NESN will be televising all of the WooSox home games. Most on their NESN Plus channel which is 760 in Worcester.
Hearing some events other than baseball in the works there this year. Still dealing with major construction zone down there but the park is very nice.

I spoke with a nurse in CT last week who said that some hospitals are seeing a surprising number of "break out" cases, vaccinated people testing positive for Covid. These are not just people testing positive but who are sick enough to be hospitalized, some of them relatively young (she mentioned one 40 year old). It's disconcerting when people get so shrill about vaccinated people still following precautions. No one ever said the vaccine would or is 100%. Nor would it fully prevent you from getting the virus. Are you suggesting masks for eternity? Utterly ridiculous. Why weren't people wearing masks already then? There's been viruses coming and going all the time.

How can you require it for students yet not faculty and staff?
That makes no sense.

...and either the Bradley kid from Worcester didn't get in or was pissed off that a couple of his buddies didn't; and ended up at Kentucky. I think, or rumor was, Bradley was looking at HC when he ended up transferring to 'Nova.

The IVY league is not a sports league that anybody would want to join. They are 50 years behind the other leagues. They also think people care about the Ivy League sports across the country. I know they canceled their season first before the COVID. But they still haven't brought back sports from it. -Don't let football play in the FCS playoffs. Yet they have some of the best teams in the FCS. I am surprised they let the other teams even play in the postseason. I hope the FCS thing changes with a new generation of people in charge but I doubt it. -Also they just canceled an entire season of sports. If they could get rid of sports they probably would. -They never do a thing for their fans. They all have giant stadiums for a lot of their sports and have 0 promoting. Everyone on this board talks about HC not having a local fanbase of not alumni people. What is the IVY local fanbases like? Some teams I am sure do better than others. But Brown, Columbia, Cornell, football fanbases are non existent right now. I hope it changes. The Ivy League is 50 years behind other league because they want to be. Next topic.

Good for them. Good for the Patriot League.
They know what they're getting into.

What happens to a regular HC student who maybe struggles with a class and needs more than eight semesters to graduate? Are they dismissed from school? Not if their check clears. They can also use some credits from summer school. If it's ok for a regular student to take more than eight semesters than it should be ok for an athlete.

Were the football players on campus during the fall semester? Not on campus would have meant no practice. Is it possible that some, knowing there were no football activities, took the fall semester off and are making that time up in the fall of 2021? No special academic needs because we're still looking at 8 semesters of under grad work What happens to a regular HC student who maybe struggles with a class and needs more than eight semesters to graduate? Are they dismissed from school?

The Patriot League has a terrible reputation athletically. It's a tough sell to grab a full-time, mainly football, member.
The League is what it is.

HE offers the only shot HC will ever have again to play in a highest level league in any sport. If it's offered, HC is accepting. Fact, not opinion. 100% Correct. Takes two to tango and I really don't believe, at this time, HC has any interest in pursuing HE. I'm sure Nate Pine did pursue it. I could be and hope I'm wrong.

Holy Cross players posting on Instagram flying out of Worcester. Going to miss Asante in this game. Anybody know what happened to Ayeni? Go Cross Go ✝️✝️✝️ Getting out of Dodge early during the pandemic: smart NCAA drives the bus on transportation at this level. Holy Cross has no say.

It's good, though I wouldn't say "perfect." It does follow the template I think we should (and are mostly) follow of: 1 FBS UConn is a good, possibly winnable FBS game but I'd rather more of a "reach" most years. 2-3 Ivies Preferably NE Ivies, for historical purposes and ability to attend on road. 1-2 Strong FCS, Monmouth does fit this bill now. Again, preferably NE CAA for the reason stated above for the Ivies though an "out of the box" every few years ala Montana, Delaware, Furman etc would be fun. 1-2 Very winnable on paper type FCS games....NEC, Pioneer, MEAC etc No offense to CCSU but they sort of fit this mold. My perfect 11-game OOC schedule (in 2024 and 2025 we can schedule 12 games) would be something like this: BC Harvard Yale MontanaPick your cupcake Montana???Are you looking for a home-and-home so we can do some recruiting in the fertile football hotbed Billings metro area? Then again--maybe a autocorrect typo and you meant Monmouth? Can't you just play a game to play a game? Montana would be awesome and a great step-up.

The NCAA tournament selection officials have NO respect for the Patriot League. And this year with their champ playing only three games, at the league's own doing, I don't blame them. This will never change. Never? I believe one win could change that substantially. Patriot League has won NCAA Tournament games before....

