Well, here's what I think is the final nail in Stacom's HC HOF coffin . . . . he's in the PC basketball HOF. friarbasketball.com/providence-college-hall-fame/Career averages: Points: 18.1 Rebounds: 3.5 Assists: 3.9 Steals: N/A I instructed my landscaper to give him a raft of sh1t from "a Holy Cross alum" when he saw him earlier this week. He assured me he would but you never know. He may want to keep his account with Stacom.

Not one easy game on that slate. Helluva schedule for what should be a top 100 team.

Deceptively challenging for the 2017-18 purple knights. Can't wait for the Assumption game which should be an excellent competition.

And NY area fans deserve at least one shorter drive.

The preliminary league schedule has been available on the PL website for two years, but it hasn't officially been released yet - presumably because the TV games aren't finalized, which will cause some schedule changes. That may be why HC hasn't listed the league games, which is the same as Bucknell.

Should I be encouraged by the fact that the player whose picture appears next to the OOC schedule is Marcellus Perkins? Would love to see him stay healthy and have a chance to play this year.

With Sacred Heart, it's not by any means a snobbish or superiority thing with me (they have, after all, beaten us more than I care to remember). I just wonder why we've consistently played them over 4 different coaching regimes, when there are plenty of other schools in the NY/NJ area that HC could rotate home-and-homes with. Just odd to me.
Overall, I'm fine with the schedule for this year; I think it creates the platform for improvement without destruction (of confidence). Next year, I would expect the schedule to ramp up.

Great to see Iona and Siena back on the schedule, but it's a HUGE miss to have no marquee games on the schedule.

The huge miss would be the paycheck. That said, I don't think it is bad to have a real "test" game or two generally. But not this year. Too many inexperienced players. Good decision by Carmody and/or Pine. Next year, bring 'em on.

Time to lose Sacred Heart off the schedule. We need to upgrade if we want to recruit better athletes. Bucknell has the right idea.

Based on where we are as a team, this is a well-constructed schedule. I think challenge games like Duke or UNC can be great learning tools in the right circumstance, but only if you can semi-compete. Getting steamrolled does absolutely nothing for the team except generate some income. Any positive exposure created by these games immediately negates itself when you get creamed, and you end up embarassing yourself.
Get some wins, get the program rolling, and then upgrade further, like Bucknell has done. Upgrading first will lead to nowhere.

Or pretend we were in the game with UNC again! So fun. Ridding ourselves of Sacred Heart or FDU and getting a name team on the schedule would have made this a nice OOC slate. I really like the solid mid-majors we have: Iona, Siena, URI, Harvard, and UMass.

I will see many of the regulars from the NY area at the SHU and FDU games, they always come to the games. Happy to have these games to go to, and FDU should be a perfect stop on my way to MD for the holiday
