I always assumed "Sluke"...whatever it was, he'll be missed. Joe P seems more than capable and we are in great hands...but going to miss watching #9 immensely Maybe we’ll see him again in the playoffs next year since Villanova’s current QB is a grad student and Jake Reichwein has established a nice pipeline there… Say it ain’t so, Matt

Look at Derek Ng. Good luck to these fine young men and I hope it works out for them (I'll be content if Sluka decides there isn't a good fit and comes back, but I think he deserves to have an opportunity to start at a P5 if the fit is there). Wondering how our OL will shape up.
I think Jake could very easily slide into FBS as a linebacker and have a nice career in the league before returning as our coach!

Give me 5 minutes with him - I'll talk him out of becoming a lawyer. As a native Canadian, he would like be a top 5 pick in the CFL native draft - if they still do that. Where would Matt Sluka go in the CFL draft?

Our 2023 results weren't what any of us expected or had hoped for, but think about entering this season knowing that we'd have two games without Sluka, two games without Dobbs, multiple games without Haskins and Jarmo, and a significant presence of freshmen on the defensive side of the ball for most of the schedule. How many of us would have projected a 7-4 Patrio League co-Champs season for our Crusaders? Further, how many would have had us at 12-1 last year without Dobbs after the first four of those thirteen games?
I would never discount the talent, character and fortitude of any of the names mentioned above, and I would love to have each of them back for another season (or more), but that's the nature of college athletics. I have confidence that Bob Chesney and his staff are recruiting and developing the next generation of players whom will keep us at the top of the Patriot League. We did well. Just not well enough this year. I'm grateful to be disappointed with a 7-4 / just-missed-the-playoffs year. You don't have to go back too far to remember when these results would be celebrated.

Coker is a good student & great receiver, possibly the best in HC history.. Asante to Wyoming. Coker to? UVA or Duke or Wake Forest or Md.? Isn't Coker from VA.?

If Coker enters the portal, hopefully he goes somewhere that will actually use him. I feel like Wyoming completely wasted Ayir this season.

When Sluka came out, for what we now know was the final time as a Crusader, the camera (just looked at the replay, 2:53 left) showed he and Pesansky hug. The body language and facial expressions seemed to me like it was the passing of the torch. I guess it was. Good luck to these guys. HC got its money's worth. To the tenth power.

He lives about four miles from me in Sterling, Virginia- I doubt he will do anything other than try the NFL, but I could be wrong.

He lives about four miles from me in Sterling, Virginia- I doubt he will do anything other than try the NFL, but I could be wrong. Sluka's best shot at the NFL may be running with the ball in his hands out of the backfield, from the slot, as a receiver or a returner. He finally had an injury that kept him out this season and he has five years of wear and tear post high school already. I lean towards the immediate NFL route if he receives an attractive offer to sign unless he receives a nutty NIL offer because NFL runners age quickly and injuries don't help. Same thinking for Coker. Another year of college ball won't help his draft combine measurables much but an injury could lower them. Unless this fast developing NIL generates crazy money for a short period of time before things level off after donors realize they don't actually get anything tangible for their millions, I'm thinking go for it in the NFL Jalen. Same thinking for Dobbs. He gets injured and already has five years of college ball including multiple games against FBS teams. He plays hard every play. Go for it in the NFL and make us proud. Of course I'm ready to root for any of them in FBS if they choose that option.

How about Matt heading to NOLA to study under Taysom Hill and then replace him in same role?

Coker should work on getting in showcase bowls, work on his combine measurables (hopefully get an invite to Indy) and go pro. I can see Sluka being viewed as tweener type/camp project and going to a P5 school in need of a mobile QB would be his best bet at showing scouts he is a QB. Dobbs can play in the NFL, but given his height, his advisors may tell him he should go P5 to show scouts he can compete with anybody. I thank them for the last 4-5 years and wish them the best of luck.
If Sluka ends up at Syracuse, I hope it is not a package deal. Also, we'll have to stop him next September.

