And people in Youngstown, Spokane and Fargo care......everybody else? Not so much. Compared to the excitement of theses 40+ bowls that besides the big ones have very few fans in attendance or people watching. I'm shocked that some folks continue to put down a system where HC has a shot to win a National Title in a major sport. That is only happening in football and hockey. Why not embrace it the next time the Cross is in? The bowl game vs. the ivy is not happening. They will goto the playoffs first. I'm not sure why the desire for a bowl game vs the Ivy champ. It sounds more like little brother wants to prove their worth to big brother. The PL has great schools but the Ivies are the cream of the crop.

Last weekend, Savannah State flew out to Oregon and lost to the Ducks by 69 points, 128-59. They presumably flew back home to Georgia to prepare for ANOTHER flight back up to Oregon a week later, this time against Oregon State. Today, they knocked off the Beavers 93-90 in OT. Nice to see the often-jet-lagged HBCUs steal an upset as they are constantly shipped out for guarantee games in November and December. Oregon coach is, as is any head coach, an asshole for letting his players run up a score like that. Do we know that's what happened? If he played his bench guys shouldn't they be able to score? It's D1 basketball not high school.

Gentlemen how much is the lack of student attendance or even the lack of support of the community due to the many choices that people have now a days whether it be on tv, campus or in the community? I also wonder how much the great success of the pro sports teams in the area contribute to the lack of support. New England is a pro sports area unlike the South and Midwest where college athletics are king!

UNH played Quinnipiac in their annual secret scrimmage and won by 30+. The Cross raises the banner and then role to a 68-53 win! Everyone on Mount Saint James will be joyous before the snow arrives.

unhfan- Everyone deserves a second chance. No argument from me on that one. I was just curious as to how it would play with the Holy Cross community.

I don't understand the dislike of the playoffs by some on this board. It's a chance for the Cross to win a National Title. Why would that not be enough for you? I do understand the little brother big brother jealously with the Ivies but don't players want a chance to be National Champs?

I've always assumed McInerney is the head-coach-in-waiting. She has a helluva resume and has shown great loyalty to the program. Remember she was fired at Maine for other reasons besides basketball. Do the HC brethren truly believe in looking past someone's prior mistakes?

Gentlemen you need to remember Coach is still trying to implement his system with a roster that are not all his players. Give it time. You guys caught lighting in a bottle last March it could happen again.
I thought from seeing your team this year and last year that you guys looked physically bigger which will help. There are some nice pieces on your team and when Coach gets all his players in the system I think you will be a consistent contender in the PL. The style you play is not seen by most teams, slows the game down, and gives you a chance almost every night(exception being top level high majors.)
Maine is awful you should win that easily!

Attendance: 612. On a Saturday when school is in session. Wow. I was surprised by that number as there appeared to be a lot more than that there to me. I was surprised that I didn't see a lot of purple in the crowd. Anyhow it was a good win and glad to see UNH win an ugly game.

I'm not as familiar with the PL as all of you obviously but I would think the style you play every night in league play you'll be in the game especially when your threes are falling. I thought your big guy had a nice stroke and the Princeton offense makes it tough on opponents. I wouldn't be shocked to see you dancing again.

UNH got destroyed by JMU today, 55-22. UNH went up 7-0 and then gave up 31 unanswered points to trail 31-7 at the half. Yes we did! We lost to a team with a legit shot at winning a national title. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the better team as Lehigh did to us last Sat. Looking forward to heading to Worcester next year when the Cats come to town. The good news this is a young team and they kept the playoff streak alive when many thought it would end this year.

The Winthrop win was nice but I think the NIT win at 5-2 Temple was bigger. Yes, it was. After losing by 5 to UNH and by 3 to UMass, Temple beat Manhattan, Florida State, West Virginia and St. Joseph (PA). That is quite a run, so the UNH win over Temple is indeed a big one. The Winthrop win is probably UNH's second best victory...still a big win (that many folks may not appreciate if they do not know of the Winthrop Eagles). Agreed! Winthrop is a consistent NCAA contender in the Big South and was just coming off a win over Big Ten member Illinois. If I'm they are the favorite to win the Big South this year.

It looks as though UNH will win or lose based on the play of Tanner Leissner. From the UNH site: Tanner Leissner, a junior from Converse, Texas, led the men’s basketball team to a 2-0 week with wins against Detroit Mercy University (86-70 at home, Nov. 23) and Winthrop University (65-60 on the road, Nov. 27). Both games were part of the NIT Preseason Tournament. At home against Detroit Mercy, Tanner scored a career-high 31 points on 9 of 13 shooting while nailing a personal-best 12 free throws. The 6-foot-7 forward also grabbed eight rebounds. At Winthrop, a Big South program, Tanner led UNH with 22 points and 14 rebounds for his third double-double of the season (13th career). It marked the first time all season he led UNH in both points and rebounds and the third time he led the 'Cats in rebounds. To get a sense of the UNH preseason NIT opponents, Detroit Mercy is currently 1-6, while Winthrop is 4-2 with wins over Manhattan and Illinois. That 65-60 win over the Eagles was a big one for the Wildcats. The Winthrop win was nice but I think the NIT win at 5-2 Temple was bigger.

It's always been a 7 pm start since the Cats released the schedule. Yes the time was set because of football as the thought was we might have a home game when the schedule was made. Always 1PM (until Tuesday) on our site Lou I saw that and I thought that was odd. I try to come to one or two Holy Cross games a year when you guys are not hosting UNH.

Prior to this season, North Dakota State has won this Championship FIVE STRAIGHT TIMES. How many Americans know that? How many Americans care? How many Americans know there is a North Dakota State? How many Americans know there is a North Dakota? My god, is this what we're spending Millions on? Football has become the tail that wags the dog at HC. It's a thousand pound anchor on our bball program. How many people would know of North Dakota State if the football team wasn't dominate? I doubt anyone. They are known now as a football power and a great place for a washed up FBS player to transfer to and play at a very high level. I think North Dakota State is a lot more then washed up FBS players. They have the great advantage of not having professional sports in their state and of being the team! They get a lot of players who are FBS level talents but just not Big Ten talent so they commit to NDSU. The state and the community love their team and you see it with the numbers they put up in attendance every year! That part of the country is a college sports first pro second mentality compared to New England where it's all about Pro Sports.

We didn't take Colgate seriously last year. UNH fan, you usually post reasonably. but this is a pathetic excuse for a playoff loss. Hoops, let me repost what I said earlier. This was in all of the newspapers this week with quotes from UNH's players you admitted they did not take Colgate seriously. They were looking ahead to JMU as they had beaten up Colgate at their place already that season. You might disagree with the logic but it makes sense. I don't think it's right as I'm a big respect your opponent no matter who they are guy and always have been.
Here is the post I made on this thread earlier that might clear it up for you...
"I can not speak for JMU but this week Crossan and DeAndre for UNH both when speaking to the media mentioned that last year they were looking past Colgate to JMU as they had handled Colgate pretty easily early on that season. They said their focus was only about 60% on Colgate as we saw based on the results last year when UNH didn't start to play until the second half and it was too late. Yesterday they treated their opponent with respect and prepared for a Lehigh team that many have called the best PL team in a few years. "
Let me assure you I'm not making this stuff up.
