Ivy League = Pussies. We need to play football in the fall, even without fans. Ignorance is bliss. 3 million cases 131,000 deaths in the United States. I don’t think this virus is just going to magically disappear as some do.

The first domino to fall. I believe the fcs will follow the lead of the ancient 8. FBS I’m sure will try to play but don’t think they will.

Same as folks that think this isn’t a big deal and it will just disappear one magical day. I believe the medical experts are not as confident as you or our leader. This isn’t fake news I’m afraid. Sadly our country did not and still are not taking this seriously and you see the results. As I believe Brazil and our governments did not take it seriously and the number of cases support this. On the contrary, I believe this is a dangerous virus that should be handled as such, but perhaps where we differ is that 1) we have seen that this virus disproportionately harms a small sector of society, and 2) if there is no vaccine in the immediate future, we are going to have to learn how to move forward and properly live with this virus. Those who wish to hide in their bunkers are welcome to do so, but I don’t believe shutting down colleges / schools and preventing businesses from re-opening is fair to the overwhelming majority. Just my .02, NH. Imagine if the media reported on the 85,000 deaths attributed to the flu a year ago as they have done with the big C? Also, speaking of the flu, the flu is much more likely to take the life of a young and healthy person than coronavirus is. Appreciate your .02 cents but am blown away by your position. I thought that would be the position of the uneducated who just believe what their leader or tv station tells them to not the opinion of someone with a college degree. I guess that is what scares me the most if some educated people have been so indoctrinated that wearing a mask means your weak, a sheep it violates your rights as an American than I don’t know what to tell you. I do hope that the numbers showing the USA with the most amount of cases will magically disappear and life will get back to normal but from listening to the medical professionals and scientists we have a long way to go. The last pandemic lasted two years I hope this is over sooner. It appears from this breaking news we have a long way to go... www.cnn.com/2020/07/08/health/us-coronavirus-wednesday/index.htmlNow I’m going to assume you won’t trust this news organization as your told not to but thought I would share it anyhow.

Because those Hollywood elites living in their bubble are always right on the mark. Give me a break. This country has seen ten straight weeks of a decline in the death roll attributed to the big C.

The patriot league will play, the Ivies will cancel all sports for the whole year. With the exception of Georgetown, there will be PL footbal.l and other fall sports albeit abbreviated. That is my opinion based on talks with officials from Lafayette. The Ivy decision will have no impact on PL thinking. We shall see. I would be in shock if the CAA played this fall or honestly any league. I truly wonder if we will have professional sports as each day the number of cases rise. It’s a shame that our country never took this seriously and now it’s rising across the country.

What an ignorant little man! You can’t have been educated at Holy Cross and be that arrogant and hateful. You must be one of those people that believes a certain person who is bragging that virus is not a big deal in 99% of people. I guess it’s true that a college degree doesn’t guarantee intelligence! I hope you and your family do not get this horrible disease but I’m sure you won’t cause your a big tough guy not a sheep. Give me a break!

Let the Ivies make all the bad decisions they want to make. We can think on our own and do the right thing. Amen. People need to stop acting like sheep. Mass. is in a much different situation compared to other hot spots in other parts of the country. The Ivies can continue to hide under their beds. Let’s not follow them as if they somehow have a better solution to the issue. You don't think we're going to see a spike here in New England and/or a second wave? Give me a break this is a pandemic and your concern is whether FCS football will be played or not? Stop please. I'm not sure we will see professional sports while they might begin I doubt we have a season. How about we get through this and keep as many people healthy as possible and maybe sacrifice a little bit by doing what is best for everyone. It's like a picture I saw on Facebook of Homer Simpson that says all the scientists, doctors , and nurses saying wear a mask, stay six feet apart, that this is a pandemic and dangerous but all of these people that barely passed high school science say it's no big deal. I don't know who to believe. I hope being a graduate of Holy Cross your the guy listening to the experts.

As the MEAC is imploding it appears that Howard is looking for a new home. While some think PL membership is where they should end up one gentleman is hearing the Ivy League for athletics.

Bowdoin announced they are cancelling all athletics for the fall semester. Domino effect incoming? Umass Boston as well. No in person classes there either. SNHU announced two weeks ago no in person classes for the fall semester but are still trying to figure out if they will have fall sports.

I curious, do you think she is more than likely to get the job after the "nationwide" kabuki dance search? Yes but they’ve have to follow the guidelines for a state job.

True, my comment was intended to be more along the lines of who, if anyone, will be retained. Also, we she bring anyone from UHN. Hogan Associate HC (who by the way was heavily recruit by HC) is the Interim HC at UNH. The remaining 2 assistants are relatively new, so no surprise if not. Of course the current HC staff is new also, Kirpas only 2 yrs, Healy (DOP) & Fitzpatrick were both new hires last season. Kelsey Hogan is the favorite to be the new head coach at UNH but UNH has to post the job and hold interviews. If Kelsey doesn’t get the job she’ll join Maureen.

I'm not denying the fact that UNH struggled getting kids through admissions compared to their peers in the AE, but Army is not a peer. In fact, Army and UNH are not in the same stratosphere. No disrespect. No I completely agree with you and that was my point. How can a kid be allowed in a one of the finest institutions the world but not into UNH?

