A 7-zip weekend after 5-0 and 2-0 losses this weekend Our last D.1 win was on Nov 3 In our most recent six game losing streak we’ve been outscored 22-2 Well, BC is currently in first place based on points but UConn is in second place by a point with two games in hand. Holy Cross has not won a Hockey East game this season in regulation.

Why did we move to this killer league with much bigger schools/programs?

This seemed to be what some Crossports posters demanded since winning, year after year, against D2 and D3 meant nothing. Isn't that what some are also seeking for some time now for the men?

Holy Cross ranks 38/44 in the NPI (similar to RPI) and 38 in the Pairwise. Most of the NEWHA league is below them with the exception of LIU (15-8) at 24, St. Anselm (13-9-1) at 34 and Franklin Pierce (11-12-3) at 37. Honestly could probably beat both of those (in close games). A few CHA are also in the vicinity as well as Harvard and Dartmouth. We could be in the NEWHA, wining some more games and being around the same ranking.
I would be stunned if HC wasn't the least funded Hockey East women's program. I would imagine that's why Roth went to Harvard to help a first year coach turn around the Crimson offense. I think the recruiting and coaching has held us back for the last few years. I sat next to the inimitable and wise Peter Van Buskirk a few years ago at a hockey event and talked coaching/recruiting, particularly for New England prep schools. I think he was one of a kind. I also think we are getting back to recruiting Canadian players the last few seasons and it seems to be helping a tad (Madison Beck has been nothing short of spectacular for us in net).
In conference we have a GF/GA 1.1/2.9. The offense under HCKL has been truly anemic. Out of conference the GF/GA is 1.8/2.7. I do think recruiting has something to do with it in terms of depth scoring (our top line can score but, how do our 2, 3, and 4th lines match up with our HE teams) but I also think the coaching style plays a role. We look like the early 2000s NJ Devils with our neutral zone play and collapsing in the defensive zone.
Look at the success of Vegas and Seattle with less than superstars. I top line that is good but not great in terms of relative comparison, a 2nd line as good as any, and 3rd and 4th line better than most. Their depth is really where they can win games. They play a fast style that gets to the puck quickly and pressures opposing D. Forces turnovers and it doesn't take a heck of a lot of skill to bang in some of the turnovers in front of the net.

3-1 PC in the 3rd. Some opportunities lately for the Saders but not a heck of a lot going on offensively. Crash the net and hope to bang it in type plays.

HC leading BU 2-1 at the 10 minute mark of the 3rd period. BU's only score came on a 100 foot shot in the first period.

After loss of signal I was watching a Panera ad...not good. Congrats to HC women on their win I wish I could have seen the final 90 seconds. BAD JOB by ESPN.

A sweep of BU coming off their L in the Beanpot final. Hopefully can build on this momentum, something we haven't really accomplished since joining D1

Awesome weekend for the ladies. It’s one thing to do it once when maybe a team is not focused but to beat them again the next night is pretty good. Hopefully we can win a few more league games.

Where’s Foley’s post grounding us and sharing how bad Hockey East is?
Awesome weekend for the ladies. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy elevating to D1 and Hockey East. Baby steps.

Could be worse. Could be in the NEWHA Yes it could but both conferences are not on the same level as the west this year.

Women swept by Vermont but salvage a point in OT tonight (Saturday). Had a 1-0 lead before giving up 2 straight. Tied it late to force OT.
