Oh, and with Loyola beating American tonight, we are currently tied for last place with BU at 4-9.
There's a chance we will be going on the road for the PIG.
Year four.

This is not a good team. They are who they are. Red Auerbach wouldn't get much more out of them.

Not for nothing but Colgate knows you need a 3 at the end so why have one of your better 3 point shooters in bounding the ball to the corner where you have limited room to work with.

Through 67 PL regular season games, Carmody is 26-41.
In Milan Brown's first 67, he was 34-33.

To state the obvious, this was a terrible and very much avoidable loss. It bothers me that this game tread is rather short, perhaps indicating folks losing interest in the season, if not the program.
In the last 12 minutes of the game I did not see one successful back door cut and yet we continued to run or pseudo Princeton offense which produced ar least 5 shot clock induced heaves. I don’t understand why there was no adjustment to our offensive sets. There was simply too much unproductive outside ball movement and dribbling.
The last out of bounds play was indicative of what is wrong. There was no setplay to provide a makeable 3 point shot. Watching on PL video I noticed there was no away from the ball double or even single screen to free anyone for that shot.
I simply don’t like our chances in games that come down to the last 2 minutes. That really says all that needs to be said.

Observations: - Seldom do you see a backdoor basket anymore - can Floyd dunk from a standing position under the basket? - both teams shot well over 50 pct from the field. Figures ‘gate would have that kind of a night against us - announcers were clueless talking about ‘Will Colgate foul us’ when we inbounded with 37 seconds left. They don’t understand that’s for the last 10 seconds of a game. - we have two skilled guards coming in next year who will get significant minutes - Faw and Niego development will be critical

You can put Zion W, Kevin Durant, Harden, The Brow and Kyrie with this style of basketball and they would still only play .500 ball. Not new players, this team can compete, need new leadership. For the life of me, can not understand why we dont feed JF the ball on the post. Patriot League bug men can not handle him. Best defense on him is this offense.

- we have two skilled guards coming in next year who will get significant minutes - Faw and Niego development will be critical Meaning "pass-dribble-shoot." Can they defend? Can they rebound? Can they get to the line? Pridgen is the incoming "big" - at 6-5.
We already have a good pass-dribble-shoot team - just not much of anything else.

I don’t understand why there was no adjustment to our offensive sets. There was simply too much unproductive outside ball movement and dribbling. And to make matters worse, Colgate was playing man-to-man defense — the defense that the PO was designed to go against. We are rolling the same stubborn and tired “gameplan” out game after game, season after season. When you play against the same coaches 2-3 times every year, they are going to figure it out. It’s not just a coincidence that this is Carmody’s 17th consecutive season with a conference record under .500.

One sentence describes the loss. HC lost by four and Colgate was gift wrapped four free throws.

Was at the game and first off the foul on Floyd was a terrible call, Ferguson lost his balance and basically fell into Floyd. That being said our end of game execution was dreadful as it has been most of the year. Each possession is the same pass around the perimeter and end up taking a 3 point heave as the shot clock expires. At the other end Colgate was getting either a layup or an open three. Don't see how Carmody can be brought back. Hopefully he will retire but if not he must be fired. This was the year we were to turn it around and unfortunately the team has regressed as the season has gone forward and it's now almost certain we will have another losing record. Based on his track record we cannot entrust him with the 8 scholarships that will be available over the next two years.

Can't say I was disappointed as the result was as I expected. Our guys continue to show no quit and I admire their effort. We are .500 now and can still pull out a winning season. Go Cross!
I expect Carmody will be back next year as the college will choose not to pay for 2 coaches next year. What will bring me back next year is the hope that (a further developed sophomore class+healthy Neigo+Wade+Lowder)>(Floyd+Benzen)

Just checked the box score. The last Cross field goal came with 3:18 left to play.

Fire Borroughs, hire a real AD, fire/retire carmody, hire a real basketball coach that has energy to teach/recruit/encourage rebounding, extend chesney to a 10 year non-compete deal. BOT - Hire a new president.

I haven't read any of the thread so this may be redundant,
I don't think I'm one to always call out the refs, or at least I recognize that HC also gets the benefit of bad calls. I'll be the first to admit that the refs weren't way too slow on rotations leaving guys wide open for 3's and that the refs weren't dribbling around without purpose with 5 seconds on the shot clock. But in a reasonably evenly officiated game, HC overcomes these lapses and wins
This felt like a statement and that statement was you can't taunt us with "I am blind and I am deaf. I want to be a ref" and win the game. The refs had rabbit ears and the raucous football team got to them. One fan actually got tossed. Maybe he crossed the line, but it's rare refs are that thin skinned. It might be a coincidence that the officiating appeared one sided on a night the fans were on their case, but it just made things seem worse

912 in attendance tonight.
What's even sadder is that this game outdrew all three other Patriot League contests this evening.

Saturday we play Bucknell, not BU who is our Turnpike Trophy competitor. So Saturday is not a TT game. We do play BU on Monday then 18th.
FWIW, the football team did create buzz in the Hart Center. No, not like playing Bucknell in the PL tournament during RW days but perhaps the best this season.

13-13 with 5 regular season games to go. Finishing this season over .500 will be a challenge...and will make it (relatively) interesting.

This gives me more time to get ready for the big game. Kudos to the gridders for doing their best to provide a measure of a home court advantage.

The season is over, there is no reason to keep the coach except money. HC has more talent than most PL schools. It doesn’t show in the box score. I honestly believe that. Very disappointing. Time to turn the page.