Cue Rodney Dangerfield: "I get no respect!" Still not sure how we could be ranked lower than SHU and Davidson (although considering ND beat SDSU who knows might be easier than Jax St). Surprised JMU isn't 1. Tough get for Monmouth too. The NCAA tournament selection officials have NO respect for the Patriot League. And this year with their champ playing only three games, at the league's own doing, I don't blame them. This will never change.

The NCAA covers travel for The Dance, but it is not clear that the NCAA covers travel for the first three rounds of FCS. The language is specific to the championship game. Herosports' bracketology has HC traveling to SDSU, the #2 overall seed. The writer lapses into contorted reasoning on why JMU is the #1 seed, while having the #74 strength of schedule, and has three CAA schools in the field of 16. Sacred Heart would travel to Weber State. The NCAA covers cost. If HC plays at South Dakota the NCAA will drop a chartered jet into Worcester Airport for them since commercial options are limited. Bean counters can relax.

Coach Chesney post-game interview in talking about the Crusaders: "Their commitment is second to none." Says it all but clearly his leadership is tremendous. A lot of athleticism on display out there this afternoon and ultimately a total team effort.
I also very much appreciated his statement that it was too bad that the parents of the Holy Cross players could not have been there. What a total embarrassment on behalf of Bucknell and the Patriot League, especially given the manner in which those in attendance were seated in that one section. That said, let's focus on the VICTORY.
IMO, Winning the Patriot League consistently is not and should not be the ceiling or the goal for the Crusader Football program. There is no reason that the Cross cannot be and should not be a Top Ten FCS program with a very real chance of winning the national championship.
Think Big!!
Holy Cross: in terms of Athletics, A FOOTBALL SCHOOL with the Crusader Football program being one of the vehicles for elevating the Mission and the Vision of Alma Mater overall.
Let Football set the standard for our other teams to operate.
Let's Win!! This post says it all. Congrats to Coach and the Crusaders. A beat down victory. If I'm the rest of the PL I'm singing Chesney's praises to everyone in hopes he gets hired out of the league.

Their administration enacted this rule because they believe it's in the best health interest of their community I'm surprised Bucknell has permitted their student-athletes to travel to away games, which would be much more dangerous than having a handful of additional fans sprawled out in an open-air stadium. Just add it to the pile of hypocrisy and things that don't make any sense.

On the new softball field. My guess is that the new field will be sited on Freshman Field, reversing the current field orientation, with home plate tucked into the slope of the hill. My guess is that the elevation of the field will be raised by several feet (to reduce flooding risk) and that field turf will be installed. New locker rooms for softball will be built between HC facilities building and SE Corner of Fitton stands. From a quick glance at the flood plain maps, the current site of the softball field is at greater risk of flooding than is Freshman Field. The baseball field and the football field are proximate to a regulated flood zone, which probably means you can't berm the perimeter of the baseball field, and reduce the risk of flooding. The regulated flood zone was probably established as a consequence of I-290 construction, particularly the ramp from Southbridge St. headed west. goo.gl/maps/kco2ynHnxsv2MmTa7Google streetview looking toward College Sq and Southbridge St. Note lower row of windows on the old factory building are bricked/boarded up. On the newer building (closest to Southbridge St.) the slight discoloration of the lower course of brick may indicate high water marks. Because the culvert for the Middle River, which runs next to the football stadium, has a restricted opening, the river in flood will back up at the culvert and spill over into College Square and the baseball field and the football field goo.gl/maps/9qmhrozxLPKjdjVT9Google streetview from McKeon Rd. at the bridge over the Middle River, looking at the north stands. Middle River can't be seen, as it is flowing underground in the culvert. This area is also classified as a regulated floodzone. If there are street or yard drains carrying stormwater runoff from College Square and the baseball/football stadiums directly into the Middle River, the river, in flood, will backflow up into those drains and flood the playing fields and College Sq. I'm no scientist or whatever but if this notorious Flood Plain of Fitton is such a burden how were the Tornadoes able to completely build a permanent baseball stadium there?

Hmm....is there something going on under the surface here ? Was it ever explained how Bucknell got to host ? FWIW, I'm getting vibes that HC maybe isn't on perceived equal footing at league's HQ nor amoung the Pennsy brotherhood. BTW, what has our AD said about this bunk ? IMO Holy Cross had no intention of ever hosting this game. The Patriot League better not go to any High School Football games in Massachusetts....Kids are getting great support from parents and students. I hope HC beats the living crap out of Bucknell.....send a message to everyone.

The most ridiculous thing is that if you ask Mr. Truax the rationale behind this policy he, nor anyone at Bucknell, can give you a valid reason.
We should be well-beyond this point.
