As usual, and correct me if I'm wrong, we/I have no pre-game info on any injuries for either team. Have no idea who has looked good or not in practice. Is there a current depth chart somewhere ? Bloosom said we're installing a new offense....what is it and why are we doing so ?

Would bet few if anyone here saw Granderson playing meaningful minutes, let alone starting for an Illinois team that is now the #4 ranked team in the country.
AIR, several folks looked for his faults....couldn't do this, can't do that, etcetera. Amazing what we had and didn't really appreciate it. Did he make the right move ? Duh

Just saw a soundtrack list- something that most of us still don't like, right? Right, indeed! Poor Boston, poor Boston we sing this sad refrain. Poor Boston, poor Boston, you're going to lose again. You try real hard like gthe big boys do...but you'll take it in the ear as you always do. Poor Boston, poor Boston when the Cross beats you again. (Ah, those were the days!) Thought it ended with....Poor Boston, poor Boston when at the outhouse on the hill Couple versions I guess.

In those days our end of season tournament consisted of games against our New England rivals BC and PC. Our record in those late season games 3-11 vs BC and 1-6 vs PC, never beat either team in Worcester. We had chances to extend our season in those years but couldn't win crucial games. Maybe if there was an end of season tournament could've caught lightning in a bottle but not likely given our record against those teams in big spots. Are you referencing the ECAC post season games ?

People are saying ‘he didn’t look right’ last weekend when visiting a PGA tourney that he wasn’t playing in - he has had to overcome obstacles in his life - let’s hope he recovers He looked and sounded fine when he was interviewed Thought he looked tired....did appear to slur a few words. Medication ? Certainly possible due to recent surgery. Aside from accident, my first question was why was he driving by himself and where was he going at 7am ? Airpor perhaps ? But if so, no limo ?

spectrumnews1.com/ma/worcester/news/2021/02/17/holy-cross-spring-footballWORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross football team is back on the practice field preparing for a modified spring season. The defending Patriot League champions are scheduled to play at least four games against league rivals. The Crusaders return a lot of talent from the 2019 team and while some of the players practiced together in the fall and winter, the whole team has only been together a couple of weeks. Athletic director Marcus Blossom says their goals right now go beyond just winning games. Blossom said, “ I hope they can use these four games to learn a new offensive system, grow as a team, stay healthy. Primarily stay healthy for what we think will be a very competitive fall football season when we have a full schedule. But they are the defending champions and we are although the goal is to play and to stay healthy..Once we get on that field, we're going to try to win every game." Holy Cross' first game is scheduled for Saturday, March 13 at Lehigh. The Crusaders’ first home game a week later against Fordham. The winner of the Patriot League championship this spring qualifies for the FCS playoffs. As of right now, fans won't be allowed in the stands at Fitton Field to start the season. Huh ? Can anyone explain ?

The new generation of academic leaders, like those in the past, must raise money. If my prayers are answered, one of his early meetings will be with Marcus Blossom If that is the case, and the questions asked are - Will the alums financially support athletics? What changes if any do you recommend? What is a reasonable timeframe for any change? What are the different scenarios for these changes and what impact might each have on funding? Who do I need to talk to in the sports world to make that happen? Who is the best sports advocate on the board? Who else should I place on the board? Which alums have the greatest impact on the board? And 40 plus years later tradition returns🏀🏈⚾️ and the💰💰💰💰 come to the treasury The rest of my emojis froze-didnt want to eliminate the other sports Early meeting with MB: Vincent: The budgets for each sport seem awfully low. Marcus: Well yes, compared to when we both were at BC. Vincent: OK, raise them to BC's level and we'll try that for five years. Also, I've never heard of some of these schools we play. Upgrade the schedules please.LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With all the negative stuff over the past few years, I was pretty sure a lay person was coming. 100% thought the choice would be female and 100% from either Yale, Haaved or Columbia. A black fellow - from BC law school no less - was a surprise.
Couple questions...
Anyone think Ted Wells was approached ?
Before Blossom arrived, who was our highest ranking black staffer ?
Have we ever had a black Jesuit on staff ?
Was Dr. Rougeau the highest ranking black staffer at BC ?
Around the PL, are there other male/female black presidents ?
As to athletics, let this guy settle in a little, eh ?

I appreciate nut job’s desire to think bigger about the possibilities for HC lacrosse with the right level of commitment. Not sure the Clemson football comparison is a good one. Wait...you’re not sure?

