OK, Phreek, if you got Fr. B's letter, you are at least a member of the PC. But fess up, without identifying yourself, is your name carved on the Cornerstone Society "monument?" No, he has his own monument AND he has a hill named after him!

No, he has his own monument AND he has a hill named after him! That I do!! _______________________________ As for the Cornerstone Society, I need first to gain possession of at least one of the family castles, like this one. There are also some churches that the family built, but it seems these have mostly fallen to ruin or worse. Ste Begga de Landen built six, but none survive. She and her husband are buried in a church in Belgium, but that church was built a thousand years after her death. Ste. Begga and St. Arnilf are both in my direct line, as is another bishop. One of the Irish churches the family helped support over many many decades. The other family church, the poor relations side of the family, I've discovered is Church of Ireland. When HC looks for money, that's the one I point to. I was told by a relative that the family is still being buried there, even last year.

I did see someone late on Sunday evening of Reunion Weekend with a hammer and chisel near the monument. Perhaps his name is there...now.

Took the grandkids a couple of times the last 2 weeks to PVD airport to see the planes, etc. and noticed the billboards as well as the work on the runway extension. The relatively short runways were what prohibited planes from flying to the west coast when I was making my many trips across the country as the planes could not load enough fuel and still take off.
Guess this will all be happening soon!

I've given very explicit instructions for the statue to be "family", and suggested they couldn't do better than to copy this. His great, great grandson, my third cousin at the time,.led an army on the First Crusade.

Anyone else signed up for Northern Ireland yet? My wife and I are looking forward to seeing HC's young team play in the Emerald Isle, but it would be nice if we had some company!

It's 50-50 whether or not my wife and I attend. Others are going. Only wish it was a more desirable for me destination-wise.

If you do not like Irish.cities, there are many spectacular sights along the nearby Antrim coast, such as Giant's Causeway

Average day time temp in dec is 45 As far as rain, it can rain at any time of year in .Ireland, rarely an all day affair the day in July when we were there was rainy. We had an excellent city bus tour and a fascinating afternoon at the Titanic museum, a modern, experiential, history based place.

Weather not conducive to sight-seeing. I have been over late Nov/early Dec. I didn't go any farther north than Knock (Mayo), but weather wasn't an issue - even walking home from a pub at night. Granted Belfast is a little more north and on the ocean, but I wouldn't not go because of weather. Just bring an appropriate jacket Ireland is nicer in August than the first week in December, but that doesn't make it bad

While that wall may have come down, the main Peace Wall is still up. It is 45 feet high and runs nearly 2 miles. And the gates between the two communities still are in use and are open during the day. If you are making the trip in December, I highly recommend The Black Cab Tour. We were in Belfast this week; the tour is fascinating, heartbreaking and educational. The differences between the two communities are still present; the violence is not.
And there was a nice billboard near the arena promoting college basketball. Anthony Thompson is on the board. Always great to see a Crusader (oops, is that now a banned word?) when abroad. I have a picture and will try to figure out how to post it later!