Sluka needs to go to a place where he continues to build on his accomplishments and develop that is why the CFL is a great fit for him before the NFL
Too many risks with a different school and coach
Dobbs is a warrior and not sure what another year of college does for him- same recommendation for him is to go to the CFL and then NFL- when his days are done as a player we have a coaching job for him in Worcester
Coker if drafted or signed by the NFL please give it a shot, but understand if it doesn’t work for whatever crazy reason text Matt and join his team- go make magic one more time
When he moves home to Va I will help him jump into a patient/disease advocacy role
Three incredibly talented and gifted young men

At least amongst fanbases, Sluka seems super in demand. Id much rather he go somewhere where we don't have to play him next year.

When he moves home to Va I will help him jump into a patient/disease advocacy role Please explain He is leading an effort with his teammates to address rare diseases. I helped draft the Orphan Drug Act in 1983 and have worked in that space since. I will find him a role where he can help patients struggling with a rare disease when he takes off the uniform. Any of you interested in that space let me know.

Wasn’t that Flutie’s route out of BC? Please clarify, perhaps you mean something different than the following: Flutie signed with the USFL, the NJ Generals, owned by some guy who later on dabbled in politics. After the league folded, he ended up in the NFL with the Pats and then the Bears. Only at that point did he travel north of the border for ; and then back to the NFL 8 years later.

I've been following closely today crossposts and twitter.. My take not the issues at hand;
1. Everybody has the right to look out for themselves athletes and coaches. Coaches can negotiate behind closed doors without restrictions by the NCAA, athletes can't. 2. Another post said to double BC salary, pretty sure the fueling the momentum and FBS games have taken care of a portion of that. 3. Decide where HC falls within the confines of NCAA division 1 football. Does the program want to fall between the Ivy and rest of football, kind of a tough spot to recruit from. One offers the Ivy degree and the others offer NIL incentives for the athletes. HC to my knowledge does neither of them. To be a contender year in and out you need to decide how we are going to keep recruiting better athletes. 4. It always comes down to the athletes on the field. The next time a coach makes a tackle or scores a touchdown I'll eat my hat. 5. No grad school puts HC in a tough situation holding onto those 5th yrs.
Keeping BC is important, but not as important as the pipeline to talented athletes. The Patriot league is a tough place to play high academic standards and average athletic depth. I truly believe HC has an advantage over the others because of the giving nature of the Alumni. Problem is that giving never seems to make it to the athletes directly. Alla training table, adequate staff in training room and facilities that will attract high end student athletes. The kids HC are looking for everybody wants smart, tough and caring students.
What does HC offer those type of students, that they can't get more from other programs within the NCAA.

And I saw the NFL, championship game pitting those Lombardi, Starr, Hornung, etc Packers vs the Giants (Tittle, Gifford, Webster) at a freezing Yankee Stadium. One of the coldest games I have been at, along with the HC (Jon Morris) win over BC in frigid Fitton in 1963.

Statement from Sluka on IG “Four years have been filled with unforgettable memories, relationships, and experiences. Thank you to everyone who has made this the most amazing experience of my life.
To all my brothers over the years - you've been the greatest teammates, friends, mentors, and family I could ever have. I can't express how thankful I am for each of you, allowing me to grow and develop through all the ups and downs. Your constant love and support mean the world to me. I love each and every one of you and will always be here if you ever need me.
To SaderNation - thank you for the energy, support, and love you've shown over the years. From the games at Fitton to the rainy games at Boston College, you were always there cheering us on, providing the fuel to keep going.
To the coaches and staff - there are no words to express what you mean to me. You've had the utmost trust in me from the beginning. This opportunity is a dream, and playing here has been the greatest experience I could ever ask for. You've shaped me into the person I am today, and I'm blessed to have such amazing people around me. I was welcomed into this family of great people from top to bottom.
To my family - I love you all so much. Mom and Dad, thank you for always being my rock and loving me the way you do. Boys, your dedication to traveling to every game is amazing, and I truly appreciate it. You guys are the best, and I love you.
Thank you, Holy Cross, for everything. I will be a Crusader forever.✝️💜”
