Maybe the play that epitomizes the insanity of this defense occurred with about 14:52 left left, when Green went flying out to close at the arc on a BU player who didn't have the ball and fouled him - as the player who actually had the ball, in the corner, calmly drained a three, while Floyd went flying past him out of bounds. Astonishing.

I'll agree on the recruiting. At some point though the players need to shoulder the blame. I admittedly haven't seen that much of this year's team, but what I have seen persuades me that we just don't have a sufficient number of quality athletes who can be impact players...especially come crunch time. Again, I'm not "dissing" this team. I accept that they're all doing their damnedest. The problem is that, for the most part, our squad simply doesn't have the talent required to be successful on a consistent basis...even in the PL. Are the coaches part of the problem? No doubt about it. But, at the end of day, you need gamers on the court and we have far too few of them. It's a mess. We should be able to do much better. Our next coach needs to be a Chesney kind of guy who can energize the program and start recruiting the kinds of players we need if we're going to win on a consistent basis. I don't care how good a basketball "mind" someone may have. If you don't have the tools on the court, you won't be successful. It's as simple as that at the end of day.

Men's basketball is in last place.
Men's ice hockey is in ninth place.
FADNP really left our winter sports in good shape!

Must be fun for opposing 3 point shooters to play HC. What is our opponents shooting percentage on threes from the corners? How long until this coaching staff realizes that the 1-3-1 isn't a magical video game cheat code?

For the forseeable future, it's all about the women. Their 1-24-1 record in Hockey East thus far the most impressive season by a HC winter sports team. Thank you Nathan PINE. Now try to say national consciousness three times fast.

Tonight we had a game where Floyd was absolutely dominant against a very good opposing center, shot a solid 44% in the first half as a team and still found a way to dig a 20 point hole.
Outcoached again, plain and simple.

There was one or two plays in the the second half where HC flat out gave up, a layup was conceded; and Floyd came out of nowhere and blocked the shot. The other HC guys under the basket should have been embarrassed.

Holy Cross is now 5-10 in conference, and plays its last three games against teams that are a combined 26-16, and 3-0 vs. HC.
A last place finish, one-and-done in the tournament, and a final mark of 14-18 are real possibilities.

It would not surprise me if the Bucknell win turns out to be our last win of the year.
The sign of a good coach is a team that gets much better as the season goes on. Unfortunately the opposite seems to be true here.
The future does not look bright for HC basketball unless some fairly significant changes are made.
So disappointing. In late December I really thought we had turned the corner and good things were ahead for this program.
It’s very clear to me now I was absolutely mistaken.

Poorly put together team, poorly coached team, awful loss at home to a team that was in last place in the pL.
This is at least the third time in PL play when an opposing freshman has scored more in a single game against HC than the HC frosh have scored for the entire year.
This program will not truly get better until there is a new coaching staff that can come in and blow up this finesse, passive style of play and start recruiting players to a style that can dictate the game to opponents.
The future is anything but bright right now.

The coaches will crack down on three point defense after this game. All players will study film of the "Flying Wallendas" circus act to improve their technique.

Through 69 PL regular season games, Carmody is 27-42.
In Milan Brown’s first 69 games, he was 35-34.
Our average Pomeroy rank through Milan’s first four seasons was 211.5.
For Carmody to date, it’s 256.25.
Milan Brown was definitely a better coach at HC.

OK, many are going to jump on BBC as he makes a quick board appearance whenever we lose.
That said, I am starting to agree more and more with him.

The last 48 hrs has gone from praise of this team and coach to an absolute beat down of them. I say that’s an overreaction on both counts. This team was never projected to compete for a title this season. As I have said we need better players and it is pretty clear that the 2 Michigan recruits are better than benzan/ziggy/le san right now (Pridgen is not at the same level from what I understand). I say support the team the rest of the way

This is at least the third time in PL play when an opposing freshman has scored more in a single game against HC than the HC frosh have scored for the entire year. The Holy Cross freshmen have scored a total of 12 points. The following PL freshmen have scored more than that in a single game vs. HC - Boonyasith, AU (17), Richardson, COL (20), Harper, BU (22)

Combining BU’s shooting performance with their offensive rebounding, they either made or rebounded 40 of their 55 FG attempts — 73%.
So when BU attempted a field goal, there was only a 27% chance that they would miss and HC would rebound the ball.
I’m not sure if this stat is tracked, but I’d imagine a 27% “recovery” rate would be about as low as could be.
