Where is the poster who declared that HC baseball is "a waste of resources" and "a dead sport walking"? Right here..... and it is on both counts.

I also think we bunt too much but overall coach DiCenzo is a genius. How we win with the institutional support he gets is incredible. Go Cross Go!

Watched a couple of earlier games this season on Patriot Network, got hooked on yesterday's doubleheader and watched both games. We seem to have a bit more baseball talent (compared to some others in the Patriot League) so kudos to the coaching staff for signing the right sort of student athletes and developing them to the level necessary to compete for championships in our current league.
Stable of pitchers looks particularly solid (or at least it did in the double header). Tells me the development of the players is a particular strength of the coaches.

13 seniors, many of whom are key pitchers Future ?

Future = Holy Cross has 15 pitchers on the roster. Eight of them graduate this year and seven return along with any incoming frosh. I would imagine that HC will be bringing in a few more pitchers in this class to offset the loss of 8 arms.

GD is a solid recruiter and a very good judge of talent. I'm sure the incoming frosh will be good.

The returning pitchers accounted for 84 of 375 innings pitched to date--no further breakdown of starting vs. relief, mid-week vs. weekend, etc.

Castellani is mowing them down - bison leading 4-0, batting in the 8th. they are a very dangerous team with van hoose and castellani two very good starters, and you only need 2 wins in a best of 3 series
next year will be a challenge for sure, imo. 'zero' weekend (league) starting pitchers return, as well as catcher, 1st base, lf and rf all graduating. some of the soph and frosh pitchers had tough seasons (barlok and hedaya as examples).
agree - it's all about next weekend - can we hope for a home field advantage with a rowdy crowd at fitton ?

May not be too large a crowd. finals will be over, many seniors will be at Cape week

As I noted earlier in this thread, the championship cannot happen next Sat-Sun with Bucknell involved. It will either be a weekday series, or the last weekend in May. This isn't speculation, it was told to me by the athletic staff.

Bison sweep Navy by winning 5-0. Crusaders host, whenever that actually is.

I don't doubt those that know bucknell's plans, but it is common in many d.1 conferences not to alter the playoff schedules in softball, baseball, lacrosse etc.. and senior student athletes miss their graduation ceremony.

The schedule shows individual games Friday, Saturday, Sunday but no times listed. Based on Bison's comment, could we see Friday and a possible double-header on Saturday if Bucknell graduation is Sunday?

Great to get to and host the finals. Bucknell's two starters looked great this weekend. I'am thinking ( hoping ) that we get to one of them and then win game three for the title !!

Last time they hosted Bucknell in the Finals, it was a Friday/Saturday series but my inside sources state that the series will be played with a single game on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Patriot League policy has always been to work the schedule around graduation ceremonies. That has happened several times in baseball.
