Nowell and 2 other starters are from Harlem. Another reserve is from Queens.

If Xavier wins tonight, there will be no #1 or #2 seeds in Elite Eight

Time for Princeton basketball to leave the useless IVY League.
They should be in the BIG EAST.
Seton Hall who?

Princeton a good example of the myth that HC can’t win playing M2M.
Our issue the past 13 years has been poor coaching quality, not M2M vs zone.

Princeton gives up 68 and switches to 1-3-1 zone, 5 straight stops, cuts lead to 8

Only stopped the bleeding temporarily. Princeton played a wonderful tourney, esp as a 15.

Time for Princeton basketball to leave the useless IVY League. They should be in the BIG EAST. Seton Hall who? Funny -- the day the tournament started, a work colleague of mine who's from Jersey and went to Seton Hall was complaining about how the auto-bids unfairly take away slots from more deserving power conference teams. He described how he thought it was ridiculous that FDU were in but Seton Hall and Rutgers were not. Similar tone to all the Dakota people on AGS who want to eliminate the auto-bids in the FCS tournament since it's "so unfair" that a PL team gets in when a 6-5 Northern Iowa does not. I always respond by asking them how they'd feel if the Summit League lost it's NCAA bid in favor of a .500 P5 team.

Seton Hall and Rutgers didn't even do that well in the NIT.
So, it looks like HC played Creighton when they were very good; they dipped a lot; got their guys back, and got better.

Michael Forrest, the only guy left from the 2019 FAU-HC game, sinks 4 clutch free throws to put the Owls into the Final 4. Go Owls!

UConn up 39-32 over Gonzaga at the half. Finding myself cheering for the small Jesuit school who have done what HC dreams of doing over the neighboring Huskies.
Reading up on Gonzaga during halftime, their campus arena, the 6,000 seat McCarthey Center built in 2004, received generous gifts from two McCarthey brothers. They were both GU alums and had owned the Salt Lake Tribune. The value of major metropolitan newspapers probably peaked sometime a little before 2004 and has nose dived since. So if they sold at the top of the market they had great timing to Gonzaga's benefit.

I was rooting for the Zags (fell asleep at half though). While seeing the world's most famous mid-major regularly advance deep into the tournament stopped quenching my thirst for a March Cinderella run sometime around 2005, this would've been a fitting year for them to win it all. A bracket upended by total chaos. A Gonzaga team that for the first time in probably 10 years wasn't tabbed as a title contender. And they have to get steamrolled by UCONN. Oh well.
At this point, I think I'm rooting for Jim Larranaga and the Miami Hurricanes but not 100% sure.

Very interesting to see how it affects them. As it turns out Florida Atlantic, heading for the AAC, went further than Houston, the school it's replacing. FAU has had a D1 team for about 30 years. And in the 70s and halfway through the 80s, Miami didn't have a team at all. Dropped the program.

Watching AB's brother in the D-2 championship got me thinking (again) about watching HC hoops actually competing for a championship in a basketball "BCS" group, ala football. I know that would make many here throw up, but I'm pretty sure I could quickly get used to it.

WRT to Gonzaga to the Big 12, it does make sense. Of course, it would have to be an all-sports move as basketball-only affiliates are not allowed per current NCAA bylaws. The Big 12 is quickly turning into a hoops-first conference with fringe P5 football. Kansas, Iowa State, KSU, Baylor, Houston, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Texas Tech, BYU...and potentially Gonzaga. AND I'm fairly certain they will at least try to court the Arizona schools. I'm sure U of A would love to be in that basketball conference.
As far as travel for the Zags, Spokane isn't exactly convenient to anywhere. Aside from maybe Portland, all interscholastic travel in the WCC is likely by air for Gonzaga. And there are only maybe a handful of non-league DI opponents in the region that would be bus trips. So the travel situation really isn't that big a deal IMO.

And we would get used to it.
