AC plays at home this weekend, anyone going on a scouting mission?
They're playing Cal, as in California University of Pennsylvania. The Penn. State U league is well represented in the tournament. Indiana, Shippensburg and West Chester all got in, the latter two play each other in the first round. Looks like 28 teams made it.
AC is a 3 seed, that's pretty good as no one around here has done much in that tournament in quite a while.

Okay, refresh our memories: who are your top candidates? Mine? Hull McGovern Malone Chesney And I like what I've read here about Caruso. ADNP would only have chance to see Chesney and Caruso "in action", although I'm guessing he's seen Lee working in the past.

I think if you're going to look to D2 coach Pince should be a part of the conversation.
I think we should be looking at young FBS coordinators looking for an opportunity to make a move and prove themselves as a Head coach.

Whoever it is, I would hope that we have them for at least 4 - 5 years (with a buy-out for failure to produce and built in bonuses for success). Losing someone good after 2-3 years could be another upheaval of major proportions.

Interesting observation. Haven't attended practices but after watching a few games his teams are well coached and his record speaks for itself. Can't imagine he would ever leave assumption fo a coordinator job at HC.

I know two players that Chesney recruited. They could not be more excited about the team and are totally loyal to their coach. He has also raised some average athletes to a much higher level at Assumption. It is his program - of which he is very proud. I have to agree that if he were to move, it would be head coach or nothing.

Compensation wouid need to be similar. From what I understand, HC has not approached Chesney at all.

No one on this board will have any influence on the decision, so why spend all this mental energy in useless speculation!?! I'm as purple as the next of you, but surely we all have more productive uses for our time. Maybe Alma Mater will hit a home run...but maybe not. Either way, there will be plenty of opportunity for comment once TPTB announce their decision. And comments there will be from this board, that's for sure!

You're going to judge Chesney's record on one game after they clinched the league prior?

Not to mention Assumption played their 2nd string QB the whole game.

No offense to Chesney, but if the fate of the HC football program lies in the hands of someone who has only coached at Salve Regina and Assumption, we might as well call it quits now.

It's going to take a hire that somehow says "wow" (old HC connection, a wunderkind at the FBS/FCS level or something out of the box {not a D2 or D3 hire} ) to turn this program around imo.
It's basically an existential hire....get it wrong...Holy Cross football probably folds within 10 years.

Who do you think HC will land 87? Nick Saban? Hate to burst your bubble, but any PL job is not exactly looked at a "dream job". As Cmo notes, very doubtful Chesney will ever get a sniff from NP (though he should), so sleep easy. And it's pretty clear you know squat about the remarkable turnaround Chesney has achieved and his renowned recruiting skills.

Get it wrong and that it is for the upward trajectory. Just like the kids aren't tripping all over themselves to get to Mount Saint James for football, it may be the very same for quality coaches. An old HC connections says 'wow'? No, just no.

This is a "comment" board, so by it's very nature speculative commentary is really the only function that it serves.
