Gentlemen obviously besides your beloved Cross, who is the dark horse to win the PL tournament?

Can the Cross catch lighting in a bottle twice? TBD!

Do you gentlemen see similarities between this team and last year's team that caught lighting in a bottle?

As I indicated on another thread, I believe that the Luth AC/Hart Center improvements probably will have (or have had) a positive impact on football recruiting (with the indoor practice facility akin to those at some FBS schools and certainly superior to the facilities at most FCS/PL schools with whom we are competing for recruits). However, as I indicated in my previous post, I think the recruiting benefits will likely be less significant for our other four "major" sports---M and W basketball, hockey and baseball because the improvements related to those sports were less dramatic and because many other factors than facilities (e.g. league affiliation, recent program success, coaching, program tradition, style of play, etc.) play a greater role in a recruit's decision than facilities. Nevertheless, even if the improvements do not prove to be a major boost in recruiting in the 4 sports noted above, they should, at a minimum, eliminate any negative facilities factor and allow us to compete for recruits with other one bid leagues (MAAC, America East, NEC, Ivy League) more effectively on a comparative facilities basis. I agree but not with the Ivy League. Those are the finest institutions in the country and should win most battles against the PL if education is important to the young man.

Word I heard is HC has been given a deadline of a week after the Natonal Title game to decide to join HE but must play their games at the DCU! Three other teams have been reached out to gauge their interest. One that is from NY and towards the western part.

Based on past history, geographic ties, institutional history etc etc....Holy Cross is the only D1 school in Central Massachusetts...are you telling me HC wouldn't be a good fit in either league? Yes I am.

Going to UNH/BU on Sat and will be visiting with a UNH official I know. I'll see what I can get in terms of where things stand and other schools being looked at.

How is it nonsense? Hardly anyone cares......we (alumni/fans of HC hoop) deserve so much bettah....so many here are Stockholm Syndrome victims....Holy Cross basketball should not be playing and losing in a league such as this... Ok I will bite. What league should Holy Cross be in? As a catholic and living in New England I've always kept tabs on Holy Cross as I love to cheer for the true student-athletes compared to those folks taking "classes"in the Power Conferences. This board is like Charles Dickens novel. You win it's the best of times. You lose it's the worst of times and oh how back in the late 70s you could have been in the BE or could be ND or BC. You have tremendous young men and women representing you in all sports. Be proud of that. Tonight you loss to a team of some of the finest our country has to offer. Men that have decided to spend their life defending us and our way of life! No shame in losing to Army! Remember these are still kids not pros. Life doesn't change whether you win or lose. You could catch lighting in a bottle like last year in March and enjoy the ride. Enjoy your young scholars!

PL basketball sucks the life out of a 1,000 suns agreed, but HE hockey is not going to set HC/Worcester on fire either imo. Do you really think 3-5K people are reguiarly going to watch HC hockey at the Centrum? You're dreaming if you think so. You don't know unless you make the move. It would give you the big time conference a lot of members of this board have been dreaming about. True it won't be in the sport that most have dreamed of but it's a start.

I believe the HE invite is based on the Cross playing at the DCU Center. If this can't happen it will force the HE to look for another team which currently they are. It would be a shame for the Cross to miss out on this opportunity but HE can't wait forever.

Heard some rumblings at the last UNH game I went to that HE is beginning to look at other options besides HC. Supposedly they wanted HC but with the hold up due to the ECHL the league has begun to contact other schools.

Of course coaches will say they never read this Board. I don't believe for a minute. I hope coaches at any school don't read their teams message boards. These coaches know more about their sports then we could ever forget. No need to listen to bunch of folks that have never coached at that level and think they know more then they do!

For those in the know, will parking be an issue tomorrow? (I think I saw that Disney on Ice is at agganis).
Parking will be no issue. There is a nice lot located right across from the roof and right next to the soccer field. It's ten dollars and where I parked when I went to the game last Sunday.

As an outsider the perception of Holy Cross being a step below the Ivies would be greatly damaged by a move to the MAAC. The MAAC schools are not at the same caliber nor have the same standards as the PL schools.

A move to the MAAC would be a huge drop in academics from the PL! I would think most alumni would be furious to go from a step below the Ivies to the MAAC!

You could blame BC but how about no one showed up for the tourney at the Garden could be the real reason the tourney died. As I'm not a HC grad what is with the perceived jealously of BC on the board? Is it that they are where the Cross wishes it was or is it a big brother little brother thing? I've never understood the digs at BC. That is a legitimate question. HC/BC used to be one of the biggest sports rivalries nationally. And, up to BC's decision to expand their athletic horizons, in the 1970s and after, HC had more wins in most sports. For most of us at HC, any win against BC was the top of the mountain...nothing better. It could literally make a season or save a coach's career. It was a big brother / little brother thing, but back then HC was big brother. After Father Brooks tipped the playing fields, the positions reversed. Thanks! I had no idea about the role reversal as I began following HC in the late 90's.

I'd love to see HC host a 4 team tourney weekend..HC, Harvard, UMass and BC...at the DCU center. There was a tourney with these 4 schools twice in recent years at the Garden in November, but BC (being the usual dissenter that they tend to be) was the monkey wrench that essentially got it killed.

I agree having Siena, Northeastern, and Fairfield would be nice. However, I disagree with not having Maine and UNH on the schedule. Keep in mind, Holy Cross lost to these 2 teams this year. Those games are a snoozefest for all involved, players included. Sorry my friend. You have two more years of playing UNH. As we come back to Worcester next season. The good news the Cats are 2-0 in this four game series.

Well, it would be terrible if they were contagious and gave it to the BU players just as they are about to play Holy Cross in a Turnpike Trophy game. From watching both BU and Holy Cross play this year I think Holy Cross is the better team.

It's too bad...we went too far( imo) in holding onto to the belief that interscholastic atheletics at the highest level were evil.....Holy Cross lost a lot as a brand in becoming more of a NESCAC school than a Big East school which is where we are now. How long can you still look back at what could have been? I applaud Holy Cross for putting academics above athletics. Holy Cross is playing at the D1 level with quality young men and women that are just as talented in sports as they are in the classroom. That should be embraced. If I were an alumni I would be proud. The Big East is not coming back. Why not let it go and enjoy what you have.
