He's at least 4 down in the Dawg Chain of Command. His departure from there wouldn't cause a ripple in Athens.

Has the Cuse faithful realized successful FBS head coaches and successful FBS OC/DCs are not beating a path to their door?
If not, the whole situation must seem a bit baffling and the Chesney possibility simply incomprehensible.

The top of the head coach market was established today with Elko going to T A&M - he gets $7 mill per year for 6 yrs -75 pct gteed Would imagine Cuse will be in the $4 mill per and a shorter duration

One other topic. We will need different offensive plays with Pesansky but Ches knows our playbook and both teams will want that game come September. Cuse needs the FCS win to pad their win total with a first year coach and we need a strong SoS and resume come playoff time. No matter which sideline Bob Chesney is on, the 'Cuse game is heaven sent for a team and it's fans who came oh so close to another FBS scalp twice this season. What a great motivation to work hard over the off-season for players and coaches, and to keep the fans enthused.

You're telling me the Syracuse Football program doesn't qualify for a medevac? It may be the poster child for needing one

One thing is for sure...lot of opinions from the Cuse diehards on our beloved Coach Ray-Bans. Lot of enthusiasm for his charisma, recruiting, and program building as well as FCS doubters.

Think about it.....Brown has never been a head coach or a coordinator, Candle is just a run of the mill MAC coach (who's done well no doubt.....but meh)....if you're the Syracuse AD you want to make a splash of a hiring......Ray-Bans fits that bill.....hope I'm wrong but I don't think so.

Does anyone think that Brown may be at a disadvantage because he probably has had no time for an in person interview.?

Smoke and mirrors? OMG. Spare me.
Wow.
The simple fact is if your people are NOT being approached and potentially hired away, you likely are 1. not attracting talented people in the first place 2. not developing your talent 3. otherwise operating a bucket shop-style operation that does not lead to your people attracting interest.
When your people are attracting real interest from high profile schools that certainly reflects well on the individual but also on the operation, that is, our college.
People who do not see this and appreciate this and think "woe is us" and we are a "smoke and mirrors operation" might want to exhale and take a wider angled view of things.
Holy Cross and specifically HCFB are in a unique position to continue to generate national level success. People from coaches, assistant coaches, student-athletes, parents and beyond want to be connected with 1. quality 2. excellence and the commitment to the same and 3. character that all leads to 'winning both on and off the field, courts and other fields of play. This menu is what Holy Cross is serving and the patrons are buying and they are very very happy which is why HCFB has attracted many high level recruits over these last number of years. Why do you think Bob Chesney came here in the first place? He saw the potential at HC. He realized that potential.
Now the job for whether it is BC or whomever is our head coach is to sustain it. Make no mistake, though, that effort to sustain is not and will not be the SOLE responsibility of the head coach. It is now and always will be a group/team effort.
Maybe BC stays and I will be very happy for him and continue to support him.
Maybe BC leaves and I will be very happy for him and continue to support him as a friend and one of his biggest fans. Not a lot of overlap between SU and HC although the bottom of the ACC is closer to the MAC than the P5 schools and we have shown an ability to compete at this level. Let's sustain that. I am confident ADKH has a list of a half dozen top flight candidates who will be very interested in our head coaching position if it were to open up.
No interest in whining or wailing and gnashing of teeth. Not taking a back seat to anybody.
Great days to be a Crusader!!
LET'S WIN!!

Great post td128......Thank you.....
You and I have gotten to know BC very well over the past few years, and I really believe BC " gets it " re: the unique position that success @ HC has placed him in.....He fervently respects Duffner, he fervently respects Stiegelmeier ( SD State )....While I understand that he may look at his resume' as never looking any better than it is now ( destined to head south upon separation from Sluka.......a la Belichick-Brady ), I think that a superficial analysis at this years' 7-4 record ( when we all know it could have have been 10-1 with a few woulda/coulda/shoulda breaks ), implies he's not going anywhere.....He knows if the best. job offer he gets is SU, he can do far better waiting it out and burnishing his resume'......And why would SU support a repeat of Babers....similar resume before assuming the HC position.......Regardless of previous posts, SU is a basketball school and always will be, and the Duke ( and BC ) always will be a better job......nobody in Syracuse cares, and Jim Brown or Floyd Little is not walking thru that door......
I think BC understands all of that, and ( wishful thinking ), I believe, after getting to know him a bit, he'll see that the SU job is not the long term job he's looking for........While I know for a fact that his recent contract renegotiation places him at the top of the Patriot League ( prior to the renegotiation, he was at the bottom 50%....embarrassing ), and the hope is that Kit understands all of that ( I think he does ) and makes ther necessary contract adjustments
Regardless, appreciate what BC has meant to alma mater varsity foortball, and, like Duffner, we appreciate what he has meant to HC Football 20 years from now....

Well, it seems that he would not have gone this far in the process if he did not want-the job. Mullin took himself out of contention rather quickly. Ches could have done the same. It seems that now the ball is in Syracuse’s court alone.
