We've had considerable debate on the national stage about when/whether our sports will be played again. MLB may be starting up in July and I don't think there's much doubt that we will see NFL games played this Fall. College football is another story that may play out differently in different conferences. What do you predict for HC football in what had been shaping up as a most promising season?

I am sad about my choice, but it seems to be the best of the available choices.

The last two choices probably belong together

I really, really do not want to be correct here but I predict our best case scenario will be a reduced schedule (PL games only?) with family members only present. Again, I hope I am wrong here as I desperately want to be tailgating at Fitton in the fall!

I voted with my heart and said reduced schedule and reduced fans as I think that’s the best-case scenario. My head is starting to tell me we won’t play at all in 2020.

Head and heart: reduced schedule / reduced or no fans

No college pigskin in 2020, at HC anyway, sadly. Has Dr Fauci voted here yet?

3,095 of the 5,141 total COVID-19 deaths in MA were nursing home residents. Thus, with MA having a population of approx. 6 million, your chance of losing your life from COVID-19 if you are not a nursing home resident is 0.034%. Utter madness.

A football team --18-22 year old kids who are in tip-top physical shape -- are at basically zero risk.
I suppose you can say the coaching staffs could be at risk but, again, if you look at the numbers of who this virus is putting into the hospital and killing, it is not your typical football coach.
To reiterate 2020, utter madness.

Holy Cross will not play football in 2020. Everything will remain terrible.

Holy Cross will not play football in 2020. Everything will remain terrible. I fear you are correct. I just saw on TV that Harvard Medical School will have online remote learning in the fall. I am certain that other Ivy schools will follow suit and once the Ivy League throws in the towel, the Patriot League will likely follow shortly thereafter (especially with a significant portion of our fall athletic teams having Ivy League games on their schedules).

No "live" classes, no football.
Which is kinda ironic given the weak support from the student body, but the right thing to do.

Fitton Field is an ideal venue for social distancing. So that's good.

We are in May and already considering opening the state to certain things. I would guess business as usual except no fans is most likely for all college football ,inclusive of HC. Why does distance learning equal no football? Is that a definite?

If the football team stays on campus but still take their classes online, each player can have a private room and their own table in Kimball.

If students can’t be on campus, then student-athletes shouldn’t be either. There is only one decision: Should students be on-campus?

You can bet the SEC and Big 10 will find a way to play--I suggested some time ago that those schools, if this is what is required, might bring players back and quarantine them and test them daily, whatever it takes to put a well-practiced football squad on the field for the TV cameras. Count on it. Go to the window and bet with both hands.
If they can do it HC can do it.
This country needs MLB and college football. The NFL is guaranteed-metaphysically certain.

The only question is does HC want to. Since we aren't in the "entertainment business", it would be real easy to cop out if others do...
