Great win to comeback. Was worried we weren't going to pull it off. Especially 4 missed late free throws Shocked the Golden Griffins did not fire a three for the win. Happy they didn't. We were wondering why Floyd was in at the end, Why would Floyd not be in the game with 10 seconds left with us on defense with a 2 point lead when he already had 4 blocks —even though he had 4 fouls ? He had played with four for about the last 9 minutes.

I was just thinking that the Griffins would shoot a three or jump shot and Floyd would not be the best person to defend that.
But I was dead wrong on both the three and the drive the basket.

Today's win was a chareter building win,,HC did not play a great game, but had enough inside their chests to get the win..Nobody folded when they went down 10, they just worked harder..It was really good to see Floyd take over the game, that is a positive for this team, he needed that confidence boost heading toward the PL season..I think in games when HC doesn't shoot it well, Green and Floyd have to take over...and Grandi has to move to the mid range game.. HC really missed CN, he was the guy who could hit the jumper from the FT line and step out to hit the 3...a change up from Floyd in the middle.. No Copeland today, in civies, any word on his status? HC got plenty of good shots today, just didn't make a good number of them...Faw was flying around the court today, he looks so much more confident in his game..Ziggy got some time today, good for him...Hargus got his feet wet, hit his first shot , missed his second, he looks confident in his game out there!

Was at game and as others have said due to the unconventional start time there were few fans and little energy in the building. Maybe we'll get an explanation for the scheduling at the same time the results of the NCAA investigation is released. Agree with NAD that Canisius had as much to do with losing the game as we had with winning it, and with Carmody who said in post game interview that we didn't play well and were fortunate to pull it out. That being said a win is a win and its on to Siena. A few thoughts, why did Green not shoot the T's as he has only missed one free throw this season, Floyd really bailed out Benzan at the end as he held the ball and waited to be fouled rather than continuing to move the ball and keep the clock running, after a really nice game against RI CLS only got a couple of short cameos and it seems that Carmody only gives him an extended opportunity in desperation situations such as against Army and Rhody.

Well, pre-game, NAD and I discussed how Canisius was probably much better than their record would have indicated. They did play well but the "almost loss" was still more on the Crusaders. At halftime, spoke with a number of posters and think we pretty much agreed that after the 12 day layoff, we looked "rested but rusty." Canisius was making their open looks, us - not so much. Our passing was no where near as sharp as we've seen in the past. I think we missed Connor and hope he returns sooner than later. Good to see Grandy's minutes return. Not Caleb's best game with 3 assists but 3 turnovers.
Very similar #s for JF and Grandy:
Points: JF 15 Grandy 15 Rebounds: JF 7 Grandy 7 Minutes: JF 31 Grandy 37 (Yay!) Assists: JF 3 Grandy 6 Blocks: JF 5 Grandy 1 Steals: JF 2 Grandy 0
I expect against Siena that we will hit much better than 19.0% of our 3s and much better than 56.3% of our FTs. "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice!" No classes, no exams. Get to it, guys!

Do not know if this has been posted, but in my over 60 years of watching , I can never recall a game when we won with a block shot at the buzzer. And though it clinched the win, imo it was only JF’s second best block of the game-the 2 hand pin on the glass was terrific—impossible to have a foul called when both arms are vertical I came up with one- Leo Kane blocking Ernie Cobb's jumper as time ran out in 78-79 in a one or two point win vs BC....different as it wasn't a drive to the basket. newspapers.bc.edu/?a=d&d=bcheights19790212.2.62

Our group at the game thought Canisius played pretty tough D, so let's give them a little credit for our sloppiness Canisius's players, to this inexpert eye, seemed pretty quick. They are #53 in the country in steal percentage and that contributes to being #29 in forcing turnovers. It seems to me that early on we were making low-velocity passes and it drove me crazy--one could see the Griffins lurking and then stepping into the passing lanes as one of our guys threw a soft one. Several of the steals were absolutely avoidable in my opinion.

My thumbs up was agreement, not "like," KY. While I am not saying that this was not at least partially due to the way Canisius played, let me take you back to earlier in the year when we were lofting soft, high arc, telegraphed passes that were picked off (easily) by opponents. Thought we successfully got over that but reverted to form again yesterday afternoon. But Canisius is a talented team and definitely better than their record reflects.
In a slight tangent, watching Carmody throughout every game, his body language is almost always one of exasperation (disgust even?) and talking to his assistants apparently about how some play or another was not executed well. Hopefully that drives our players to want to get at least a neutral look from their coach. I may regret posting this but could any coach be more different than cheerleader Milan?

Mobster Henry Hill (played by Ray Liotta in Goodfellas) recruited Rich Kuhn and two other BC players to shave points for this game (HC was favored to win by more than two). The bettors lost money on this game as Cobb scored a few points late to narrow the margin.

Nice find Tim. In case any younger posters took the many references to the time Mike Vicens came out of the stands and joined a fight as historical exaggeration, here is a primary source corroborating our memories. Hard to imagine anyone today trying that and not getting arrested. Very interesting the article only casually mentions the Sweeney ejection

In agreement with a couple posts above:
I was there and was wondering why CG wasn't shooting the techs. I'll also credit the Griffs for some extended periods of pretty sticky D. Bring on the Saints!
