James Butler is walking on at Drexel, not Towson. A walk-on is immediately eligible if they were not recruited for the sport, not sure if he was at Navy or not.

Yikes, Drexel, short term memory loss. Saw Butler play in an all star game. Said he was a navy recruit as does VC.

Butler was on the Navy team first semester last year, but couldn't earn any playing time. Played in garbage time, then left the team about the time PL play started. As for eligibility, it is irrelevant whether he was recruited for the sport. Unless there is something unusual about his situation, he will have to sit out a year. Btw, the Drexel coach is Zach Spiker, former Army coach. Drexel went 3-15 in the CAA in his first year, matching their final year under Bruiser Flint. His star player is freshman Kurk Lee Jr., whose father was a star at Towson. Team should be at least a little better this year.

Kyran McClure from Navy to St Leo McClure played almost exclusively for the Navy JV team. Was not on their travel roster at any point and didn't figure to ever see real playing time. Won't be a loss.

I got to watch Lee play several games in 1989 and 1990 when the ECC tournament was played entirely at the Towson Center. As I'm sure you know, over the two years he played at Towson, he averaged about 26 ppg. Great player. That was just before the start of the Patriot League, and the ECC consisted of Towson, Drexel, Rider, Delaware, Hofstra, Bucknell, Lehigh, and Lafayette. In earlier years, Temple, LaSalle, and St. Joes were members.

Rivera-soph 17 mpg 5 ppg 2 rpg But he had lost his rotation spot late in the year - which likely is why he transferred. The transfer was announced March 16th, but he had a hard time finding a spot. Wagner had three players transfer out, two of whom played major minutes, so they needed to add some bodies.

Some guys know right where they are going and the transfer process may go smoothly. On the other hand, think of the pressure on players like Rivera, who essentially say: "I just want to get out of here and I'll take my chances on landing a suitable spot........"

At the start of June, a source on the American board said it looked like he was going to end up D2 due to lack of interest.

Lafayette j orender to walk on at berkeley Orender was a walk-on who rarely got off the bench at Lafayette. He committed to Cal a couple of months ago. You can guess what his chances are of getting any playing time there.
