe he can play either Right or Left OT but expect him to be competing for Left OT as Pat McMurtrie started all 4 games at Right OT in the spring. Big Testament to the skill set of Luke to be able to play both positions. He’s definitely one of our most athletic O Lineman as just a Sophomore.

A look at the fine non-league institutions Patriot League teams will face this year. I'll let others discuss DFW's prediction. Lafayette: AFA, W&M, Penn, UNH, Harvard Lehigh: Villanova, Richmond, Princeton, Penn, Yale Hoyas: Marist, Delaware State, Columbia, Harvard, Morgan State Colgate: BC, Stony Brook, W&M, Brown, Cornell Bucknell: Sacred Heart, Villanova, Penn, Cornell, Army Fordham: Nebraska, Monmouth, Stony Brook, Florida Atlantic, Wagner HC: UConn, Monmouth, Harvard, Yale, Merrimack 6 BCS teams; 8 CAA; 2 Big South; 1 Pioneer; 3 NEC; 2 MEAC; 13 Ivy I’ll take the hard under on 10 OOC wins by the 6 other PL teams after seeing this schedule. Shoot, the PL might not make 10 even if you include HC!

midwestsader05 - you hearing anything on Williams - the Frosh? He had a lot of very good offers and was highly regarded. Real big kid at DT.

Just seen him on tape and he moves well for his size. Getting burn on O-line or D-line as a Freshman is probably the most difficult of any position. You have to be a pretty remarkable physical speciman coming out of HS. There is no other position where the difference in physicality between an 18 and 22 year old is more pronounced.

No clue. It’s where he came from. Maybe he wanted to give it a second chance.

Marcus Romboli no longer on the roster. Yes - the freshman I had mentioned some time ago. Heard rumors he was headed to another FCS school in the Midwest.

I thought your statement was crazy until I looked - team by team. I will disagree, however, with an UNDER 10 if you include HC. Yea I was being a bit hyperbolic in saying if you include HC, but let’s say HC wins 3 OOC games; I think that puts the PL wins at 10 or 11. I’ll put it this way, I would rather put money on the UNDER for the 6 non HC PL teams and 10 OOC wins vs the OVER on 10 wins even if you include HC. I would put the line at 7.5 for the 6 other PL teams vs that OOC. I bet they go 7-23 or 8-22.

Anyone have an information on Kiessling or Dom Thomas? Kiessling been hurt often since he arrived on campus as well as Dom Thomas. Both coming off injuries in the Spring.

Anyone have an information on Kiessling or Dom Thomas? Kiessling been hurt often since he arrived on campus as well as Dom Thomas. Both coming off injuries in the Spring. I saw on a Twitter post for the football team earlier today that Thomas was in the background (#84) but not in uniform. This would obviously suggest that he remains injured, but I don’t know what the specific issue is. During recent interviews, Chesney spoke about the depth at DL but did not specifically mention Kiessling by name.

Anyone have an information on Kiessling or Dom Thomas? Kiessling been hurt often since he arrived on campus as well as Dom Thomas. Both coming off injuries in the Spring. I’ve referred to Kiessling several times in this thread and most recently as to why I do not think he is healthy yet (which is why we will have a Soph DE on the 2-deep) I’ve followed him closely since we landed him from St. X in the 2019 class because he’s the type of kid we need on the Hill if we are going to become a consistent top 10-15 FCS program. He turned down offers from Air Force, James Madison, several MAC and Ivy programs to come to HC. It’s not true that he was injured “as soon as he arrived on campus.” He played in all 12 games as a Freshman in 2019 and was in the 2-deep from Game 1. I watched him closely against Navy and Syracuse and he has tremendous potential. 20 tackles and 5 TFL’s is very productive for a Freshman D-End. Coming out of the 2019 season, I considered him the second most promising Defensive player of that class behind Jake D. As for Dom Thomas, if he’s injured again it’s been fairly recently. Chesney referred to him by name in his full PL interview when he mentioned the WR’s we are getting back that did not play in the spring (Tenio, Dom and Ayir who only played 1 game.) Hopefully, he just tweaked something and didn’t re-injure whatever kept him out of the spring. He was also injured in 2019 and didn’t play the second half of that season. IMO, missing TK would be the bigger loss right now since we are so deep at WR. He has the speed and athleticism we will need against the O-line’s of Yale, Monmouth and Harvard. Also, we will have to get pressure on QB’s like DeMorat so hopefully he can play soon.

Never said as soon as he arrived on campus. I said - often. Which is true to an extent. That said - I’ve heard he’s different and would like to see him on the field as we all would. I saw the same tweet with Dom not in pads.

Sorry, Missed the “often” DHarry. I think anyone that played tends to watch “your” position so my eyes naturally drift to the edge DE/OLB vs OT/TE match-ups after all those hours of film (even though it feels long ago) Kiessling has the potential to be a multi-year 1st team all PL player if he can back to near 100% healthy.
