The John Wooden- Dean Smith philosophy. Let them play through adversity. No time outs.

. . . . and you can blame it all on the coveted Cousy bobblehead!

Honoring 4 teams that played in the NCAAs Can you name them without looking it up ? Which 4? Coach Willard took four teams by himself. 15 years since Willard's 2003 team 70 years since Cousy and crew tried to defend their title in 1948 I can name other teams that danced, but those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head with nice round numbers --------------------------------------------- Just adding on that it's 25 years since the first PL title and the game vs Arkansas with Masburn. Powell, Walker, Breslin, and Farkus

Basketball men's alumni day Saturday also, don't remember seeing that mentioned before today Not usually publicized, but becoming fairly common on Homecoming weekend. Younger players will have a game. Most in attendance will be announced and be on floor at halftime. Just checked schools website. Not listed as an official winter homecoming event

With the amount of people that are going to be there, they better run over a bad Lafayette team that has no business winning.

In the first game JF took only 6 shots, making 5, and took no free throws. He played 25 minutes. I think we have a big upside with him in this second game vs Laf. In last four games he has taken 8-9-10-13 2 point field goal attempts. Let's target him for 30+ minutes of play and 10-12 field goal attempts. Let's add a 4/7 night on the free throw line as well.

Jehyve has been doing a lot better job in the last four games keeping himself in the game, by picking up just two fouls in each - previous six games he fouled out three times and was saddled with four in each of the other three. Continues to grow and mature - time for mates and staff to climb on and let him carry us.

rgs, not a big deal but Petrie has started every PL game with Jaworski coming of the bench (for much of the ooc, it was indeed the opposite). Fully expect Petrie to start tmro as he has been their 3 pt threat.

Also the 45th anniversary of our not-so-fantastic 9-17 team! 1953 is the fourth team Togo, Markey, Perry 3 of our longest supporters finished #13, 20-6 lost to LSU in Elite 8 after 2 NCAA wins When I saw that HC lost in the Elite 8 and that it was their third game, I was surprised that there would have been a 32 team field that long ago. I looked at Wikipedia and found that there were actually 22 teams with some first round byes. There were four regions, two in the East and two in the West. We beat Navy at the Palestra and Wake in Raleigh before losing to LSU (which had a bye.) Lebanon Valley (!!!!!!) and Fordham were the others in our sub region. Buster Sheary was not the only Buster who coached in the tournament. In addition, Phogg Allen, Ray Meyer and Henry Iba coached as well. What did we do before the Interweb and the Google machine? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_NCAA_Basketball_Tournament

That was actually the first year the tournament was expanded beyond 16 teams. Lebanon Valley that year went 19-1 in the regular season, but played only their traditional type of opponents (F&M, Dickinson, Scranton, etc). They were originally told they would have to play Temple to earn a bid into the field but Temple refused. LV did go on to beat Fordham in the first round, however. Two bits of trivia about that Lebanon Valley team: (1) With a student body of 425 (including females), they are the smallest school to reach the round of 16; and (2) In their win over Fordham, the TALLEST player they used was 6-1. That likely is a record for an NCAA tournament game. That was one of the two best season in LVC history, the other being 1994 when Pat Flannery coached them to 28 wins and the D3 national championship. His star player that year was Mike Rhoades, now the VCU coach, who preceded Nathan Davis as the head coach at Randolph-Macon.

Fully expect Petrie to start tmro as he has been their 3 pt threat. As you say he has started every PL game. And starting with their game with Bucknell, he has averaged about 30 mpg over those last six games. That is the most minutes for any LC player, including Klinewski, over that span.
