Austin Butler really needs to begin playing better.
I was just looking at HC's Pomeroy page, and he is the only player receiving regular minutes who has an offensive rating lower than 100 (87.1).
The last time he garnered a rating of greater than 100 in a game was against Siena.
Given that he receives somewhere anywhere from 30-35 minutes a game, we need him to begin making better decisions with the ball. 2-9 FG today with four rebounds, zero assists, and two turnovers in 37 minutes isn't going to cut it.
If Carmody is able to get Butler going, I'll feel better about things moving into PL play.

When will the video of the game be available on the PL Network? My video stream kept freezing again and again in the last three minutes.

The man of the game was clearly JF...but don't lose sight of the other players who scored 50 of the team's 65 points, had 23 of the team's 30 rebounds and tightened up the team defense to shut off Canisius down the stretch. Why some keep pointing out that JF will not be here next year, I don't understand. Almost all of those other players will be back. Do we always need to see the glass as "half empty?" I think some folks see the glass this year as "half full" given our inside, outside, and defensive strengths.

Bucknell lost to Canisius by nine in November though one can’t read too much into that since Sestina could not play in that one.

Butler certainly is neither shooting nor handling well, but he does provide the ability to play the 3 and even today the 4. also he still makes some smart defensive plays, such as their next to last possession when he rotated to deflect the ball off a canisius player underneath out of bounds to give us possession with 9+ seconds left.

GRITTY WIN!!! love the toughness of this team. down 10 in the second half, ice cold from the field, multiple players in foul trouble, some calls that could have gone either way going against us, and we rally for the win. this is a character building win against a team that is not nearly as bad as the permabear sky is always falling types (yawn) made out. i don't think we win this game last year, and almost certainly not two years ago. we've certainly got a mentally tough team. as predicted, after generally struggling against the power teams on the schedule, floyd was able to reassert his defensive and offensive dominance against teams at our level. absolutely awesome block to end out the game! i expect this to continue into pl play. also great to see grandison not only healthy, but providing his steady offensive production and a couple of key defensive plays today. such a versatile player and a true go to guy offensively. as for the free throws that could have built a bigger lead, if benzan cannot improve all of his misses at critical points in the game, he needs to sit. we have some other lineup options (when niego is healthy), but i am hopeful he gets it back together as he brings a lot of other positives to the floor. nice to pull off this win today after a sloppy start to the second half. i think we will knock off siena on saturday, building up a nice head of steam going into pl play. I have to agree...if you are pulling Floyd for Benzan because of foul shooting that's going to kill the team in some game or two. Today Benzan was already in there and he put in Ziggy for one trip down the court, HC up 1.

Do not know if this has been posted, but in my over 60 years of watching , I can never recall a game when we won with a block shot at the buzzer. And though it clinched the win, imo it was only JF’s second best block of the game-the 2 hand pin on the glass was terrific—impossible to have a foul called when both arms are vertical

Not sure if two of those will make Sports Center but three definitely would have! The first one was spectacular.

Again have not read the whole thread, but going to the 1-3-1 after they shredded the match up with both quick drives and 3s (4-8 in 1st half) was a smart move. They did get same offensive rebound dunks, but overall, the 3s were more contested (3-15 in 2nd half) and they did not get the straight line drives to the hoop other factors—they only attempted 2 FT in the second half(2-2) we shot 22-37 on 2 point attempts—59% we had 9 offensive rebounds, outscoring them 13-12 on second chance points —season highs ? Also despite our 9 first half turnovers and 13 for the game, we outscored them on points off turnovers, 16-9. Grandy, despite being 1-8 on threes, was 6-7 on twos. Matt’s first half could have bee his career best—led us in minutes, rebounds,7, and points, 11.

I don't want to diminish the gritty comeback (which I agree is a sign of a good team), but, boy, Canisius did themselves no favors when they decided to start playing Sportscenter Ball in the latter part of the second half. Sure, they had a couple of impressive plays, but lets be honest - if they played with some discipline going down the stretch, they may have won by double figures. Still, our guys took advantage, that's for sure. JF's last block sounded like an explosion. As CHC8485 said to me after the game, "that ball's a practice ball now!" Grandi seemed to move around fine. Hargis got a little burn there in the second half...would like to see him get more. Let's take care of business on Saturday!

we had 9 offensive rebounds, outscoring them 13-12 on second chance points —season highs ? Holy Cross had 10 OR vs. PC, 9 vs. FDU. Outscored SHU on second chance points, 13-5.
Canisius had 11 offensive rebounds, the seventh time this year opponents have boarded in double figures at that end. HC's DR% continues to be poor, today about 68%. Don't see many winning records among fellow teams in the bottom 10% of this category, in any season. Maybe it just doesn't matter whether we rebound well, or maybe it's a yellow light that continues to flash.

If you had the phrase "stupid foul" in the dictionary, you'd have Faw's picture next to it. At least hack someone underneath son, sick of the dumb reaches. I think we all know he doesn't want to foul, but I think we need to remember he is learning and we need to be patient-- he is significantly better defensively and as a rebounder than he was last year. Yes he made some mistakes again today, and will make some "stupid fouls" against quicker and more athletic opponents. Not having Niego up front in the rotation puts enormous pressure on Faw and even Floyd.so it will be a critical time in his development as a player--I thought Floyd was terrific today BUT he probably benefitted from a couple of NO CALLS that might have gone against him in the past.- Faw will not be the shot blocker or internal presence we have in Floyd but if he continues to improve this year and next I think he will have a wonderful senior year. Great things ahead and the new recruits will be a great addition--

Great win to comeback. Was worried we weren't going to pull it off. Especially 4 missed late free throws Shocked the Golden Griffins did not fire a three for the win. Happy they didn't. We were wondering why Floyd was in at the end, but what an effort to chase down the guy and send his shot falling to the ground. The road team did a lot of jumping and celebrating when they got their few dunks. But I didn't see any celebrating when the clock hit zero.
Other things, how many threes went in and out. They could have easily fallen. Also, refs were average at best.
Great game to go to, happy I decided to go.
