We didn't take Colgate seriously last year. Today UNH treated Lehigh seriously. Did JMU subsequently not take Colgate seriously after UNH didn't take Colgate seriously? I can not speak for JMU but this week Crossan and DeAndre for UNH both when speaking to the media mentioned that last year they were looking past Colgate to JMU as they had handled Colgate pretty easily early on that season. They said their focus was only about 60% on Colgate as we saw based on the results last year when UNH didn't start to play until the second half and it was too late. Yesterday they treated their opponent with respect and prepared for a Lehigh team that many have called the best PL team in a few years.

I think the only result you probably flip-flop post-Pujals is the Bucknell game imo. Every other loss was fairly one-sided. The FCS playoffs are a quandary imo....as I've posted before, they are a necessary evil (to not get recruited against by not participating I suppose) ...but it's lengthy, drawn-out affair with very little fan-fare and more often than not are dominated by small state public universities or 2nd tier state schools....nothing against these schools per se but we have very little in common with them. I really wouldn't miss them one iota if we didn't participate in them. A chance to win a National Title which these teams wouldn't have at the FBS level.

It's a tough weekend to play. Most folks are traveling home from Thanksgiving. As the pairings just came out last weekend it's tough in a holiday week for people to make plans to come to the game especially if they're traveling a distance. The first round game has historically been the smallest crowd for UNH. First round doesn't draw well anywhere, outside of maybe Missoula and Fargo. I find the Thanksgiving excuse kind of lame given that most fans should at least have an idea, by mid-October, that their team might be in the playoffs. It's not THAT hard to plan ahead for what will be a regional trip for most fans. I think a lot of the poor attendance has to do with the "let's see how they do this week and catch the next one if they win" attitude and the fact that tickets are more expensive for NCAA games. I'm not sure but maybe there are less giveaways and freebies afforded local youth groups than in the regular season, which would drive the numbers down. Hmm making plans based on might be in the playoffs. I'm not buying it. How do you make plans when you don't know where you would be playing and who the possible opponents could be? Thanksgiving you can plan for the NCAA playoffs not so much. In terms of ticket prices the prices were the same they have been for every UNH home game this year. I paid the 55.00 for my 50 yd box seat that I pay over the course of the season.

PL not ready for upper echelon of fcs, plain and simple Colgate a year ago? We didn't take Colgate seriously last year. Today UNH treated Lehigh seriously.

Call me crazy but why not get to the game for kickoff? We have the same issue at UNH and I don't get it. Drinking is that important that you can't get into the game for kickoff. Go support your team and have a beer afterwards if you must.

After seeing both teams play UNH I would be shocked if the Cross doesn't win this! UNH played as unaspired game as possible and gave the Big Green 14 pts on turnovers in the Big Green's territory. As poor as UNH played we had a shot to win. Holy Cross is the better team and they will be celebrating on the hill and in mass on Sunday. Holy Cross 30-17.

Obviously, this is out of character at HC. How long has he been the OL coach ? Was he also the lead recruiter for OL prospects and if so, for how long ? Who is the RB coach and how long as he been on staff ? Is there any consensus/evidence that we have good RB's but poor talent in the OL or is it that the OL has good talent and is perceived as underachieving ? We know/recall that Gilmore has had visible in-game dustups with assistants in prior years. Was there any visible evidence of such during the past 2 games ? This is P5 move not one of a fine academic institution like Holy Cross. Obviously this guy was not responsible for the UNH loss as Albany ran the ball in a win on Sat. This is like Rex Ryan firing the OC two games in really? I've heard great things of your former OL coach and hope he lands on his feet.

Per Football Scoop on Twitter, Coach Samko has been relieved of his OL coaching duties this week... Wow! That is like a P5 move I didn't expect that from the Cross. A guy is canned for losing to a nationally ranked team in game 2. 1-1 the season is not over for the Cross. Huge shock.

I'm very glad to hear this as I was concerned that HE was going to go with the sexier pick in Quinnipiac. I had heard that the school presidents wanted Holy Cross while a lot of league coaches and some AD's preferred QPac. It makes sense for Holy Cross to join as your an outstanding academic institution and in the geographic foot print of HE.

Sorry, 6sader7, all those stats you list don't equal a win. It is the score that matters. You could find stats on many games similar to those you list and some more lopsided where the stats favored team lost. Happens all the time. Gilmore better prepare for a pretty good Albany team or you will see the same thing. Albany beat Buffalo yesterday. You're missing my point. What I'm saying is that with those stats there is absolutely no excuse for losing a game. Sure there is when your playing a more talented opponent. Stats are like polls you can make any argument you want when you look at them. I think the problem is overreacting to the win at Morgan State. I think you guys are set up for a run in your league but is it sustainable going to next year and beyond? Do you have guys that can step in and fill all that you lose this season? I'm would think you guys have a shot to run the table in the PL get in the playoffs and see what happens with your senior laden group.

