ESPN+ was great too. Must have been an HC/Worcester issue yesterday. ESPN+ great from BU, but the women's broadcast from Worcester still had big gaps. Make me think it may be HC's problem.

Wade did a great job denying McCoy on successive possessions at the end. Ryan just would not let him touch it. Why did Jones take Hemphill out at the end ? It seems that he went small because we did.

RJ not scoring, but has been a cool, calm floor leader - eight assists, two steals, and just two TOs over the first two games.

Stats show only 6 turnovers. That is huge.

What a great defensive play by AB at the end. I finally figured out who GG reminds me of (and it goes back a ways). Back in the early 90's Seton Hall had a 6-7 monster from St. Anthony's named Jerry Walker (played on a team with Terry Dehere, before George Blaney arrived). An agile bull......GG is a slightly smaller version. Similar games. I think that GG may be a bit stronger.

There is a real depth of talent here now! I believe that the ability to play 9 men and to get something from every one of them is great! As some others develop, HC could be a legit 11 men deep!

When we went small with RJ for Matt down the stretch, Austin and Judson had to play big.

I stand firmly behind the belief that that twisted layup by RJ had every right to go in. Got a horrible roll. Even with all the free throw woes in the end pulled out the win. Great sign for when we do indeed start making those “Free” shots

There were one or two times when I asked myself, "Is this where we go cold and BU pulls away?" Even the announcers seemed to be expecting it to happen at about the 6 minute mark when BU took the lead. It did not happen. I can say I enjoyed the whole game...and will enjoy the replay as well.

And in case anyone is tempted, yes, we realize BU was short handed......so stop typing. Just keep working and improving, boys!

Regardless of who played for them and who didn’t... Not too bad for the worst team in the PL, eh?

Watching HC's teamwork develop has been great. It is hard to believe that most of these players have been together for only this year...and HC does not have its full team available yet...more height on the horizon. Today they beat a team of mostly experienced veterans. Nice work, HC!
BEAT ARMY!

WOW, feels so good...Nice solid performance. the offense was pretty good, shot it ok, 46%..We got good looks all day, and had a few that just rolled off the rim..Good solid play in the lane, outscored BU 36-32... Austin made some big plays today, both ends of the court.. Great senior leadership!.. Good job on the team D, I only saw a couple of bad switches. Team D made BU really work, the full court pressure disrupted BU's tempo... Gates is a load inside, if we can get one other big to play offense consistently, Matt Faw for instance, Gates will get even more room to do his thing. Faw has to be able to compliment Gates, find spots on the floor to score to stretch the inside defenders. RJ was solid at the point, he controlled the tempo (30 minutes and ZERO TURNOVERS!). Some great bounce passes for easy hoops on the pick and roll! Martindale showed what he can be, a scorer and shooter.. TEAM scoring was impressive, Gates, 19. Butler 18, Martindale 16 and Faw 13....We have to get some bench scoring, but that will come I'm sure... The coaching staff has the team prepared, Coach Nelson is showing he can coach! Today was a big step! Now keep taking steps in the right direction..

Gates-- 10 offensive rebounds in first two games
He was 7-16 from the field in both games . He went 5-8 from the line in the first game and 5-7 today. I know that's only two games--small, small sample--but I think that is the kind of stats he'll be posting. I'd like to see him shooting .450 or so on field goals and close to .700 from the line and, importantly, 0-0 on threes game after game. He is just a tremendous addition to the team.

I go way back..Gates reminds me of Keith Hochstein....He was always described as a bull in a china shop.. I told my kids today he reminded me a little of Elton Brand at Duke. My kids looked at me like, who the heck is he? Then one started tapping on his phone and quickly informed me that he wasn’t yet born when Elton Brand played at Duke. Whatever.

Can we all agree the 'BU mask mandate' was a total disaster - everyone had their nose exposed from the get-go and for most of the game the mask was protecting their chins ! Like the other college teams, coaches and bench players should wear masks but not when you're on the floor. Are we waiting for the BU school administration to drop the hammer and have mask police at their next games, after today's non-compliance ?
