No surprises here. Eric, per my post above, I had direct knowledge of. Jake cannot come back to Holy Cross despite his extra year of eligibility (like Pat Haughney) presumably due to having taken all academic requirements. Let's remember that Jake got the $18,000 grad school scholarship as part of the Campbell Trophy finalist award. But I would guess he'd get a free ride playing football and use the schollie later on.
Down the road, there will be a lot of future Holy Cross Hall of Famers from this group. How long before we see #9, #27 & #80 hanging up in Fitton's Ring of Honor?

Give me 5 minutes with him - I'll talk him out of becoming a lawyer. As a native Canadian, he would like be a top 5 pick in the CFL native draft - if they still do that. I believe they do. Adam Guillemette was drafted in the 3rd round last year.

When Sluka came out, for what we now know was the final time as a Crusader, the camera (just looked at the replay, 2:53 left) showed he and Pesansky hug. The body language and facial expressions seemed to me like it was the passing of the torch. I guess it was.
Good luck to these guys. HC got its money's worth.

Chesney needs to hire Dobbs as an assistant coach!

That's it exactly. But, like Jake, he has to use his extra year elsewhere and cannot return to HC. Matt and Eric could return. As much as I'd like to see Matt return, I have a bit of a soft spot for Joe P that he deserves his shot as starter rather than the fill in/back-up role he's played for 3 years. Would love to see Eric back but he's got to do what's best for him and that's likely grad school in a higher level program to enhance his NFL prospects. Where Matt ends up will be interesting.

Don't be surprised if he turns into another Chris Smith but first Jake needs to test the NFL waters. There's too much money dangling there to not take a grab at.

Yup. From what I have read about him, he's got coaching written all over him. Go get some more experience kid and then bring back your winning ways to HC!!

Sluka to Coker. Will we ever forget? Dobbs making another great tackle - a sight to behold & savor. Hope these guys with their love of HC maintain their connection to HC.

These guys made HC football appointment viewing...literally could not take your eyes off of Sluka or Dobbs when they were on the field. Many thanks to them and all of their amazing teammates for the memories they've given us through this run...which can surely continue, but will feel different without them. Good luck to everybody moving on!

Gonna miss watching Sluka sluke (or is it slook?). I know I'm biased, but I've never watched a more exciting player. Maybe he'll wind up at UConn and will singlehandedly breathe life back into that lifeless program. I honestly think he can do it.

Joe P seems more than capable and we are in great hands...but going to miss watching #9 immensely

Yes, from a football perspective he'd be better off at HC, but if he's looking to take grad classes...

Yes, from a football perspective he'd be better off at HC, but if he's looking to take grad classes... The difference between the hoops board and the football board is pretty amusing: Hoops-why would this player want to leave HC and go play at an academically inferior institution Football-Isn't it in his best interests to spend a 5th year at a 4 year school instead of starting a grad program?

Yes, from a football perspective he'd be better off at HC, but if he's looking to take grad classes... Those leaving will have the opportunity for some interesting NIL money, a graduate degree and the opportunity to continue playing football- they will have a nice start on their path to the next forty! Many of the PL members have or will have an NIL this year-- not clear what this going to mean for the league and talent moving forward.

Team certainly gutted it out this year, great group of people in the community too! A few critiques for next year regarding team development and game day experience to get back into the national championship discussion and keep it rolling! TEAM- young defense must continue to develop... DBs need better ball awareness... too many dropped in right over their shoulders past few years ... Dline keep getting stronger... LBs will have to step up without Jake... Offensive play calling- I was not impressed this year... very predictable, odd timing of calls and poor play design... predictable in the sense that the offense relied on either a slightly off tackle run (mostly Sluka) or go deep to Coker... not much went downhill right at the Dfense from a run standpoint and in the pass game there was hardly ever an in between route (10yards) in the middle of the field... also we would run the ball after every big momentum play that we didnt score, only to get stuffed on that next play.. there also were hardly any true counter plays, it seemed to be left up to the backs to find the holes... odd in the sense that we would get inside the 10 and try to pass with multiple WRs frequently- the field gets smaller there its hard to throw... run the ball right at them or force 1 on 1 match ups with their DBs like we did last year or come up with some kind of play action roll out- ...poor play design- the times we had shorter routes designed we had 2 or 3 receivers in the same area and many times to the short side of the field- made them easy to cover, Matt would tuck and run much of the time... many of our perimeter runs were to the short side of the field as well... both designs leave less real estate for our better athletes to maneuver, and the congestion just begs for a turnover...thankfully our offensive talent across the board allowed us to pull through in many situations but we didn't do ourselves any favors with the play calling... need to develop the underneath passing game, using spacing to our advantage, and rely less on the ability of our QB to run/ scramble...especially if Matt is not here... Game Day-weather certainly tough this year but PARKING $35 to get into the garage and I think $25 in the west lot and freshman field is RIDICULOUS- no casual fan will pay that to park for an HC game right now, even if their game tickets are free... we need to continue to engage the worcester community to get as many people in the seats as we can to cheer these young men on- this takes winning, scheduling interesting opponents, and having a solid game day experience... the cost of parking is a major deterrent TARPS -bring back the tarps in the endzone seats- I would even put them up in the corners of the visitors side- the end zone tarp with the logo is our single biggest billboard to the Worcester Community... the visitors side line you could put the PL trophy images, years, or make the ring of honor numbers more visible- looking across from the home side even at the fordham and yale games last year and the stadium had a weird feel too it.. you knew people were around you but it looked empty across the way and in the end zone.. odd feeling... looks bad on TV too... this would help address that ...I've been on the field for games when the tarps were there and when they are not ... very different feel, much better with... they can be rolled back if we get a really big crowd again some day too... I covered a Northeastern women's basketball game a few weeks ago and the parking came out to 36 dollars which I thought was ridiculous too