First downs: HC 29 UNH 22 Time of possession: HC 30:38 UNH 29:22 Third down conversions: HC 8 of 18 44.4% UNH 4 of 10 40.0% Fourth down conversions: HC 1 of 4 25.0% (not good) but UNH 0 for 2 0.0% (very good, for us) 498 yards of total offense with not unexpectedly 427 of those in the air. The point is -- This should equal a W I think that equals a win depending on who your playing. Two weeks ago against a bad MEAC team equals a win! Now against a top CAA team not a guarantee. My question for Cross fans is do you have players ready to step in next year when you lose this very good senior class?

If you were listening to these announcers you would have thought that along with the new stadium, UNH had just started a football program. True freshman, quarterback's first year at the helm, blah, blah. This is UNH, been to the tourney a bunch of years straight. Injuries happen, but we sorely missed Guild and Flaherty, couple of our best offensive players. When UNH figured out we could no longer run the ball, game was over. If they didn't turn over twice within 1 yard line, this is a real blow out The CAA is the 2nd best league in the FCS and is this is the youngest UNH team we've had in years. We're playing a sophomore at qb along with several true freshmen. This is the year many have felt that the nation leading playoff streak could end while others feel we'll continue to improve and with talent we will be playing in December again. It looks like you guys are set up for a run this year as you have so many seniors on your roster. I think you guys will compete in the PL! Interested how you do against an improved Albany next week.

Could have, SHOULD have been a W. Now you can't go there. You stepped up in competition from last week. Team got beat physically but you should be fine in Patriot League!

Now joe you need to relax. Week one went the way everyone knew it would. Holy Cross blew out a very bad MEAC team and UNH got beat by a top 30 FBS team. This week it's in Wildcat Stadium against a defense that gave SDSU's offense fits as stated by their OC. Please don't overlook the Wildcats. Thanks for your concern. That will not happen...count on it. PS: San Diego State was/is ranked #50 in at least one poll of FBS teams. That is certainly good, but not near #30. Who ranked them at #30? SI had them at 24 in their poll and they have been in the top 30 in other polls. That being said look at the competition of this past week.

I like that we faced a bit of adversity early on yesterday, rebounded, and got the offensive machine in gear. I like even more that UNH was blanked with little offensive or defensive rhythm. It's all about who has early momentum at this stage of the season and this is heavily in favor of HC right now. Consequently I would not be surprised if UNH has some opening night jitters in their new joint. This could be a defining win for Coach Gilmore in the new era of HC football and hopefully the start of a great and more competitive New England rivalry against another fine program. Now joe you need to relax. Week one went the way everyone knew it would. Holy Cross blew out a very bad MEAC team and UNH got beat by a top 30 FBS team. This week it's in Wildcat Stadium against a defense that gave SDSU's offense fits as stated by their OC. Coach Mac has the longest playoff streak in the nation he will have UNH ready. Please don't overlook the Wildcats.

I think NCAA rules allow for team practices out of season when school is in session...UMass must have a summer semester, which HC does not have...Could be wrong on this.. That is correct! They can have individual work and team practice with coaches. UNH has summer session which the team participates in taking one or two courses.

Good Morning Gentlemen,
The UNH-HC series is a 4 year series but I'm hearing some rumblings out of Durham that we might play a H and H this year with each other. I'm hearing that both schools are having trouble getting games as I know UNH has had several teams back out of series that were already signed. Has anyone heard anything about this?

My plans, which sometime get sidetracked, are to be there. Do I need to buy a ticket now!? Will game be a sellout? Went a couple of years ago when your stadium was "old" and it looked fine to me. 70 you sound like most elected politicians in Concord who all believe the old stadium looked fine It should be a huge crowd with the governor and other dignitaries in attendance. I'm sure you guys will find seats without an issue! I do know that season ticket sales are going very well even in the Club section which is where I wanted to sit but I couldn't afford the price. It's 500.00 per ticket, you must buy two and then it's a 500.00 donation to any organization at UNH you would like. You have to sign up for a minimum of two years. Now with that comes indoor and outdoor seating and an all you can eat buffet. But a bit out of my price range!

Good Afternoon Gentlemen,
Nice new digs you have here Holy Cross travels to beautiful Durham, NH to battle my Wildcats in the new stadium opener. It should be a great time as there is a lot planned to celebrate the new stadium being opened which will be announced in the next few weeks. Game time has been set for 7:00pm and it should be a great environment. I'm assuming the Crusaders will come in 1-0 to this game while my Wildcats will most likely be 0-1 after battling FBS SDSU! If any of you are interested in checking out the stadium I have attached the webcam for you. Amazing the stadium is right on budget and should be done by the end of July! The new HD scoreboard went in last week and there is some minor pieces to finish up! Looking forward to a great game that day and happy a storied program like Holy Cross is our first opponent!
