What was the average attendance this season? If we start winning and win big, HC can easily draw in another 2k Worcester folks and another 2k suburban folks with an additional 2k b/w students alumni. Add on a few hundred more away team fans to see the HC product. That's an additional 6-7k per game with what we're already drawing. We should aspire to be the premier New England college program among the 6 states plus tri-state area! We could easily pack 15k into rival games like Harvard, Umass, Uconn, NH . . . If HC could average 9-10,000 this day in age, that would be a huge success heading into the "Roaring Twenties". The quality and accessibility of live streaming continues to get better (not necessarily a negative) while the average age of our fan base continues to get older. I'm personally guilty of now not having made a game at Fitton for two straight seasons. Only made it to the BC game in 2018 and got to 3 games this year (Navy, Lehigh & Fordham) but all on the road. Definitely looking forward to bringing my girlfriend (hopefuly fiancee by next season) and daughter to a home game next year and in the near future. The Holy Cross bib was worn today by her during the Georgetown game. Your newborn daughter is the HC FB good luck charm.

What a game made going to 11 of the 12 worth it. Dominating performance by the defense. Best thing was when two security guards came to the end zone with one minute left . They were like nobody is getting on this field. One kid jumps over and the guard grabs him. Everyone likes oh. Then another kid went over and everybody went. It was great to celebrate with the players and coaches on the field. Back in the stands a girl said to her mom, grandpa is on the field. What a win CHAMPS!!!!!!!! 7 times Punching tickets to the FCS Playoffs Not done yet Go Cross Go And we have a puncher's chance against anybody we draw in the first round.

It's a different world....today's crowd would have been considered horrendous in the 70s and 80s. ..it's not just HC though, Harvard-Yale was sparsely attended today compared to days gone by... Do yourself (and us) a solid and stop living 24-7 in your 40 years ago time machine.

It is fine to remember the past, even when the version changes over time, it keeps us young! And for a few of us that is a nice feeling and by most studies it is healthy . However, it is also important to live in and enjoy the realities of today and the hope and promise for a brighter future.
So enjoy the weeks ahead and on Thanksgiving say a special prayer of thanks for the recent directional changes made in the athletic program
Remember man plans and God decides
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Go HC

Congrats to everyone involved in the football program on our first league title in a decade and second since 1991. Very impressive turnaround in a short amount of time. Looking forward to next weekend.

Two unusual events yesterday, we win the championship and students show up and stay till the end of the game. But only in the Patriot League can the refs penalize the winning team for high 5-ing players and classmates in the stands after a score late in the game...too funny

Special thanks to the Weather Man/Gal. Fitton would be a rice paddy if the game was played today instead of yesterday. The new grass hasn't faced any significant adversity yet and looks great.

If this season were year 4 or 5 of the Chesney era, our record would be 10-2 right now. I believe our defense will be one of the best in FCS for some time and the offense will continue to improve by whatever means Chesney feels are necessary.
By the way, our quarterback has been a real Steady Eddie this year. Another game with no INTs yesterday. I do not believe he gets nearly enough credit on this board. Seems like a good kid too, and always nice for the program to have a local guy make good.
In other news, BC drops a nail biter to ND 40-7. Unlike last year we’ll be heading back to Chestnut Hill with an experienced QB and coach and as a team on the rise. For now, it’s all gravy. Nothing to lose. Why not grab a quick national championship? If Colgate was able to make a run, so can we.

Another great moment yesterday: As the clock was winding down to our victory, Chesney, Sr. tore off his pullover to reveal a beautiful, purple shirt emblazoned with “The Cross is Back”- he turned to the crowd behind him and the crowd went wild- fun stuff!

(Just keeping it real as the kids say.) CD has been very steady this year. While I've hinted I would like to see a bit of foot speed now and again (many of the better FCS teams like Colgate last year seem to have arm/footspeed QBs - -and we'll see that if we face Nova opening round) there is a lot to be said for a kid that never panics and never flings it wildly downfield when under pressure. As far as next year's BC game goes, Coach Chesney has shown that he knows how to manage expectations and the clock in games like that and I believe he turns what could be morale-busters into morale-boosters. (He also resists the temptation to bark at a kid who drops a pass or misses a kick...he knows the kids don't do that sort of thing on purpose and I believe that is why our receivers turned it around at Fordham)

If he needs to move to a higher level, how about we let the HC football program move up with him?

The debate should end. The jury can come in now and announce the verdict: Bob Chesney is an outstanding head football coach, one of the best in the country. Those of us who believed in him from Day One can put on a satisfied smile. Those who opposed his selection should just admit they were totally wrong and celebrate the championship cannot "thumbs up" this one. those who were "wrong" know it. (as do the rest of us) this is a matter for the penitent and confessor. (10 our fathers and 10 hail marys should take care of it.) time to celebrate! WAY TO GO 'SADERS!!!

Dominic's big day pushed him ahead of Fordham's Zach Davis as the PL rushing champion (1050 yards and 1013 yards respectively) - two thousand yard rushers in the same league !

See! The rushing defenses stink in this lousy league! (Just thought I would beat the rush of naysayers) i will one up you on this. the defense against the rush (no such thing as "rushing defense") is so bad because they know that their defense against the passing game is even worst!!! p.s. don't even talk about special teams

Still recovering from the victory celebrations! Congrats to these guys and all the staff. Entrance with WFD was a class act! The students rushing the field was great and RSIG sent two people to try to stop them and failed. It was a glorious celebration!
Coach Chesney came by the HoJo after the game and let us all take pictures with the trophy and the team. Really was something special thank you for breaking the mold!!!!!
I think we have a chance against Monmouth. Take care of the football and you never know what can happen.

Endow a higher salary for Chesney. Will buy a few more years. I know that we like to go from one extreme to the other on this board but let's all just settle down, Chesney has done a great job but you need to show consistency in order to move up - We're good for 3 more years at the least I'd assume.

Is there such a thing as group manic-depression? If so, Crossports is afflicted by it. Irrational exuberance followed by feelings of severe despondency.

I do remember reading a similar discussion to this about FHCTG 10 years ago. It was said he would soon be hired away. Today it is a realistic concern, but not yet. I feel he still has too much too do (by his own standards). Two more recruiting classes, possibly two more PL titles, along with some NCAA wins, and we'll see what happens.

I want to thank the football folks at Georgetown for inviting a bunch of Massachusetts football alums to the game on Saturday including an old friend of my dad's who played on the Hoyas last team before dropping the program in the early 50s. He couldn't make it from the Cape, he's 90 or so, but his daughter was thrilled to represent him
