If conference affiliation was a hindrance, the Patriots would never make the Super Bowl. Instead, they take the gift that they have in three inferior franchises being forced to play them multiple times a year, and parlay that into an automatic bid into the post season tournament. They separately leverage being a well-run, well-recruited, and well-coached franchise to massive regional popularity and championship wins at the highest level. A specialty of theirs is taking cast-aways or "your guys," and beating you with them once they are "our guys." The "inferior franchises" comment above was said somewhat facetiously with regards to many posters' remarks about Holy Cross in the PL today, versus where the college was 50 years ago. Association with Colgate is no good? Academically, recently, they've been rated ahead of HC... and they kick our asses in football over the last decade for the most part. Association with Bucknell is no good? Academically, recently, they've been rated at par or maybe slightly ahead of HC... and they kick our asses in basketball over the last decade for the most part. Get off your high horses. 50 years ago Holy Cross was a gem nationally for basketball and football and academics. 50 years ago Yugoslavia was a country and man just landed on the moon. Cell phones didn't exist. The internet didn't exist. The friggin' shot clock wasn't used in basketball. It's a different world. If the PL is such a dump, then we should be the shiny diamond in the rough and muck. Many of the old-timers that perpetually complain about the PL remind me of the guy with no job, living in his mom's house, pimply faced and out of shape, complaining that the hot girls at the party are a bunch of losers because they don't want to give him their numbers. You're blaming too many people for your own problems (or rather, HC's specific and own problems), and are disparaging those who have been able to outpace you on some vague notion of pedigree mattering in the present date. From an outsiders opinion well said. But you must remember your fan base are people nearing retirement and retirees. That is great for your women’s basketball as that’s usually the major fan base but living back in the glory days aren’t getting young people interested in your product.

Our Admission Office is the white elephant in the room. No one wants to talk about it--especially coaches. It's a third rail. It has needlessly handicapped our Athletics for DECADES by its overzealousness. same thing said at most other PL schools. Are the academic requirements different at each PL school?

Might this game be karma for the arrogant and self-righteous members of this board who think Holy Cross is superior to everyone? Congrats to Umass Boston great for those young men to get a chance and capitalize on their chance. So many of you on here that just live in the past and I realize it's an older board but goodness maybe this will help you see to love your team but also respect your opponents.

Every coach in America is going to yell and swear at the players. That is not going to change. If a kid can’t handle it then he can always transfer but not sure we’re you’ll go that it doesn’t happen especially in football or basketball. I’m sure even the great coaches as Coach K are known for their fiery language. Oh yes....just before every tip-off, Kazooski blesses himself.
And then proceeds to drop more f-bombs at the refs than can be counted !!
But I hear he goes to confession regularly 😁

Great effort today Holy Cross. Your kids played hard and fought for 40 minutes. Nice to see UNH lead wire to wire best of luck to your team this season. When a UNH basketball fan consoles us , we must have hit rock bottom . Very classy!

Not sure Dino Babers will survive the season at Syracuse after today’s home performance vs BC, a 56-27 loss that wasn’t that close. BC had 484 yards at the half and 691 for the game And what has happened to army?, now 3-6 after their 5th straight loss, this one to Air Force - they were favored in the other 4 games Injuries have derailed Army’s season especially to their lines. I was at Michie Stadium last weekend to watch Army play SJSU and they ended the game with their third string qb.

Massey lists HC's strength of schedule at #25! That says a lot. Harvard's SoS is 97 while UNH is #31 (getting a boost from playing HC). 🤔😳😂

SBU v UNH later today. Rumor has it SBU is a pretty fast team. Good luck at their place. FWIW Villanova over JMU with 1 minute left in the 3rd QTR. (Last week SBU lost to JMU in OT) Bucknell still up 26-14 over Colgate. 1 minute left in the game. No easy games in the CAA.

Looks like we have more speed than Brown and we saw some of that v UNH earlier. Things looking up and that tells me we're going to have more speed than our remaining PL competition. 😂

Lehigh, You make a great point about UNH. Throw in the fact that the PL commissioner called our AD to apologize for the td call in the end zone and maybe if they called it a safety we still win that game. It’s a funny game but credit to the PL commissioner for doing that it doesn’t change anything but a classy move. The PL Commish called me too and apologized for the sunburn I got in the stands.☺️ Only kidding of course, but was news of that apology published somewhere? I could imagine the PL Comissioner calling the UNH AD to thank him (or her) for playing a PL team or to discuss shared interests about Mid major D-1 athletics and saying something like "I'm sorry Coach Santos' first game had to end in such a heart breaking loss," or something gracious like that. But why should the PL apologize to UNH for the officials following the rules in a rare game situation that even fooled some of the players? Because when the Holy Cross player gained control of the ball he was out of bounds. It should have been a safety.

