Remember when people were suggesting Peter not come back....Ha! Well, one person to be precise...and he has admitted his mistakes in the past. IIRC he was speaking about next season - thinking this was a rebuilding year in any case.

If I've read the report correctly, nine freshmen saw action yesterday:
#2 Grant Holloman, DB, made 4 tackles #8- Tenio Ayeni, WR, caught 2 passes #11 Josh Hicks, DB, made 3 tackles #30- Kendrick Knight, LB #39 Benton Whitley, LB-- Thanks, Breezy, for pointing out my oversight #57- Jordan Jackson, DL #63 Brian Foley, OL #68 Jack Bowler, OL #75 John Brekke, OL #97 Jackson McLarty, PK, made an extra point

Not the easiest concept to define and even harder to implement, but you know it when you see it. #LetsWin . . . #pride . . . #12thMan

As great as Peter has been, it's our D that has impressed me this year. I have some strong feelings about this. As I've said several times in past threads (without generating any substantive feedback), HC went into the new scholarship era with a couple of very large handicaps. First, HC was initially limited to 57 scholarships rather than the full PL allotment of 60 schollies. Second, the PL roster limitations that were imposed as part of the move to scholarships adversely affected HC because HC had a rather large roster (as many as 105 players) prior to scholarships, and had to cut down to the PL maximums. As a result, HC focused on offense for the first scholarship class -- Pujals, Guild, Flahery, Wieczorek, and 5 OLs. The only members of the initial scholarship class that played significant roles on defense were LB Kyle Young and DB Luke Ford. (This does not to minimize that last year's defense also benefited from two 5th-year seniors -- Dwayne Cameron and Ryan Smith). It was the second scholarship class (this year's seniors) that was more focused on the defensive side -- and I think we are seeing the fruition of that class' development in the improved defense that has been on display for the first three games of this season. Seniors on defense this year include McBeath, Kutschke, Zobrest, McCaffrey, Muhammad, Stratton, and Tyler as starters. In short, we are finally seeing HC with a level playing field with other PL teams in terms of scholarships. (None of this is to imply that HC will run victoriously through the PL this year. Some of the other teams that were thought to be better than they have shown thus far are still fully capable of turning their seasons around. But HC certainly has the capability to beat each of the other PL teams, and I expect each of those games to be closely fought and probably determined by things like good execution and turnovers, not by talent differential.)

Congratulations to CTG, his staff and the team for an outstanding game today! UNH may not be what they were the last couple of years but beating them in all phases of the game and by that score is certainly an impressive win!
Throughout the game I felt like it was the "visitors" who were beating "us" so badly, having seen that movie so often over the years! And, even being up by 3 or 4 scores somehow felt it was not going to be enough to pull out the "W"!
If we can keep playing this way consistently, we may have something special taking shape before our eyes!
Beat Dartmouth!!!
(BTW - I do not like the new uniforms! But, hell if we win with them, I just might have to reconsider! ) I had the same feeling about the big lead maybe turning out not to be enough. No doubt due to the many late game collapses during the Gilmore regime. And, indeed, we didn't play especially well as the fourth quarter ground along. But, that being said, this was a most impressive win. The staunch effort against UConn was no fluke. We're obviously recruiting better players and more of them. And the new assistant coaches also clearly deserve tons of credit. ON TO HANOVER!

simply a fantastic win yesterday!
while peter was absolutely incredible (what a warrior), it was nice to see the defense (the limiting factor for many years under gilmore) and running game continue its strong play. we may indeed be the team to beat in the pl.
i agree with the announcers that finishing the game strong - and not letting the lead dwindle down to a close victory/loss as has been the case so man times - should be a further confidence builder going forward.
i think we're starting to see what gilmore can do with a level playing field.

One other note about the defense that was apparent to me yesterday -- I can't recall an HC defense ever blitzing and applying so much pressure on the QB as this one. Typically under TG, HC's defense has been much more conservative. Not this one.

Well, for many posters, if we go forward from here, it'll be because of Peter Pujals just like it was Dom Randolph and the wins will have nothing to do with Coach Gilmore. Gilmore was "dumb lucky" to get Randolph and will be "dumb lucky" that he got Pujals. agree 100%. this argument never made a bit of sense to me for several reasons. first, it was gilmore who recruited dom, and recruiting is part of the job, so why on earth was he penalized for dom's success? secondly, let's assume that gilmore was lucky in landing dom, the success of that offense (and team) was just as much a function of the exceptional offensive line that we had during those years. those guys were absolute beasts and paved the way for the productivity. was gilmore lucky to land all five of them, too?!? very specious argument. in any event, while yesterday's win was nice, we need to build upon it and compete for the pl championship for it to have really meant anything for the program beyond one nice win.

To put it into perspective, if yesterday's near perfect performance could be bottled and re-used every week, we won't lose another game during the regular season. We've shown what we can do. Objective now is to stay healthy and keep our collective foot on the gas. If we get out on top, Dartmouth should be another convincing win. Seems like we may have finally broken the curse of the second half collapse.

According to the roster, that #81 is a freshman, Will Sirmon #31 not 81: it was Gabe Guild

A question for the faithful. Is there a QB on the current roster that will be able to step in and keep this success going?

A question for the faithful. Is there a QB on the current roster that will be able to step in and keep this success going? Many people are high on 6-6 freshman QB Connor Degenhardt--believe he was a 3 Star recruit, son of a Crusader football alum. I am taking "keep this success going" to mean next season.

Connor Degenhardt, a three star freshman recruit, is the highest rated QB on roster and we are very bullish about him.

Yes I'm talking next year. I think the Cross wins the PL this year and goes dancing! It sounds like 6-6 QB that success should continue!

We should also not overlook Geoff Wade who will probably put up a good fight for the starting position next year

I agree and Wade filled in very well last year, but if the game is a blowout (a real possibility), they might want to see CD get his feet wet as well.
Who runs the opponent's offense against our #1 defensive lineup in game prep?

By the way--Martin Dorsey, having played sparingly in his first two seasons (1 reception--but that was for a touchdown), entered the record books twice yesterday as his 86 yard TD reception is tied for 4th longest of all time and his 165 receiving yards in one game is tied for 8th.

I went to the game yesterday, first football game in many years. I was impressed with the energy the team played with, on both sides of the ball. It will be great to see this team get on a roll and open some eyes in Worcester..It bodes well for HC sports in general, bringing up the publicity level that a winner does.. I also had the priviledge of meeting Joe Wilson, one of the best running backs that HC has ever had. I did "meet" him once on the football field in a HS football scrimmage. I filled the hole from my linebacker spot, and he reopened it, hardest hit I ever took! He played with the Patriots after graduation..Now retired after 27 years with GM, lives outside of Philly....He liked what he saw on the field..Rod DeLever was with him (football and hoops player)..
