Andalusia? Amalfi Coast? Paris? In a NY minute. Belfast? Not so much. Will HC stream the games?

Perhaps some posters of Irish ancestry have a different view

I see that Norwegian Air has nonstop flights from Stewart to Belfast. Beats a two hour bus ride after a 6 hour flight!

Think HC will be organizing any flights - or a trip/events in addition to the two games while there ?

Perhaps some posters of Irish ancestry have a different view Wrong part of the island for most Irish Catholics. I would not think many HC posters have ties to the Protestant majority of the six northern counties.

There is no wrong part of the country for most Irish Catholics or Protestants. One does not have to be Catholic to be "of Irish ancestry", or just to be connected to only the Republic of Ireland. it was and will again, maybe sooner rather than later, be one country again.

However, there is now something close to numerical equality between Catholics and Protestants in the North. Brexit made the current situation less "comfortable" for those in power locally. In short, there is hope for reunion - and that is coming. Perhaps HC fans and players can be there to celebrate when it is announced.

Will likely have more Catholics than Protestants within a few years.

There are some sources that have the margin even closer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Northern_IrelandMy point is that those associated with Holy Cross are predominately Catholic and have no connections to the Protestant population of the six northern counties. My family however may not be the norm for most American Irish Catholics as some of my ancestors came from the northern counties of Tyrone and Armagh.

I made one business trip to Belfast many years ago. People were as friendly there as in the Republic. Took a cab from the airport and by the time I got to my meeting the driver and I were like old friends. I'm sure our HC party will have a great time there

My ancestors (going back a couple of generations) were IRA members (but not Provos). This is why we have a branch of the family in Bolivia. Reunion would not be without its bumps, but they would welcome it. After all the colors of the Irish flag (green, orange and white) represent Catholic, Protestants and the White representing Unity. It would mean changes to some of the anti-Catholic measures still in place in the North, but the process of change is already underway. The leaders in this have been women (grieving mothers on both sides) and the young people of Ireland.

Here we are in 2017 and it's religion that's separating two "countries." Religion.....it's a wonderful thing......NOT! (Then, of course, you've got Islam. But don't get me going.) Cue the Believers in 3,2,1....

It's been economic for many years, not religion, that has separated the two. which it is why economics will be the factor that reunites them.