Thank goodness they did not blow the call on the UNH fumble. You can believe whatever you like to make yourself feel better. As you stated, it won't change the result. 😂

Just sharing facts. It’s still a win for your team. I just thought Lehigh made a great point and thought the story of your commissioner calling UNH tied into it. Have to call BS here in addition to SG (sour grapes). What would be the reason for the PL commissioner allegedly calling the UNH President to apologize for a call in an OOC football game at HC? Is the PL commissioner responsible for the refs at an OOC game at HC? Pretty sure we’re all in the same officiating alliance and the same guys are just as likely to be at a PL game one week as a CAA game the next. My dear sir you may call whatever you would like. I was just stating the facts it’s completely up to you whether you accept them or not. No matter what you think it won’t change the result which should make you happy my good sir. Refs blow calls every game and on that Saturday it benefited you. Next week who knows. Thanks for your feedback it’s much appreciated!

Based on what I've seen I give a slight edge to Fordham. They very easily could be 3-2. Georgetown and Holy Cross are probably 2A and 2B at this point. The Hoyas are legitimately "decent" i think. They have a real shot to win 8-9 games which is something no one else in the league can say imo. Holy Cross has to get their offense going. It's year 2 and there's been very little progress. Not trying to throw shade on HC's win over UNH but if the two were to play again I'd take UNH. I took HC four weeks ago given the circumstances surrounding the UNH program at that time. Since then Santos has had time to get comfortable in his head coaching role and their QB play has improved. Lehigh, Colgate, Lafayette and Bucknell are all varying degrees of awful. An argument can me made that Colgate is actually the worse of the lot. Colgate has lost 6 straight games and all of them have been lopsided. At least Lehigh (1 pt loss to St. Francis/win today) and Lafayette (played solid Monmouth and Penn tough) have shown some fight at times. Bucknell is just lost in the abyss.... Lehigh, You make a great point about UNH. Throw in the fact that the PL commissioner called our AD to apologize for the td call in the end zone and maybe if they called it a safety we still win that game. Fun win. Not surprising as UNH is down but fun nonetheless. Shotgun is to Chesney as bunting the cleanup hitter is to Dicenzo. Thank god we handed you the upset. If not I’m sure it would have been the usual blame Gilmore, this coach doesn’t have it, it’s Nate Pines fault, why aren’t we playing Notre Dame, whichever former President of the Cross you would be blaming, we were the show in the 50s, it’s only been since 2009 we were in the playoffs etc. Enjoy it but don’t become delusional fans. I don’t understand the arrogance of so many fans on this board. The lack of respect for certain schools that folks here feel are beneath Holy Cross shock me especially from Catholics. Enjoy your success and don’t go overboard with the losses. Support the fine young men and women that play for you but respect the opponents also. I understand most of you are retirees and this board is your thing but you can’t go back to your perceived glory days. The Big East, BC, Notre Dame are not your equals in today’s college sports landscape.

I’ll take that D3 stadium any day 😂. I’m not sure what you call Fitton the little concessions you have and running out of water and Gatorade is a bit like a high school operation. Ha ha. Two words: Lundholm Gymnasium. 🍎 and 🍊

Do hope Chesney takes a more active role in offensive game planning and calls. Would have won by a decent margin with even average OC play calling. Our D was really impressive. The margin against Navy was much more due to our inept offense. On another note, Fitton could use a makeover but honestly the track around UNH stadium has a D-3 feel to it. I’ll take that D3 stadium any day 😂. I’m not sure what you call Fitton the little concessions you have and running out of water and Gatorade is a bit like a high school operation.

Congrats gentlemen never thought we would beat our self but that’s what happen. A really bad loss for UNH but a game we deserved to lose. 2-2 after the four year series very impressive for Holy Cross for UNH embarrassing. Enjoyed my trip to Worcester minus the Cats handing you the game. It would be great to see you guys get a nice facility for the quality young men that play for your fine institution. I must say I was surprised by the cushioned seats and no chair backs. 30.00 for cushion on a bleacher your season ticket holders deserve better! Best of luck the rest of the way! Actually, we beat you 13-10. It was right there on the scoreboard. You need to get over this idea you have that UNH is still a much better program than HC. It is not. Your kidding me right? Your offense did not score a touchdown all day. UNH had the high snap that led to the one td you got when we fumbled. UNH’s qbs over threw and missed receivers the last leading to the interception. Come on I realize your a fan of the Cross but if you think Holy Cross won and UNH didn’t beat themselves I’m not sure what game you were watching. We played a ton of freshman, played our third string center due to injury and were without our head coach a recipe for disaster and it was. Enjoy the win but please don’t go to the usual extreme of upsetting a team and thinking you’re ready for Alabama. It’s been since 2009 since the Cross made the playoffs. Maybe the long drought ends. 2-2 with a CAA team enjoy it!
