NUNCIO wanted the job and is gutted I wish HCDC the absolute best. The northern NJ Catholic HS pipeline was there for the taking. How do you know this? The fact that you don't know how to spell his name makes me skeptical. Good for you

CS Lewis said it perfectly. "There are only two choices: it is either of the greatest importance or it's not important at all."
There is no middle ground.

I welcome sharing the fact that I am the regular lector at the 7:30am Sunday Mass at our local parish. I am not hesitant to stand up and speak out if/when I see issues within the Catholic Church that I believe need to be addressed. That said, I treasure my faith, my relationship with Christ and with my Church despite any failings on the Church's part AND also my own shortcomings. I am a sinner as we all are.
I personally believe we are in the midst of a Spiritual War for the future of humanity. As such, I read and research issues largely of an arcane nature that impact the public at large with real vigor. I keep a watchful eye out on those whom I consider to be False Prophets and meaningfully conflicted.
I welcome being a soldier for Christ and find sustenance in visiting Him in His Home regularly. POST OF THE YEAR

Interesting call and endorsement by our esteemed colleague from the Live Free or Die state.
Let's think this through a bit: www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nuncio
Nuncio noun nun·cio ˈnən(t)-sē-ˌō ˈnu̇n(t)- plural nuncios Synonyms of nuncio : a papal legate of the highest rank permanently accredited to a civil government
If you believe that KH has sourced a candidate who has these kinds of connections and knows the game of football and can recruit, that is a very compelling candidate. Talk about thinking outside the box. WOW.
Might this also be a move to go back to our roots and strengthen the ties with those who founded Alma Mater especially in light of the Benny Liew disaster and recent comments from an alum within the Sciences.
Strong call, teamer. You have certainly piqued my interest. High praise and appreciated TD BTW, posters can laugh my Herrion call all they want but ya think maybe Billy Herrion would have been better than Kearney, Brown, and Nelson!!??

Nunzio campanile not a bad option either. Could see him trying to make the leap to an fcs head coach. A modern day Gerry Faust? No thanks. What a stupid response. Nuncio is the interim head coach at Syracuse and will be coaching them in the bowl that he earned as the head coach on the road at Wake. Come on!

Here’s one
If we had beaten BC there is no way Hafley survives and I’ll bet Chesney would have gotten that job. BC would not be bowl eligible and they would have been forced to make a move
Chesney would have been perfect in every way.
However, It would have been badfor my health to actually hate BC more.

Nothing but love and respect for Coach Bob Chesney and what he has accomplished at Holy Cross. I wish him and his family nothing but the absolute best at JMU. Now lets spend our efforts finding a solid replacement.... Agree 100% Nuncio

This is absolutely "right on" from my standpoint. I've particularly never understood why the Dartmouth game disappeared from the schedule. We played them almost every year for decades. Indeed, at one time we had played the Big Green more than any other schools except BC and Colgate.

Not to sound like a State Farm commercial but Harvard and to a lesser extent Yale have played us consistently in football through thick and thin when they were up and we were down (with the Yale exception at the end of Gilmore’s tenure when they backed out of an agreed home and home when their turn to come to Fitton). I miss Dartmouth as we played them every year for eons (yes, that’s exaggeration). You are the company you keep. I like playing Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, even Brown. They are local and games are usually competitive. I also like playing UNH, URI, UConn, UMass and FBS teams like BC, Army, Navy but Syracuse not so much. I think the football schedule the last few years has really been close to perfect. I know some would like to see the various Dakota teams, especially SDSU, and Sac State. They’re never coming to Fitton. Basketball, we need to upgrade the schedule as we improve. GU and St. John’s would be great in 2-3 years when we are more likely to be going full throttle. BC should be every year regardless of how we or they are doing. Tradition. This is absolutely "right on" from my standpoint. I've particularly never understood why the Dartmouth game disappeared from the schedule. We played them almost every year for decades. Indeed, at one time we had played the Big Green more than any other schools except BC and Colgate. Also agree. Basta on the Bryants, Merrinacks, Dartmouth was/is a great opponent.

Go get Nunzio Campanile (interim head coach) from Syracuse.
There are many factors in success but the grafts of HC football success and how well we recruit from northern NJ Catholic high schools are parallel
He's perfect!

I realize that and maybe went a bit far in my response but tell us how the past administrations went astray beyond my one example. “The Spire”? 🤷🏻♂️ In terms of squashing school spirit? Thats a joke, right?

Agreed. My wife and I commented on the Holy Cross contingent at alumni and how it seemed like a home game. It’s a shame that same crowd can’t fill the seats at a home game. The environment at West Point was great as well. We had a group for 50 years and none of us were alumni. Sadly many of those folks have passed on. Back when Fitton Field used to be packed. I’m guessing that the majority of fans weren’t alumni but just fans of the sports program. Not sure what the size of the home game crowds would be if it was only Alumni or current students. The A.D. needs to get the city and region behind the football program in more creative ways. I brought up the band only because it adds to the whole game day experience and culture. If the band is solely based on the size of the student body, then how do you explain the band that Holy Cross had when Rick Carter and Mark Dufner were coaches here. Probably a pipe dream, but just wishing that the atmosphere could reflect the success of the football program. I agree the band is a weak spot. Paying $90 million or something for the Luth Center, making sure it is built correctly and maintaining it beautifully is in the Holy Cross wheelhouse. Building consistent student spirit is a more complicated challenge for our fine administrators. No, it's not compicated: at all! Didn't used to be a problem. Said administrators made it a problem.

Can’t get it myself but from the NYTimes today: “Transfer portal: More than 1,000 college football players entered the portal yesterday, the highest one-day total since its inception.” did the times blame it on climate change?

It is over because he has signaled that he is gone or soon gone. That handcuffs recruiting and recruiting is the lifeblood of college sports. All the great Coaches (Wooden, Knoght, K) always said: " I won so many games because I almost always had the better players." Now he is in a recruit's living room with the "You can have it all" message (a great one BTW) and the recruit knows that he is kissy face with other girls and more than willing to exit "you can have it all" land. Unsustainable So HC should fire him because he entertained a huge promotion? What a stupid rejoinder
