Rumors in the DC area are it is HC, but these are kids, and rumors are rumors. I will go out on a limb and say it will be one of the four schools he visited, but we will see what happens tomorrow.

We were pretty vanilla in what we ran on both sides on Saturday
Not sure a future opponent gets much from breaking down the film
That will change moving forward for us and the opponents

Agree, but the game has changed and perhaps those reactions are the norm- not a fan.
With respect to lowering the shoulder comment, I leave that up to the coaches to accept or fix. Film review will address the pluses and minuses of yesterday

Just think it is a bad regular season game for us
If the outcome was different today we lose twice- the game and rankings
We won the game and move on but they are ranked in the bottom half of FCS
While they are significantly better, and could eventually be a top 30 team, we get no credit for a 1-30 point win
Playoffs bring them on

Now we can expect Merrimack to be out for "revenge" next time these teams meet. Hopefully there is not another game vs Merrimackand the contract ends with this game

Everybody wanted to steal Stanton at the mid-lower level. He is big time and Fordham and others fought real hard to just stay involved. We offered but give the kid credit - he can play and the next century for him and his family is in good shape- imho

The FCS teams I watched last night appear to be improving overall team speed, quickness, and more talented options at the skill positions.

COLLEGE 'Going to be a great test': Holy Cross football opens Saturday at home against Merrimack Jennifer Toland Worcester Telegram & Gazette
WORCESTER — Before breaking the huddle at the end of Holy Cross football’s first game-week practice of 2023 on Tuesday, coach Bob Chesney reminded his rapt players, “Now it’s real.”
The No. 5 Crusaders concluded a competitive and productive training camp and, with anticipation high, turned their attention to Saturday’s season opener against Merrimack at Fitton Field.
“It’s a little different when you’re going against your own guys than when you have an opponent, another face, coming across the field from you on Saturday,” HC fifth-year senior linebacker Jacob Dobbs said. “You have to be prepared for everything. We know they’re an extremely talented team. It’s going to be a great test for us to open up the season.”
'We want to do a little more': Holy Cross football kicks up preparation at competitive preseason camp
Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
During a spectacular 2022, Holy Cross set a single-season program record for wins with 12, went 11-0 in the regular season for just the third time in program history, and was the first team to capture four straight outright Patriot League championships.
Holy Cross is the only Football Championship Subdivision team contending for a fifth consecutive league title this fall.
“Our confidence is as high as ever,” senior wide receiver Jalen Coker said. “I think we have a lot of expectations, but we’re going to continue to take it one game at a time, just work every day like we have been, and build on what we’ve already started.”
The Crusaders ride a 16-game regular-season winning streak into Saturday’s game.
A 31-17 win at Merrimack in Week 1 got Holy Cross rolling last season, but bad memories of the Warriors’ 35-21 whipping of HC in Worcester early in the 2021 season haven’t totally faded.
“The guys who played in that game know exactly what to expect,” Coker said. “They’re going to make us want it. They fight hard. They’re gutsy and talented. If we come out there flat, they will take advantage of that.”
As Holy Cross coach Bob Chesney pointed out this week, Merrimack went 7-1 in its final eight games of 2022. The Warriors were the No. 2 pick in the Northeast Conference preseason poll, and this is the first season they are eligible for the FCS playoffs. Merrimack transitioned from Division 2 to Division 1 in 2019.
“We’re excited for the opportunity against a really good team coming in here,” Chesney said. “It will be a great game, and we’re excited to get it started.”
Sophomore quarterback Gavin McCusker and senior tight end Pat Conroy are among those who stood out to Dobbs when he got a head start on last season’s film.
“Their offense is very talented,” said Dobbs, who had a team-high six tackles in last year’s opener. “Their quarterback is a real big athlete back there who runs and throws. You have to be prepared to defend the whole field against him. Their tight end is phenomenal. Their receivers make a ton of plays. They are very in unison in their run blocking, and they have powerful running backs. You have to be physically prepared to play this football team.”
McCusker began last year as a backup, but, due to injury, took over late in Merrimack’s Week 3 game at Harvard.
“He has great command of their offense,” Chesney said, “and he throws balls on time and very accurately. You can tell he understands coverages before the snap. He can diagnose them midway through the play and deliver that ball on time. When he pulls the ball down, it’s pretty exciting to watch him run. He’s very capable there, too.”
Last season, Merrimack had the NEC’s second-ranked scoring defense (22.8 ppg). HC was one of only two teams to score more than 28 points against the Warriors.
Holy Cross football coach Bob Chesney and the Crusaders are in pursuit of their fifth straight Patriot League championship. “Their defense creates matchups all across the board,” Chesney said. “There will be a lot of opportunities for one-on-ones throughout the course of this game.”
Saturday’s weather forecast calls for 79 degrees and sunshine, which is quite a contrast to the rain, wind and fog the Crusaders played through in their last home game, a 35-19 win over New Hampshire in the second round of the FCS playoffs last December.
“We’re just pumped to be opening up at home,” Coker said. “We’re just really amped to be back.”
Last year, the Crusaders averaged 11,618 fans in their five games at Fitton Field, and they drew 7,658 to their annual (home) game at Polar Park. The crowd of 17,592 that saw HC beat Fordham last season was the largest at Fitton Field since 1990.
“I remember my freshman year there being about 5,000 fans (for the regular-season finale victory against Georgetown, which clinched HC the PL title),” Dobbs said. “To watch the amount of support we’ve been able to gain throughout this whole thing, the momentum, the home-field advantage, is extremely fun as a player.”

The point we don't know or how to evaluate is how much we improve with this new class on the perimeter and can Declan make progress over the course of the season
If both are positive we just might enjoy a big turnaround this season
