Ok, tie game, 2 minutes to go - who are your crunch time 5 guys next year? Possibly includes someone not even on the roster yet?

I think Octave, Montgomery and Batchelder are definitely three of them. After that, have to see how our three returning bigs look and how the frosh look.

If Octave or Batch touch it it will depend on best shot, if Bo touches it it's going up and highly likely off the dribble. I hope Kenney develops off the drive, in HS he played an effective inside game for his size but we haven't seen a lot yet.

Caleb needs a 10-12 foot jumper to make his drive game effective. Add free throw accuracy.

We have four incoming freshmen and eight non-seniors on scholarship.
That leaves one scholarship left for 2024-25 -- do I have that right?
The current senior class has one more year of eligibility due to the corona year in 2020-21. Do we know if any of them plan on returning (I imagine that HCDP would entertain Joe or Bo for another season)?

I had queried elsewhere about the possibility of Louth returning, but it was confirmed he is on course to graduate in May. Although Joe/Bo would definitely help from an experience perspective, best case scenario for me would be for the staff to somehow, some way find a Louth sized stud transfer with 2 years eligibility. Long shot I know. Bringing in another freshman big is usually a project situation.

Obviously subject to change as a function of 5th year seniors, late signings, or portal transfers (in or out) I think it more probable that the players in question would prefer to use that year of eligibility towards a Masters someplace else rather than a double major listed on their Bachelors. A little harder for Octave or Tse to go that route since they will need to sit a year at another school without a waiver. On the other hand, Octave and Tse have only spent two years in Worcester. I'm not sure of their academic status. Without a summer class or something, I would not be shocked if there were some missing requirement as a function of the transfer

1. Only because you mentioned him, Tom; was wondering during the game last night whether Tse was in Witness Protection at this point. Haven't spotted him in a while. Hope he's gotten a lot academically out of being at Holy Cross. 2. The situation changes week-to-week; or game-to-game; but at this point, I think Louth's a much better option off the bench the rest of the year than Ryan; otherwise Ryan would be in there more (given he's coming back and Louth is not).

Kind of hard to see every bench player on TV, but Tse was on the bench at the American game last Saturday

Tse has been a fine team member from all indications but he hasn't broken into the regular rotation. Joey Reilly is averaging 11.8 pts on .511/.393/.809 shooting at SHU. Let's hope DP can develop the skills of the current underclassmen, keep them in purple and keep recruiting quality players who stay four years.

Last year, Tse was part of the regular rotation. Don't know the story behind the facts in evidence, but Tse has played in every game he has dressed for this season. Unfortunately, he has only dressed for three games that I am aware of. ------------------------------- I think keeping the guys in purple is huge. You can't build a foundation on a revolving door. As noted earlier, today will be the first time in three years that HC will be honoring recruited players who have been with the program for four years. You have to go back 5 years to find a time greater than 50 percent of the freshmen class stuck with the program. (The 3 four year guys being honored today started as a class of six(50 percent, but not greater than 50 %)) Even in todays transfer happy environment, that is horrible

Last year freshmen played about 20% of the minutes. This year, it's 42%.

John Wooden, Adolph Rupp and Bobby Knight would not win with the type of recruits we have. We need better athletes.
