Figured we’d need a thread eventually. I am looking forward to attending some of the games in person in sunny Hartford. I like the draw in Hartford a lot. Should be some very competitive games with all 8 teams having at least a semi-legit chance to win two games. Here’s the Thursday schedule:
2:00 13 UVM vs 4 FSU 4:30 12 Murray State vs 5 Marquette 7:20 11 St. Mary’s vs 6 Villanova 9:50 14 ODU vs 3 Purdue

I'll be there all day Thurs as well 92. Nice. I’ll likely have the boys in tow in the afternoon. Give a shout if you see us. At least some of them will likely wear HC gear. Might switch to an adult crew for the evening session but the quick turnaround is going to be tough. Not sure how they plan to have separate admission games that start at 4:30 and 7:20. You know one of the first two games will go to triple OT.

One of the best slates of teams ever for one site in the NCAA had to be when Worcester last hosted the tournament in 2005. Four teams that had won past national championships made up half the group - Syracuse, NC State, Michigan State, and UConn. The other teams were Vermont, UCF, Old Dominion, and UNC-Charlotte. Most games were close with no margin more than 11 points. Highlight of the weekend was the Vermont OT win over Syracuse. I really enjoyed seeing those six games in person. While the DCU Center and city had issues hosting the event, the games themselves were great.

Three sets of squats for all NCAA 1st rds. First two games on one ticket, second set of games on another, then one ticket for the two second rd games.

Vermont's been pretty lucky in terms of having NCAA games a reasonable drive from campus. They and Villanova will have decent fan bases there.

If Vermont wins, you know FSU will cry bloody murder for getting a "road game" as a 4 against a 13. I remember Georgetown fans were livid about having to play 10 seed Davidson in their home state when Hoyas were a 2 seed in Round of 32.

Will be a very pro-UVM crowd in Hartford.

A real curiosity of this yr is that two # 1's: Duke and UVA are both playing at the same first rd site: Columbia, SC. I don't ever recall this happening before. Likely this was due to 3 #1's from the ACC, but either UVA or UNC could have, and should have been moved to Jax.

Michigan State should have been put in the West as the 2 seed with Gonzaga. They did not deserve to be placed with the overall #1 Duke.

Those who go please report on the condition of the facility. The place doesn't have the cache it once had when it had several Celtics games there every season plus The Whale.

The joint is still guaranteed to give vertigo to anyone hiking down the stairs from the cheap seats. This condition of the place hasn't changed.

I recall whomever was hosting the selection show saying something like team x is in the East Regional and they are playing their first round game in anywhere CA. It sounded like where they play their opening round game(s) didn't match their geographical seeds. I don't believe two number 1s can meet until the Final Four.

Realize this, just very odd, as I'm near certain this is first time this has happened. Certainly a boon for the fans in Coumbia.

I think the Hartford matchups are much more compelling than watching a 1 crush a 16. I guess having Duke and Zion would be fun but that’s the only 1 seed this year that I’d really care about.