An example I can give you is that UNH couldn't get a SG in a few years ago but that player ended up at West Point. First time in history this has happened? Hi no not all all. You can pick a sport and I can tell stories about players who wanted to come to UNH but were not admitted to the school. I realize the high standards of Holy Cross due to being a member of the Patriot League and probably the second best academic conference in America. That being said UNH is not in the PL and it makes it tough when the other AE schools can get kids in and UNH can't. The good thing is it's fair across the board in all sports as you can tell with hockey in recent years.

I think a big reason for Magarity taking this job is admissions. At UNH she has had to deal with admissions standards that are different at UNH compared to the other schools in the America East and had grown frustrated by that as all coaches have. UNH has the highest admissions standards of all the America East schools and the coaches never know what it will take to get a player in at any sport. It doesn't help that one of our new admissions directors is from Harvard. Ironically as some of you veterans on this board know UNH was offered full membership in the PL back when it looked like the CAA might become a southern league but UNH worked out a deal to get Stony Brook and Albany into the league keeping UNH where it was.
She knows the Patriot League as she coached at one of the premier schools in the world under her dad and is looking forward to being in a league where the admission standards are clearer across the board. An example I can give you is that UNH couldn't get a SG in a few years ago but that player ended up at West Point. She's a great coach who gave UNH nine great years and I wish her nothing but the best. The good news is she comes to a university that has a good size fan base for women's basketball and I think she'll do a good job.
Ironically I had heard that it was the Associate Head Coach Kelsey Hogan who had applied for your opening but it appears now as she will take over as Head Coach at UNH which as a former player and native of New Hampshire will be a great choice.

What happened to the discussion of the potential new Head Coach?? We had it. It’s Magarity. We like her. Now we’ve turned to what roster she’ll be inheriting. Questions on the table include whether Faulkner will be back and whether she’ll bring any of her UNH recruits with her, at least one of which picked UNH over HC. It can’t be the academics that drew her to UNH (that’s for unhfan) so it must have been the coach. Stay Classy Man!

One would think that your AD has a short list of coaches he would want to talk to. With your great history in women’s basketball I don’t think you’ll be hurting for applicants. Hope everyone is staying healthy and well as we go through this medical challenge!

Will 92 and Co. be allowed back at the TUC? Ya that could have been team 92 For those that weren't at the game, supposedly the lights were dimmer than normal and the PA volume was turned down lower than normal as part of an Autism Awareness Game Seriously, although well intentioned, not really a great promotion. I'm sure all the Siena season ticket holders were on top of it. I think there was one announcement about it before the game. Team 92 might not have been seated at that point. I heard the kids cheering especially when HC got it to within 4 with about 3 minutes to go. I didn't think anything about it, and quite frankly forgot all about the promotion until I saw the post here. If you weren't seated and paying attention to the PA guy before the National Anthem, you would have no way to realize there was a special autism event happening. The had little contests during time outs similar to Hart. Maybe the volume on the guy announcing that was turned down, but no way to tell. It was a nice idea and I'm sure they had the best of intentions, but kind of hard to pull off at a sporting event. At the very least, they should print out a leaflet and hand it to every person that walks in the door. Maybe even announce it again at the second half. After the game started, there was no way any visiting fan would know about the Autism Awareness Game or how it was different than any other Well that's not the narrative you want to come out of a game. The rowdy Holy Cross Fan base which I'm sure was not a lot of young people. If she realized that I don't think she would have posted that unless a lot of Holy Cross students or recent graduates turned out for the game.

If conference affiliation was a hindrance, the Patriots would never make the Super Bowl. Instead, they take the gift that they have in three inferior franchises being forced to play them multiple times a year, and parlay that into an automatic bid into the post season tournament. They separately leverage being a well-run, well-recruited, and well-coached franchise to massive regional popularity and championship wins at the highest level. A specialty of theirs is taking cast-aways or "your guys," and beating you with them once they are "our guys." The "inferior franchises" comment above was said somewhat facetiously with regards to many posters' remarks about Holy Cross in the PL today, versus where the college was 50 years ago. Association with Colgate is no good? Academically, recently, they've been rated ahead of HC... and they kick our asses in football over the last decade for the most part. Association with Bucknell is no good? Academically, recently, they've been rated at par or maybe slightly ahead of HC... and they kick our asses in basketball over the last decade for the most part. Get off your high horses. 50 years ago Holy Cross was a gem nationally for basketball and football and academics. 50 years ago Yugoslavia was a country and man just landed on the moon. Cell phones didn't exist. The internet didn't exist. The friggin' shot clock wasn't used in basketball. It's a different world. If the PL is such a dump, then we should be the shiny diamond in the rough and muck. Many of the old-timers that perpetually complain about the PL remind me of the guy with no job, living in his mom's house, pimply faced and out of shape, complaining that the hot girls at the party are a bunch of losers because they don't want to give him their numbers. You're blaming too many people for your own problems (or rather, HC's specific and own problems), and are disparaging those who have been able to outpace you on some vague notion of pedigree mattering in the present date. From an outsiders opinion well said. But you must remember your fan base are people nearing retirement and retirees. That is great for your women’s basketball as that’s usually the major fan base but living back in the glory days aren’t getting young people interested in your product.
