Women, coming off the 3-0 loss at UConn (all 3 coming in the 3rd) look to rebound at 6pm on ESPN+.
The lack of goal scoring continues to be problematic. I thought the loss of Roth would hurt us this year and indeed it seems it has. Our style of play is one of the underdog who completely commits to team defense but is unable to sustain offensive pressure. Our best play so much time in our own zone they are at the end of their shifts in the offensive zone. We do a great job scoring dirty goals and need to get traffic in front. I think against some weaker opponents we need to open it up a bit more.
That being said, a lot has to do with recruiting and our inability to get goal scorers at this level. I haven't seen a Stacey Hotchkins, Jocelyn Kratchmer, or Nicola Garat (yes biased on the last name), all of whom did have some D1 offers 15 years ago.

Crusaders up 1-0 after 1 at Assumption. Terrible camera angle in one corner. We have better cameras for prep hockey.

5-0 HC early in the 3rd. Apparently we are better than a new program recently joining the NEWHA. We should scrimmage one of our old ECAC foes like Manhattanville in the preseason.

I was surprised at the score but Maine has been on a hot streak.....they just had 3 straight wins over #13 Vermont and have now won 4 in a row.

If this continues, I think it is fair to say this program needs to be evaluated from top to bottom. But then again, maybe this program falls under the 'laissez faire' policy in the athletic administration that we're not that concerned about W's and L's (despite the scholarship commitment)

I am perplexed. Our coach seems to be well regarded nationally, as evidenced by her coaching the US Junior National Team, and yet . . .
A lot of time has gone by without much to show.

We lost our veteran top assistant coach who had prior experience as a D-3 head coach.

Totally irrelevant! What is relevant is a fourth class of schollies now on this team and similar results as previous years when the schollies were being built up

I’m starting to get the feeling that HC is a tough place to win for all but the most exceptional coaches.

I’m starting to get the feeling that HC is a tough place to win for all but the most exceptional coaches. You study a concept for as many decades as it takes before opining.😂 It surely is. Coaches Magarity and Riga are our two current winning coaches and Coach Curran inherits a winning program. One reason I was pleased we hired an experienced (but at a presumably lower salary range) head coach to replace Chesney instead of a bigger name is so we can hopefully extend Coach Riga and let him build a competitive program When you figure that Riga's predecessor had a similar background before being hired and had similar scholarships and league membership but couldn't build a winning program, it validates your hypothesis that it takes an exceptional Coach to win at HC and we have to retain as many of those few as possible.

Of note, FAHC Meredith Roth won a gold today with the USA U-18 team. We lost a good one in the offseason. Might also explain our lackluster offensive output.

Of note, FAHC Meredith Roth won a gold today with the USA U-18 team. We lost a good one in the offseason. Might also explain our lackluster offensive output. Dartmouth head coach Liz Keady Norton was the head coach of the USA U-18 Women's team. Dartmouth is currently 4-14-2 and 1-10-2 in ECAC play. So not sure if winning the gold as an assistant or the head coach at that level means you are a good or bad coach in a short tournament when you win every game of the tournament by two or more goals.
