However, there is now something close to numerical equality between Catholics and Protestants in the North. Brexit made the current situation less "comfortable" for those in power locally. In short, there is hope for reunion - and that is coming. Perhaps HC fans and players can be there to celebrate when it is announced. Nothing to do with HC playing on the other side of the pond, but Northern Ireland athletes have been participating with the Republic of Ireland in a number of international competitions for a few years now. There is actually a separate anthem and flag for such competitions

Hoops- So it's economics. Talk about a blind eye..... The conflict that goes back 400 years has always had a deep rooted sectarian aspect, mainly Presbyterian-Catholic.

Will these two games replace the $$$ games like syracuse and UNC? Would make the schedule a little easier in a rebuilding year. Smart.

Will these two games replace the $$$ games like syracuse and UNC? Would make the schedule a little easier in a rebuilding year. Smart. I will assume you mean the Syracuse and South Carolina games played back in November. They were technically tournament games (Broolyn Hoops Classic) and not buy games even though they were on the opponents home court. The only real buy game by definition that Holy Cross played was URI. I would think these will replace the Brooklyn Hoops Classic games from this past season. The problem however is that was four games this past season and the Belfast tourney is just two games. Crusaders were fortunate to get two home games this year without any reciprocation. Crusaders have two more games they will have to schedule now making buy games very likely. I believe that Holy Cross will likely play both UMass and URI on the road next season as part of 2-1 series (would guess host URI at the DCU Center in 2019).

It was my understanding that the game at URI this past year was a one time buy game. Since then there are reports that the two schools have agreed to a future new 2-1 game series with URI getting two home games at the Ryan Center on its campus and one game hosted by Holy Cross at the DCU Center. This is the exact same arrangement that Holy Cross has with UMass, another A-10 member.

So we have 3 more games with uri? Sorry. I had it wrong. Went back and looked at a post by Mike Laprey who does the URI scheduling. The game this season was not a buy game as it was the first game in the three game 2-1 series. URI will play Holy Cross at the DCU Center next year and the Crusaders will visit Kingston the following season to conclude the series.

When was the last time URI came to Worcester? I remember we played them in Kingston in December 2009 in a "buy" game.

The teams have met once in Providence (1982) and four times in Kingston (2005, 2009, 2015, & 2016) since the Rams last visited Worcester. Holy Cross leads the series 26-14 and have hosted 17 games.

Should we pretend to be Jasper alumni to take advantage? Exclusive of parents, how many HC fans will attend? 20?

Should we pretend to be Jasper alumni to take advantage? Exclusive of parents, how many HC fans will attend? 20? Tough call. Lots of HC people have Irish roots. Every few years the alumni association runs a sightseeing trip there. While there are probably lots who have been to Ireland, I would guess a small fration have been up north. Not sure what fun stuff is in the area other than Giant's Causeway, but you might be surprised at HC people who want to see Northern Ireland
