Per report on Felger & Mazz, Ivy League has cancelled all fall sports for this year. Cancel or moved to the spring? Big difference. I wouldn't mind the Patriot League emulating the latter, but would be pretty ticked off if they cancelled altogether.

Given the current environment/hysteria....I highly doubt we see any football at any level this Fall.
The NFL and P5 (major conferences) will/may try given the $$$ at stake but I doubt they get too far....there are just far too many variables, logistics, contingencies etc particularly to play a sport like football.

/\ I don't know, we may be in sort of a "woke bubble" here in the northeast and paying attention to a handful of very progressive - even by northeast standards - FCS schools.
I haven't heard anything from the CAA yet, for example.

Here is Bryant University athletic schedule for the fall which is still under review from the state Varsity Sports Team Season In order to follow social distancing guidelines as recommended by the RIDOH, NCAA Resocialization of Collegiate Sport, and Bryant University, protocols will be in place for team activities including for groups that fall within the range of 10, 25, 50, and 100+ participants. The goal is to follow the preseason schedule for all fall sports using the NCAA Resocialization model. Therefore the current preseason schedule and competition for fall sports includes: Women’s soccer (scheduled reporting date of Aug. 4) Football (Aug. 7) Women’s volleyball (Aug. 10) Men’s soccer (Aug. 12), Field hockey (Aug. 12) Men’s and women’s cross country (Aug. 20). Men’s golf and men’s and women’s tennis conduct their championship season in the spring, but schedule competitions in the fall and do not report to campus until the start of classes. Winter and spring sports teams will follow the NCAA Resocialization of Sport model. Delayed starts to winter and non-championship sports seasons may occur if deemed necessary. PLEASE NOTE: Athletic schedules are subject to change in accordance with changing government and public health guidance. You can find schedule updates at BryantBulldogs.com. covid.bryant.edu/athletics

On the other hand, Harvard is going 40% occupancy, Yale about 60% occupancy and Princeton about 50% occupancy for the year.

What shouldn’t be overlooked with Harvard is that, despite 40% of undergrads being on campus, all instruction will be online.
What a joke.

From Georgetown
Dear Georgetown Athletics Community,
I hope this email finds you safe and healthy. I am following up on President DeGioia’s announcement today regarding the reopening of the main campus for the fall semester. As was stated in his email, “A final decision on fall athletic competition has not yet been determined. We are in communication with the NCAA, BIG EAST Conference, and Patriot League as we develop frameworks for health and competition and will communicate a decision as soon as possible.”
Since the beginning of this pandemic, our doctors and medical professionals have partnered with University administration and staff, the BIG EAST Conference/Patriot League, and the NCAA to establish a plan that includes best practices and recommendations to ensure the safest environment for our student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
We understand that you are navigating uncertain times and we hope to have more concrete information relative to athletics to share with you soon. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Lee Reed Francis X. Rienzo Director of Intercollegiate Athletics

Mass. Phase 3 Guidelines for Youth and High School Sports, which begins today: That essentially means no HS football this fall, as MA won't get to Phase 4 until there's a vaccine or treatment available.

We will find out pretty soon what the plans will be. I am one of the two who picked: "Holy Cross will play football in the Spring 2021" I still believe that as it will buy time to get a vaccine in place and, failing that, more experience in how to control the virus. While many here are anti-Ivy League especially because they view the Patriot League as a wanna-be IL, since most of our non-league schedule is against IL teams, if the IL chooses to move football to the spring, it would make sense for the PL and HC in particular to do the same as we should be able to schedule not only our PL in-league games but should be able to work the 3 IL games in as well and will miss only BC & Merrimack. Not likely to be a post-season tournament anyway at the D-IAA level. [No, 45, I'm not "back," I happened to see this back & forth, back & forth, back & forth, etc, and I wanted to put my stake in the ground so when it happens I can come back and say "I told all of you so." ]

It would be very tough to have enough practices and then play a 10-11 game football schedule in the northeast during a Spring semester. HC doesn’t have this problem with practice limitations due to weather but many of our peers do. If the Ivies play in the spring, I suspect they will only play each other in a shortened season. So, we shouldn’t follow the Ivies so we can play the Ivies.

As I understand it, Phase 3 has two parts. the first part guidance was released Monday. the second part will be released at some future date. MA used the same two-part approach for Phase 2.

I am not even sure if most of the PL's non-league games are against the IL. I do think the PL decision on football will go the same way as the Ivy decision on football. A combo of copying and a shared narrative on Covid-19.

I would start to think of next year or the spring for HC football. IMO I give it a less than 20% chance of actually happening this fall season.

If there was spring football at Holy Cross, it would be at Fr. K. field. HC spent a small fortune on that new turf field for Fitton, and that investment would be out the window if games were played on that surface in March.

Is there a list somewhere for Phase III Part 2 (like there is for Part 1)? I've tried finding one and cannot.
I know there's no projected date for when it would start, but it seems like they haven't decided exactly what's in it yet.
