Regarding recognition from football.... Eight years ago, I was attending my granddaughter’s birthday party in a town outside of Portland Oregon. While talking to a parent, who was about 33 years old and originally from Minnesota, I mentioned I went to Holy Cross. The next words out of him was.....Gordie Lockbaum with a huge smile. With a successful football team, staff up the SID with competent people who can properly work the array of media channels, and the recognition has and will be known west of the Mississippi. Are you saying the SID department doesn't do a good job? They do need to double that staff to be a relevant D-1 program though.

True, that Spokane is larger in population than Worcester, however it is still in the Palouse. Over six hours from Portland Oregon and four plus hours from Seattle. In between either city is wilderness, with sparse to no existing human population.

The SID currently does a fine job with data information and student profiles. However there is only so much they can do, and it is a direct correlation to the product on the field, the court, or the rink. In any department, competent and knowledgeable people are required to run a successful business.
Next fall, to start, I hope they launch a national media campaign for both Jacob Dobbs and Matt Sluka to promote the HC football brand. Mr. Defense and Mr. Offense. Other players such as Jalen Coker should also be in the picture. Similar to the campaign by Gregg Burke for Gordie Lockbaum.

Who had a national TV contract last year? The Ivy League, Patriot League or CAA? You know the answer is the Ivy League who had games every Friday night on ESPNU. Yeah Friday night when you were taking your wife and or family out for dinner. Some Ivy League producer at ESPN filling a hole on Friday night at 6pm. Oh yeah thats right like all the families of kids that play high school football on Friday night. The PL would be on ESPN2 if they played their games on Wednesday. Like honestly weak argument.

That is why the MACATION is a thing....A random midweek game. Holy Cross can't play games on Wednesday without lights so that is out for them.

The people who live in Yakima, Pasco, Kennewick, Richland, Ellensburg, Moses Lake, Pullman, Pendleton, Umatilla, The Dalles, Bend, etc might disagree. And to the East, there is a booming area of the Spokane Valley extending through Coeur d' Alene to Missoula, Montana, all of which looks to Spokane as the nearest sizable city.

Having driven numerous times along I84 on the Oregon side of the Columbia, and the Lewis and Clark trail on the Washington side, of the Columbia gorge it still seems like wilderness to this east coast guy. 😂
