I think the problem is when you are middling good. By that I mean, you are not highly ranked but still are dangerous enough to knock off a higher ranked team or at least scare the bejesus out of them. That's where Ralph's teams were - along with his perplexing defense - ask Kansas, Kentucky, Marquette. But we never got over that hump. You could say that Bucknell/Lehigh have but not consistently like . . . .
Gonzaga. They have long ago gotten past middling good to extremely good and well ranked so a win over them is a feather in an opponent's cap and a loss is not something the coach would need to take out a sharp instrument on himself.

I would love to see us get involved with some of the "high mid majors".. Like Gonzaga, Butler and others of that distinction...IF we could schedule a few of those types each season I think it would be of great benefit..It would be good if we could partner with another school in the New England region to bring one of the schools to our region for a 2 game set..a Friday-Sunday set up perhaps...

Does anybody know when we can expect the PL schedule to come out?? the Women's league schedule is posted on the PL site, but not the Men's... The men's schedule for 2018-19 was available on the site for about 18 months. But a few months ago it vanished, and it is apparent they have made a number of changes to each team's schedule. Waiting to see how many.

Might be off the thread too, but Blake Verbeek (freshman) at 6'10" and just 190 pounds has to be one of our skinniest b-ball players ever. I believe I read somewhere that Verbeek is actually 163 lbs. I knew someone who could compete with him for the skinniest player ever; Dave Bradley of Worcester. Dave was 6’9” and 160 lbs in hs and went on to have a decent career at Fairfield. Here’s hoping Mr. Verbeek can do the same or better. As an aside, Dave is the father of Mike Bradley who I believe played for Kentucky.

Dave is a Worcester guy, he went to South HS, class of '70...He went to the same Jr. high I went to, but alas, he didn't make the basketball team...Last time I saw him, (at HC for a conference, he was working as a college admissions guy) he still was very thin....

In perspective, that would mean Caleb Green outweighs him. To have a roster add an inch or so and 10-15 lbs.is kind of understandable. 37 lbs (1/5 of rumored body weight) is quite an embellishment. If the skinniest ever discussion is no longer limited to HC and including CT schools, I saw a young Manute Bol for the University of Bridgeport. That was before he bulked up for the pro's. 7'6 170 lbs

For those planning on attending the HC at Michigan game on Saturday, November 10th, tip off is at 7:30 pm ET and will be telecast on the Big Ten Network Plus. Also, Michigan's football team plays at Rutgers that day with the kickoff time TBD. If its a night game there could be some tickets for the HC game available. mgoblue.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=1502

Regardless of his exact weight, hopefully he will benefit from some extra helpings at Ma Kimball and some work with Jeff Oliver in the weight room.

Our schedule still shows time 'tba' for the game at Iona on Dec 30th - the Gaels site shows 1pm start and the game will be covered by espn+ or espn3.

I think Verbeek is very intriguing as a recruit. Based on news articles he was 170 lbs as a sophomore in high school, so I think 190 on his verbal commits page is legit. Also, he had visits (guessing unofficial) at Davidson, Georgetown (in March 2018), Central Michigan, and Oakland. Also received interest from Stanford, guessing Georgetown and Stanford were recruited walk-on positions. It sounds like he has a skill set that could thrive at HC.

I certainly hope you’re right about Verbeek and agree he’s an intriguing prospect. However, I don’t recall reading anywhere that he had an opportunity to play at Stanford and/or Georgetown, whether as a preferred walk-on or otherwise. If there is something out there, I’d appreciate seeing it.

Just watched Blake's videos and the first thing that came to mind was he reminds me of Ed Siudut! Though he does not pull the ball back near his ear and shoot it from there like Ed, he does have similar shooting form! !

Who know if Georgetown had any real interest in him - it's just very amusing to me to read posts from Hoya fans lamenting losing a kid to Holy Cross!