KY - " We caused few turnovers- (we improved and caused 19 turnovers by BU) " So BU had no turnovers that were self-inflicted ? Come on--t he key is not what caused the turnovers the key is how many there are. Check the common stat recaps--I think you'll see "points off turnovers" not "points off self-inflicted turnovers" and "points off turnovers caused by the defense". Just as we can argue about how many were self-inflicted this game we could debate what percentage were self-inflicted last season. So, for clarity, let's change my copy from " We caused few turnovers- (we improved and caused 19 turnovers by BU) " to "We caused few turnovers- (the result improved as 19 turnovers were committed by BU versus an average of 11 opponent turnovers per game last season) Prefer debate rather than argue... One example of self-inflicted - dribbling ball off foot out of bounds hoops is right about tennis - i.e. double faults, foot on end line while serving BTW, maybe some trivia....player drives the lane, makes contact with defender, gets whistled for an offensive foul. Is that also scored as a turnover ?

Wasn’t Ewing the player who was, to put it politely, lacking the academic fortitude that caused Fr. Brooks to get into a dispute with John Thompson on the role that athletics plays at a college Would be shocked if Ewing was recruited by Holy Cross. I’ve told this story before.... Blaney recruited Ewing....for about 45 minutes. He called me to go with him to meet Ewing for the alum angle ( was permitted then ). Said yes but George called back saying he’d just gotten Ewing’s transcript and the visit was off. Per George there was ZERO chance of getting him admitted to HC. That was that!

Did anyone else notice that Navy had two number 7s ? Arline wore that number on offense, and a defensive back wore it also. Before I saw the defender with a different name on his jersey, I thought Arline was playing both ways. He was a fine DB as well as a running QB in HS. Became common several seasons ago. Usually shared #'s with one kid on O and the other on D. By rule, both can't be on the field at the same time.

Wow The first great hoops Crusader I watched in person in his great NITs in 1961 and 62. Jack scored 69 in the two ‘62 NIT games. The HC student section was raucous both years. Feed the Weed Requiescat in pace. Remember singing this from the student section ? All were wearing kelly green derbys for St. Patrick's Day.... Oh we are the men from Holy Cross Our team is something grand We run, drive and shoot as well as any in the land There's Foley and Foley, Gallagher Pat and Kenny McClory too O'Conner, Canavan, Kelly and Slats to name but just a few We're Irish and gay in every way An Irish laddy's dream The Holy Cross Crusaders, a helleva fighting team

rickii - honestly I don't know. I have a friend of mine who lives in FL and coaches there and thinks he's a good player. It could possibly have to do with the fact that he transferred from VA to FL from his Jr to Sr year and he wasn't on many people's radar in VA yet. He was 6'3 185, but he put on 20lbs this year. Maybe people not seeing him in person was enough of a factor to not have enough people extend an offer. I'm sure he has some warts as they all do, but for his coach to say he might be the best QB he's coach in 26 years - that's pretty good because I believe Tampa Jesuit plays a decent level of football. I also had someone last year tell me that Sluka is an "ass kicker" and he didn't have any offers. I guess time will tell, but i have no good info on why more schools didn't offer him. Much appreciated. His stats are pretty good and agree with you on Tampa Jesuit. Florida being such a beehive for recruiting, you'd think someone would have investigated the kid....maybe they did and for whatever reason, passed. Wonder if any of his teammates got good multiple offers ?

I guess this is another example why I don't get too excited about "commits" until the NLI is signed, sealed and delivered. Hopefully, that doesn't sound too pessimistic or cynical on my part. I think the caution makes sense in normal times, but more so in this time of COVID As someone once said, recruits are suspects.... So now that we've covered all the good stuff on young Pesansky, what's the 'knock' on him....gotta be a reason nobody of note offered him.

And reading the article, Enter Sandman by Metallica being associated with Virginia Tech and not Mariano Rivera at Yankee Stadium-- particularly at #1-- is also a bit fluky. VT started using it in 2000....Yanks started/copied it for Rivera later on. There are several Lane Stadium videos on YouTube of big games with the Enter Sandman entry. The one posted in the article is from last season's VT-ND night game. Have been to Lane twice and can say the scene of 66,000 jumping up and down going absolutely nuts in rhythm to the song is incredible.
