Because I’m bored, here are my minutes projections for the OOC games that may never happen. I assume the rotation will be tightened up for PL play. These are even more meaningless than usual given the number of newcomers but here it is based on very little: PG- Johnson 32, Reilly 6, Humphrey 2 SG- Wade 26, Humphrey 12, Montgomery 2 SF- Butler 28, Montgomery 8, Townsel 4 PF- Faw 26, Martindale 14 C- Coulibaly 26, Rabinovich 14 I thought HC92 would not mind if I brought back this topic he introduced in April. Let's revisit this in light of interim developments, e.g. coach comments, Coulibaly possibly confined to Canadam etc

Certainly impossible to do the bigs’ minutes when we did not know the status of Coulibaly. And that in turn impacts Martindale’s and perhaps Townsel’s minutes at the 3 and/or the 4. The hardest choices would seem to be at the crowded 2 and 3.

Perhaps I should now the answer to this but I'm wondering why Couilbaly can't get to the U.S. Has all travel between the U.S and Canada been stopped? If, theoretically, he drove to the Canadian-VT border with all the proper paperwork and a recent negative Covid test would they turn him back?

All non essential travel has been stopped between the U.S. and all sorts of countries including Canada. Negative COVID tests are great for getting you across state lines, not so much national borders. Back in August and the start of the school year, Boston TV had a lot of stories about foreign exchange students who couldn't get into the country
As posted on another thread, old friend Jehyve recently went to Israel for the next stop in his pro hoops career. Pro basketball must be essential. Hockey too for that matter because the NHL bubbles were in Canada

I'll be surprised and disappointed if Humphrey, Montgomery and Martindale get less than 15 minutes per game. Building for the future, I think Nelson will lean heavily on the freshmen particularly if as we have been led to believe these recruits are at a higher level than what we've been getting prior to Nelson's arrival.

The wise guy in me would say that everyone gets zero OOC minutes Unfortunately, I think that will apply to the conference as well. With the way the numbers are going and it's not even winter yet, I just don't see a season happening.

I don't know anything about his specific situation, but I do know that a number of Canadians have entered the U.S. and are currently practicing with their college teams. Judging from the articles, some (maybe most) entered the U.S. in late July and August.

Perhaps because he is a citizen of the Congo and does not have a Canadian passport. Just speculating. Edit: I see that his problem is that he has had problems getting his student visa. But Seton Hall's Tyrese Samuel, who is also Canadian, entered the U.S. on schedule and is practicing with the team.

As I posted in the "Louth Coulibaly Article" thread a couple months ago . . . "Any incoming student who received a Form I-20 to begin their studies this fall will be unable to legally enter the U.S. in F-1 status if course instruction is fully remote." From Harvard Magazine in July harvardmagazine.com/2020/07/first-year-international-students-wont-be-allowed-on-campus-this-fallBecause Coulibally was (1) a newly-enrolled international student, attending a college that was (2) offering remote-only classes, he couldn't enter the country for fall semester. For Ngandu, see 137's edited post above. Tyrese Samuel is a sophomore (not newly-enrolled), therefore not subject to the restriction.

And by the way, the two Canadian freshmen on the HC men's hockey team - Jack Ricketts and Lucas Thorne - are still in Canada. Same reason.

It is going to be interesting to see if Wade can hold off Nelson's recruits for playing time. I hope he can as he has been a good soldier, but conversely if the new recruits are better basketball players it will validate Blossom's hiring skill and Nelson's recruiting skill.

The 2020-2021 roster has been updated with the portrait pictures of the new players except for Louth Coulibaly.
Seems to confirm that he is not currently on campus.

Well now it looks like we'll have Gerrale Gates playing this season but Louth C's availability is TBD. So the lineup picture is still a bit cloudy

Well, Louth will be available after he returns from Canada in early January. Coach said a few weeks will be needed to get him into game readiness. My guess is that at the start of the season, Gerrale will get around 30 mpg. When Louth is available, the numbers game for the 4-5 spots will probably change with Matt and Mike dividing the minutes with Louth and Gerrale When Gerrale and Louth are on the court together, it could give us the best inside combo we have had in a long time-since Szatko and Whearty ?

Coach Nelson mentioned he will likely play 9 -10 players a game in a regular rotation....That tells me the minutes will be distributed over a number of players and minutes will go to the guy playing the best in each game...Lots of pressure is on the menu, so fouls can come into play.....Will Matt Faw be in trouble with fouls all season long?

It could but neither has set foot on the court in their careers yet and one hasn't even practiced yet. I would take a wait and see approach. I think anything we get from Louth this year, given his circumstances, will be a real bonus. Gates playing this year without using any eligibility, is a huge addition, imho.

I'm still unsure on when Louth will be able to play. Until he does, perhaps Matt Faw gets his minutes at center and Gerrale Gates gets Matt's minutes at OF??
So, editing HC92's foundation work
PG- Johnson 32, Reilly 6, Humphrey 2 SG- Wade 26, Humphrey 12, Montgomery 2 SF- Butler 28, Montgomery 8, Townsel 4 PF- ( delete Faw) Gates 26, Martindale 14, C- (delete Coulibaly) Faw 26, Rabinovich 14

My guess is that Gates is a center, 30+ minutes, Rabinovich- 10- Faw is a power forward, 25 mins, Rabinovich- 15 When Coulibaly plays, he gets 15, Faw- 20, Rabinovich-15 Gates stays at 30. Martindale will be with the crowd at the 3.
