Not surprising to anyone who follows both major college and pro sports. Think of all the players who are absolute gods, national household names in college who become complete nobodies in the pros. Gerry McNamara is a basketball example. Football there are plenty, but how about a guy like Eric Crouch in the early 2000s who was a Heisman finalist at Nebraska and barely lasted a month in NFL training camp, I think as a DB. Likely dating myself, but as a kid I was a fan of Heisman Trophy and Maxwell Award winner Gary Beban. Beban barely had a cup of coffee in the NFL, but had a successful career in commercial real estate with CB-Richard Ellis. Succeeded at qb more-or-less by Mark Harmon, the actor. Similar runner, worse passer.

I think it's looking more likely the BC job will open after next season - a much tougher schedule - star rb Pat Garwo is in the portal and now this (from BC Interruption): On Tuesday, two Boston College football recruits decommitted from the program: TE Jaxton Santiago and ATH Christian Zamor. Both players are three-star prospects and Zamor is a Massachusetts native. With those decommitments, the Boston College football 2024 recruiting class is down to just 8 total players and has fallen all the way down to 106th in the country, per the 247 composite rankings. That’s last (17th) in the ACC. It’s clear that BC’s recent shortcomings are having an effect on the recruiting trail. BC's got the same issues as Syracuse regarding geography and recruiting/NLI. (11/28 247 ranking had BC at 61 and Syracuse at 88) Syracuse took a rather dramatic step to turn this around (buying out a mediocre head coach and replacing him with the top FBS recruitor). This could very well get worse for BC before it gets better (slipping to 106 today...). Completely agree.....those 2 jobs ( and Pitt ) are becoming more similar everyday......Northern schools in a southern conference.....no 5 star athletes from Florida, Texas, or California are going to be heading to those schools.........They even have a hard time keeping their in state recruits home.......it'll be very difficult to win on a long term basis......The number of northern schools being consistently successful , period, is shrinking every year

I continue to hope that BC is to HC what Coach Steig was to SDSU - happy with his situation for a long time, and financially well-supported by his school. That combination will produce benefits to all involved - Ches, the School, and most importantly, the young men he brings in (and then sends out four or five years later). And for the record: I am completely fine with Bob Chesney leaving Holy Cross - right after he wins us a National Championship. I don't know whether their joint interview at last year's coach's association conference is still up, but, IIRC, team cohesion and roster continuity are big factors in breeding success. Steig even half-joked about BC having all these fifth year seniors on his roster. Two elements that are hard to find in the Power Five conferences at this juncture.

Mike London another, too. Well, I guess we did it. Although, London coached at UVA for two different stints prior to going from Richmond to UVA, so he was a known quantity. not a positive experience for Wahoo fans

He scored a lot of rushing TD's but averaged 1.6 yards per carry, so he got the ball near the goal line. Looking back, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place Heisman finishers, OJ. Simpson, Leroy Keyes (remember him?) and Larry Csonka seem like better choices.
