Season starts now. I think everyone thought 1-3 start
D legit. O needs work.
One game at a time. Starts at Bucknell.
Tough schedule. 5 of first 6 on road.
QB without experience
It all starts now

I agree with this assessment...not more than a handful of our teams since 1981 would be better than 1-3 at this point.
Offense is an issue, but let's see how they look the next couple of weeks.

Such a loser’s mentality to say the “season starts now.”
It started on August 31.

There are a lot of past teams with this schedule that would have scored more than 14 offensive touchdown points over 16 quarters of play..

Perhaps but not much more imo....the first 4 teams all had pretty solid defenses. Duquesne only had a 6 in a loss to UNH today. Yale has a lot of solid people on D. FBS East Carolina only scored 10 vs Navy. Syracuse has ACC talent.
Not to be too pollyannish, but most HC squads, particularly from PL-era on, would have had trouble scoring much more than we have to date.
Not saying it's not an issue, but how much of one will be determined when we face the Bucknells and Browns of the world is my point.

Many Duff teams would have scored much more and beaten Yale and UNH, maybe only a bit more in losses vs Navy and Cuse

Syracuse today, was the most talented non-BC opponent we have faced since we became 1-AA/FCS.

Perhaps not a win but close results

The best Duff teams (86 and 87) might have beaten Navy....they would have lost in a 31-17ish game at the Carrier Dome imo.
I don't think even the best Randolph/Pujals teams would have scored more than 17 or so versus Cuse today. Speed/size on their defense is too much for PL teams to be relatively effective.
Total speculation of course....

We’re an offensive away boys. An offense away. How’s the Brown QB doing? We’ll get there.

I can predict our first down play next week. Shotgun formation, trips to one side, single set back, RPO delay dive on the weak side, loss of 2 - second and 12. Now, since the defense shows pressure, we will run another delayed dive to middle. Now on 3rd and 10, we rush a pass on the slant and miss the receiver. Then punt. How Chesney allows this OC to collect a paycheck is beyond me. One of my colleagues used to say, everyone should have a job - just maybe not the one they have. Enough of this crap!! Chesney - you want to be successful? Time To step up and solve this problem.

JMO - Only the Carter/Duffner teams. I'm thinking that superior (and non-PL) Carter '83 team would have had a few outstanding starters who were better than their opposites (Muldoon, Finnerty, McGovern, Kozerski, Raquet, Flaherty...) and would have scored a few more points (and perhaps beaten Navy and flattened Yale/UNH). For the youngsters, three of those guys were drafted and a fourth payed a couple of games with the Dallas Cowboys.

Just playing Devil's advocate, but the later Duff teams were starting to get beat by Army fairly easily : '88 3-23 '89 9-45 '90 7-24 No game in '91

The service academies today are a lot better then they were 30 yrs ago. Basically my point....we have played one of, if not the toughest 1st 4 games at our level...hard to jump on the offense that much given who we have played so far.
